LEGO Space Center 3368 review!

Once being children during the Space Race, this set was very appealing to us. This is how we did it, pre-shuttle, more or less, and it brings back many memories of watching rocket launches on black & white TV sets. My mother worked for JPL, and we made Sputnik ornaments for our Christmas tree. I noticed that we were not seeing this set in too many stores, so last week, for about $48, we finally picked it up. The size is rather daunting for our apt, but nostalgia won out. I was hoping to see this in your list of reviews! Yay!

I actually had this set, until my cat destroyed it. it looked beautiful there in my lego city, a sparkling metropolis, however, Dwight, Destroyer Of Worlds, decided to destroy my world and it was gone from the moment he stepped on the table.

I have a friend who had a ton of LEGO and Mega Blocks sets built and on display in his room until his younger brother went into his room and dismantled the sets. He lost his motivation to rebuild the sets.

Actually the elevator is only used for astronauts, cargo are usually installed prior to getting the rocket to the launch pad. It's too cold because of the fuel.

I had this set when u was a kid. I had so much fun, I also had the shuttle set to go with it. This made my childhood.

I had this and the shuttle as a kid and I would modify the main rocket so I could attach the shuttle to it. I would make a big deal about it like a few hours before I would move the crawler to the launch pad and the astronauts would be in a building across town in their matching pre flight jackets, color based off what shuttle they were going to be on. Then a van I made came by and took them to “Cape Canaveral” for the launch.

That design is for launching satellites. It doesn't really make sense to include the astronaut option. But it's another thing for kids to do I guess.
I think you may be able to bring the crew cockpit up there with the elevator as well.
I think a problem with the lack of interest in the space program is how it almost seems like an every day occurrence now. It's not easy by any means but I can see why people would lose interest. Going to the moon is a much more impressive feat. That said as a kid growing up I was still interested with the space shuttle, ISS coming together, the moon rovers and various probes, etc.
Nevertheless, neat set and good representation of this vehicle.

when he said top thing at 11 min and 9 seconds made me laugh it's called a nose cone and why would they send people in a rocket that is made to pout satellites it won't work because the rockets open the fairings once they leave the atmosphere

the rocket need a nose cone for a better realistic looking!.....and a decent radar dish, also the crane to position de cargo could had been a good idea instead of too many little cars in the set......

How do you get the minifigs to spin so smoothly?

there is a fail in tat set they put the gas tank next to the rocket so when it blast of the smoke and fire that comes out the rocket it heats up the gas tank and booooooooom it blows up and they put tool table next to the rocket it will burn and melt so that is a fail they missed

A problem I have with this is that the rocket is essentially all one stage as there is no separating stages (athough I know that it is just a play set) which makes it a little bit unrealistic (also doesn't have a main capsule for the astronaut)

in real life the tools, fuel tank, AND mission control should not be that close to the rocket, since all of those would either vaporize, melt, or burn (including the people in mission control) :)
