I am listening to Bhimsenji's Malkauns since, 1975, when I was 8 years old. My Dad used to play it at night before sleeping. Today I listened to this performance for the first time. I don't have words to explain the beauty of it.

Like how a river starts with shyness,
    And then meanders slowly,
And then becomes energetic in valleys, and rushes,
    Into a great waterfall
with a mighr and roar of lion,
And, combining all other rivers into itself, swelling,
Finally joining the ocean of oneness...
Oh, what a vision you gave us,
through the rendering of this raga,
Of the Almighty behind our limitedness!

What a perfect blend of texture and grandeur of this mid-night raag !!
I heard this raag by Panditji (with same set of accompaniment) for the first time at Pandharpur (my native place) in May 1965 when I was barely 10 years old. This musical mehfil was organized by my father-a high school teacher and his photographer friend late Balu Ruplag...My father was extremely lucky to have life-long friendship with Panditji...and also with Appa Jalgaonkar...

What crazy, powerful taans! :D Awesome, legend stuff.
Having said that, it is sad to see people saying stuff like 'how can anyone dislike this?' It is a bit immature to think that what you like is universally lovable and that someone has a compromised aesthetic sense if they dislike what you like.

Requesting to listeners, off every sounds even noises, level-up ur heart in a calm & heavenly position. Then u will realize that what PanditG expressed. My assumption, on that day, he was in heartache, that came out from his every note. what a depth in feeling & expressions. I have been listening him since 2000. Absolutely rare piece.

It is irrelevant to say, what a performance, brilliant, heavenly etc etc... because, Bheemanna is synonymous to God of music. There's no denying that. We can't merely thank him for that. On the contrary, we should be thankful to all those who accompanied him while singing, all those who preserved this audio, Raju ji for uploading. Special thanks to Pt Appa Jalgaonkar ji and Ustad Ghulam Rasool ji. For them, we can fing God whenever we want. It's that simple.

The drut, " Rangaraliya karat Sautan ke" is once in a century kinds. So complete, so replete with the range he possessed.
