** FAQ **
Hi everyone!
It’s been a year since I made this video and I’ve been fortunate enough to receive such overwhelmingly positive feedback along with many follow up questions on the build process. I figured it best to address some of these frequently asked questions so you don’t have to go looking for the answer in the comments below ☺️
* What thickness are the acrylic panels? *
1/8th inch for each panel all around. It’s worth mentioning that I’ve built 2 additional cabinets and used 1/8th inch panels for the front to maintain rigidity but used 1/16th inch panels for the sides since they were a bit cheaper. Heads up they are flimsy / less rigid but they get the job done since I never remove the side panels.
* How did you fit the light bars into the cabinet? *
I fully inserted the connectors as much as possible into each end of the light bar then folded / bent the wire-connector 90 degrees to fit into the cabinet. It’s a tight squeeze but you can briefly see it around the 5:55 mark. Alternatively if you can buy the 3-foot light bars instead for better clearance without the need to forcefully bend any connectors.
* Did you wrap both sides of the shelves in black cloth or just the top side? *
I wrapped both sides of each shelf in black cloth for the sake of uniformity. It requires more material but was worth the final outcome in my opinion.
* How is the magnetic tape holding up? *
Some parts of the adhesive magnetic tape did indeed wear off after uploading this video possibly due to weather / climate or just cheap materials. An easy solution was buying this pack of small circular neodymium magnets. I just super-glued a few of them around the corners & edges of acrylic borders for a much stronger magnetic hold to the metal frame.
Non-affiliate link: a.co/d/3TnxNvw
* How did you join the cabinets together? *
Just inserted black zip ties through the holes of the vertical metal frames where the 2 cabinets meet in the center.
That’s all for now but I’ll add more to this list if it comes to mind 😅 As always thanks so much all your kindness and support. Best of luck on your custom builds, and until next time, stay safe and take care! ❤️

When are u gonna make a new video if u don't mind me saying I have a video idea.could u do if u want to.but can u make a video with like the cat miles morales suit or cat bodega idk how spell it lol😂 if not could u do some more pose showcases with miles morales?
@PosingwithPeter - Question about wrapping both sides of the shelves...
Could you elaborate a bit on how / where exactly you folded + tacked on the fabric for the other sides?
(To keep the cloth as clean & taut as possible on both surfaces.)
I would guess the surface you cover last becomes the top-side so the visible fold+tacks are hidden under by the frame.
Ok, after a few days work, my cabinet is finally done! A massive thank you to 3 youtube channels without which i would not have been able to even attempt such a project. Costa, you were my main inspiration... you are truly a genius! Posing with peter, i used many of your tips, you were extremely helpful. Sixth scale hero, my fellow aussie, helped me source materials in Oz and i used manyof your tips also. I highly recommend watching the videos that these 3 pioneers put up before starting a project like this. Thank you so much again!
Peter. This is a great video! I'm happy I could help you out. You're posing skills are on another level. Congrats on building a display case worthy of your talents!
The man, the myth, the legend himself! 🤩
Seriously thanks again Costa, building this has been dream of mine for quite a long time and it simply would not have come to fruition were it not for your super helpful videos & friendly/inviting attitude. The collecting community is undoubtedly a better place thanks to you, and I for one am forever grateful for all that you do for us 😊🙏
@@PosingwithPeter you are too kind!
You the goat
@@LocoLu526 Thanks Lu!
You did an amazing job my brother. The video is definitely a helpful one of making these.
This design is exactly what I’m looking for! I’ve been looking at display solutions for my collection of Gundam and Star Wars models, but I also need one continuous shelf for my model railroad (something that standard bookshelves cannot accommodate). Your design allows for this, and because it’s modular, it can easily be expanded to wrap around a room.
Great job Peter! Looks so finished and professional. Poses are amazing as usual. Costa has also inspired me and therefore I have purchased my shelf and am slowly putting mine together too. Can't wait until it's done. Costa, yourself and others alike are great. I watch you guys all the time. Thank you all!!
Thanks so much! Really glad to hear you’re currently in the midst of building your own custom cabinet 🤩🙌 Indeed it required a bit of time & dedication but the final result is so worth the effort.
Thanks again for your support! 🥰🙏
Thank you for the video, me and my dad have been collecting for some time and this DIY is what we’ve been looking for.
Thanks much, Peter! Very encouraging! 🙌🏽
My pleasure, thanks so much for watching!
😃 Fantastic cabinet. Great new poses in that video. Thank you for sharing all this.
Aw thanks so much for your positive feedback! 😁 And of course it’s my pleasure sharing this kind of stuff. Thanks for watching & commenting 😊🙏
Great to see you again, Peter! This video was very informative! Thank you!
Thanks KG! If you guys are ever down I'd love to have you and Riley on a future posing livestream at some point 😁

Dude, you just blew my mind with this great idea! I have been suffering for a long time from not being able to acquire a decent display for my collectibles and you've gave me a light in this dark tunnel! Thanks for sharing!
Dang I’m really glad to hear this video was the light at the end of your tunnel 😮 Thanks so much for watching & sharing your positive feedback, means a lot! 🙏
Wow! Such an amazing display! I can't wait to see some more posing videos when you finally get settled in!
There you are! ALWAYS a pleasure seeing ya in the comments 🤩🙌 Indeed settling into to a new place takes WAY longer than I imagined 😂
Thanks for always watching & commenting 🥰 I appreciate you so much and I can’t wait to see ya in future live chats! ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your video with us here on CZcams. I think we can all agree that this is the best cost effective way display our collection if we are on a budget. Once just want to thank you for inspiring those of us whom aren't very handy with tools, im a bit more willing to give this a try
Aw you’re too kind 😊 It’s my pleasure sharing these kinds of tips with fellow collectors especially if it’ll help with our budgets 😅 Indeed I myself am not very handy with tools so I’m really glad this gave you a little spark of inspiration as well. Thanks so much for watching & sharing your positive feedback 😊🙏
Absolutely love how this turned out, Now I have something to base my display case when I finally get to making one
Nice! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and final outcome of the custom display 😊 Thanks for watching and best of luck on your build when you get around to it! 🙌
Wow this is impressive. Thanks for the inspiration and for making an enjoyable and helpful video for others.
Aw thanks so much for your kind words & support! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video 😊🙏
Well done Peter! This turned out so good!
Thanks mang! Definitely was a labor of love 😁
This is such a great video! I use the same type of shelving units but qill have to consider the backing and led in the future! The size customizability of the shelves is a huge plus.
Thanks for posting!
Nice! Indeed adding the backing & LED lighting definitely elevates it to a more premium aesthetic so I highly recommend adding it to your shelving units as well 😁
And of course, it’s my pleasure to share these tips! Conversely, thanks so much for watching & commenting 🥰🙏
DUDE!!!!!! this is a GREAT idea :) Great job and THANKS to Costa for the idea !
Thanks Luis! And I wholeheartedly agree, Costa’s tutorials are legit game-changers! 🤩🙌

Hey Peter welcome back 😁 congrats to the both of you on your new apartment, and loving your new display case as well and the fact you built it from scratch is bloody awesome and the figure displays superb as always until next time Peter 🤟

Absolutely fantastic design and build mate !! , love a good DIY
Thanks so much! I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I of course gotta give credit to Costa since I mostly borrowed his design/techniques and shared them here with his permission 😁
Your poses are so sick, how your pulling off these poses is just genius and awesome!
Ayy thanks so much! I’m really glad you enjoy the poses 😁
This randomly popped up in my feed and it's perfect. It's exactly what I need for displaying my transformers and model kits.
My thanks to both PopCultureLivingRoom for the original idea, and you for the alternative style.
I do have to ask though, do you have to individually plug in each set of light bars into a power board? Cause I wanna minimise the amount of plugs for a display cabinet.
I’m really glad this video popped up in your feed!
As for the lights bars, they connect to each other via daisy-chain and the necessary wires are all included, so this massive cabinet only took up 2 wall plugs.
Hope that helps, and thanks so much for your positive feedback! 😁
Wow, these look amazing. I wish I'd seen a video like this before I ended up going with my bookcases. 🙌
Thanks so much! Aw dang I was just a whee-bit too late putting this video out 😂 Well in case you ever decide to convert to this type of display, this video will be here to help guide ya with the process 😊
Excellent execution
Thanks so much!
This is incredible display. In my opinion displaying your collection is as important as collecting. I learn a lot from visiting museums etc. They are the masters of displays. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for your kind word Steve! I agree, sometimes we bite off more than we chew and end up cramming too many figures into a limited shelf space so I’m really glad you appreciate the effort I put into how I display them 😁
Thanks for watching & sharing your positive feedback!
The build turned out great! Great job!
Thanks so much! 😁🙏
Wow. This video just randomly popped up on my homepage and it's exactly what I need in a display shelf... Insanely awesome.

VERY very good video my man!!
I saw the original video that you did and I’m guessing that’s why yours popped up on my feed. You did an awesome job. Love what both you guys did and I’m looking forward to doing the same for my collection.

Ayy thanks so much for your kind words and awesome feedback! I’m really glad you enjoyed both our videos and that you also plan on making a custom cabinet 😁Best of luck with the build! 🙌
Thanks for sharing, amazing vid !
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
Hell yeah Peter! I love what you did here! Costa's videos were amazing! Thanks to his videos I got the same lights you did and it worked wonders for lighting up the shelves! I would love to build up my garage shelves like this, but my Prime 1 1/3 scale statues take priority over anything else and they are not easy to build around 🤣
I'm definitely excited to see some live streams from you in the future, but for now take care and have fun with your new shelves!
Always a pleasure to see ya in the comments Dylan 🥰 I agree man, Costa's are complete game-changers not only for 1:6 collectors but for the collecting community as a whole. I envy ya though, even in the new apartment I still don't have the space for larger collectibles like quarter scale or status 😂
And likewise I'm excited to see ya in the live chat of a future livestream! Till next time my friend ☺️🙏
awesome vid and build man, i also really appreciate the transparency with how much it cost you, I often get really annoyed when there's any sort of person showcasing a project then having this weird ass obsession with hiding information.
Aw thanks so much for watching and for sharing your positive feedback! Yeah transparency was key since my goal here was to inform & inspire, and I also can’t stand it when various content creators act like gatekeepers on whatever it is that they’re trying to demonstrate 😂
Looks amazing!! Excellent job!! Thanx!
Thanks so much for watching! Always loved your username and profile pic 😂 Did you happen to draw that?? 🤩
Looks amazing, thanks for the tutorial. I’m still rocking the 24 detolfs but this video has given me some ideas.
Great to see ya in the comments again! 😊
Dayum, 24 detolfs?! Even after moving to my new apartment I still don’t have that kind of space, I’m quite envious of ya 😂
Either way I’m glad this video helped plant the seed for some new ideas to your display options 😁 As always thanks for watching & commenting!
As a long time wargammer, all I can say is "This is the way." Excellent work, great design and awesome modularity. Fantastic
Thanks so much! Appreciate your compliments & support ☺️
Your posing is fantastic! Love the storytelling.
Thanks so much! I’m really glad you enjoy the poses & story telling 😁🙌 I appreciate your compliments & support! 🙏
I too followed Costa's vid and am about halfway through this build. Ran into a few road bumps (shattered one of my glass shelves and had issues with my choice of lighting) The extra tips you shared are much appreciated and seeing the wonderful finished product will give me the motivation to jump back in and knock this project out. Great content as always "Pose Master Pete." 😎👍
Aw damn, sorry to hear that you hit a few bumps along the way but I’m really glad my video is giving ya the extra boost of inspiration to get back on the horse! The feeling of accomplishment will definitely be worth it in the end once you’ve completed the build and have your figures displayed - you got this 🤩🙌
As always thanks for watching and for stopping by to share your story & positive feedback 😊🙏
Beautiful Posing!!!!👍
Thanks so much! 😁🙏
Man, those shelfs look amazing well done.
Thanks Tom!
Thanks for making this video, it’s a great supplement to Costa’s the o.g. I needed the black bedsheet tip! Also good to see the one big acrylic front panel is a workable option. Scoring/cutting that stuff is brutal.
Thanks so much for watching and for sharing your positive feedback! 😊 I’m really glad you found the tips on the black bedsheet and large acrylic sheet helpful - yeah when I saw Costa manually cutting/scoring the acrylics into smaller pieces in his video, my lower back screamed “nope, ain’t happening” 😂
@@PosingwithPeter yeah it’s madness cutting that plexiglass.
Peter your poses are so Amazing!
Thanks for Share.
Aw thanks so much for watching! I appreciate your kind words & support 😊🙏

This is amazing. I totally want to do this to display all my lego sets. 🤩
Ohhh that would be awesome!
This is the absolute greatest video I've seen yet on how to do this. I can't wait to try it! I have a ton of nendoroids and 1/6 scale figures from my favorite video games to display and this seems so doable with my finances help to cut things!
He has so so many Lego sets as well and has always taken them apart after building because we don't have anywhere to put them. I'm thinking it would be a great thing to make after we also move!
Oh wow, thanks so much for sharing your story and positive feedback! I’m really glad you found this video helpful/informative - I too think these large DIY cabinets would fit Nendoroids & Lego sets quite nicely 😁 Best of luck with your move! 🤩🙌
Thanks Peter tat came out great! I’m going to start making one for my collection later this month! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Aw thanks so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video & custom build - it’s totally achievable with some research and patience but I highly recommend giving it a go! 😁
Your timing is impeccable, I was literally discussing Moduspace wait times with Doc Smizzle when your video popped up 😆

Looking great, was thinking about going that route!

Nice! I’m really glad our cabinet videos gave ya some ideas for the project - indeed it’s a lot more fun producing content that others can learn from & enjoy. Best of luck on your custom build, and thanks so much for watching/commenting!
@@PosingwithPeter hopefully you see this but what did you do for the bottoms of the inside? Pop culture put a 2nd board under the all the mains shelves and yours looks like its black. But at 4:28, it looks stapled but you can still see the cardboard texture. but at 5:58 you can see its covered and i didnt see anything in the video covering that.
@dukeroy6724 Hey there ☺️ Great observation with the video clips, and thanks for providing the time stamps as reference. As it happens, I did mention in the video that I wrapped the brown particleboard shelves using the black fabric bed sheets, but you are correct that I didn’t exactly show this. As you pointed out at 4:28, I only stapled the fabric to one side of the shelf when I recorded this part. But off-camera, I wrapped both sides of each shelf using the black fabric and then stapled again which is what you end up seeing at 5:58.
I hope that helps, and thanks so much for watching!
Right?? When he posted the list of items and costs I was like,”ITS EVEN CHEAPER CUZ I HAVE TOOLS!!” 😂 You don’t know how excited I was seeing that bottom line. A great DIY compared to an expensive prebuilt item or even those cheap cubbies made my heart sing!! Now the only thing I need to do is kind of girl it up so that it blends in since it’ll be in my she room and not in the rest of the house.
Thanks for sharing, this is super cool

What a great idea for a cabinet!,been thinking when i get to it,about moducases & should i just go for them over the detolf option, this looks like a fab option that hopefully should give great results, thanks for highlighting this & the video 👍

Great collect but really amazing poses!!!
Aw thanks so much! I’m really glad you enjoy the poses 😁
DAMN! That looks so good
Thanks so much!
great sharing ! thanks a lot
Thanks so much for watching!
What a great idea! I've been playing around with several ideas on how to build closed display shelves, but this might be my favorite! Sam's Club has several comparable options including a one similar to yours in the 24" depth with black laminate shelves and hidden connectors for $95. There's also a silver one that's taller (7'), has 6 metal shelves at 18" deep for $75, though people complain about this one being too flimsy.
Nice! If you can get one for $95 in black with adjustable shelves then I’d say go for it if the 24” depth fits your collection! 🤩🙌
I’m so hyped for this when I buy a house in the coming months after my wedding ,
Sweeet! Congrats on the house & wedding - both very big steps into the next chapter of your lives 🤩🙌

Aww thanks so much for checking in Alan, that’s very thoughtful of you - truly heartwarming 🥰🙏
I’m alive and kickin’ 😂 Very fortunate to still be employed and collecting as well, just been super busy with work and some recent medical stuff. Nothing serious or life-threatening thankfully, just been focusing what little free time I have on my health, wellness, and road to recovery. I haven’t really kept track of the FB Groups or livestreams lately so I’m a bit out of the loop in the hobby but I’m hoping to return to normal in the coming months 🤞😁
And thanks for rewatching if even just for the poses! Really glad ya enjoy them that much, huge praise coming from one of the best figure/portrait photographers in the community! Hope all is well with you and your family old friend 😊❤️
@@PosingwithPeter you’re very welcome Peter! I was talking with Brandon salad the other day and we were lamenting your absence!! You’re definitely missed mate, but I’m really glad you’re doing ok. Don’t worry about keeping up to date with the latest in the groups and livestreams etc.- nothing much has changed 😄
Yeh man this video in particular… the shelves you made, they look sleek AF and seeing the panning shots of the figures all lined up is just magical mate. I was watching it with my little boy earlier, as I wanted to remind myself of your JL batman pose for inspiration, and he was like “daddy! Are you jealous of this?” And I was like yes! very much so! 😅
And thank you for your kind words man, you really are too kind.
Hope to see you back in action soon bud. The hobby really has a Peter sized hole in it.
I used to have a job building stages for plays, this might give me a chance to dust off those old skills. Gives me something to do. Thanks for the advice 😊
Oh damn that’s awesome, sounds like it was quite the handy work - a project like this would be a walk in the park for ya then 😁
As always it’s my pleasure, thanks for watching!
Nice. 👍 I had seen the original video already, but it was cool seeing your take on it. And it's always nice to hear your enthusiastic voice again 🤗👍
Aw thanks man! 🥰 Haha how coincidental -- I was literally just watching your epic posing video for Pennywise and had just left a comment over there at the same time you were writing this 😂
I gotta get you, John, and Lael on a posing livestream in the near future. I'll reach out to ya guys when I'm ready to launch that show in the coming weeks!
@@PosingwithPeter haha, wow! That s quite the coincidence indeed! Yeh, I m totally for it, just hit me up when u have a timeslot for Pose Academy 😁👍🤗
Dude you the bomb. just saved me dough. subscribed.
Sweet!! I’m really glad this video helped your wallet 😁 Thanks for the sub and support!
Excellent video , very good👍
Thanks for watching & commenting your positive feedback 😊
I enjoy your video I may try some variation of your project. Thank You
Awesome! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and that you might try this as well 😁🙌
Thanks for watching!
Those poses make the display look so good
Thanks Christian! I'm lucky enough to own just the right amount of figures for them to be spaced out a bit. I'm sure they'll be posed more neutral as the shelves become more crowded overtime 😂
WOW, this is such a great creative, and budget-friendly idea! This has inspired me to take my collection out of storage and proudly display it
Oh wow that’s so awesome! I’m really glad you enjoyed my video and you found inspiration from it 😁
Thanks so much for watching and for sharing your positive feedback - Happy Collecting! 😊🙏
How exactly is this budget friendly lol. Two of these cost 630 pre tax. minus light bars. You can get two billy book cases with doors for 500.
@@lI-tm2pn I actually still have a Billy book case! it was the very first cabinet that I used when I began collecting 1/6 figures (prior to owning detolfs).
Indeed Billy bookcases are less expensive, but unfortunately they don’t provide nearly as much shelf space compared to storage these racks.
$89 Billy bookcase: 31.5” wide x 11” deep
$99 Shelf Rack: 48” wide x 18” deep
Pretty significant increase in surface area for $11.
At the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference. Billy bookcases are definitely a budget-friendly solution, no doubt. This video was simply meant to compare & contrast the popular Moducase design & prices.
Great idea bro
Thanks for watching!
Great vid!

Looks cool. Might consider doing something like this.
Awesome, I hope the tips here help during your custom build if you go this route. Thanks for watching!
