Shaun White of the USA was on a quest to win his third Olympic Gold at the Winter Games in PyeongChang. The judges at the Snowboard Halfpipe were looking for complex tricks, height above the 7m walls, and for riders to land high up on the wall to carry speed into their next trick - and Shaun White seemed to be the perfect man for this job.
With a score of 97,75, the 31-year-old Shaun White was crowned Olympic Champion for the third time!

I donât think the commentators accentuated the pressure enough. It was his last run unlike those of previous Olympics. He had to do something he had never done before. He had to overcome the 60+ stitch fear. And Hirano Ayumu just had brought his A game. It was all or nothing. And he nailed it. He devoured pressure.
Agreed! Very few can perform that well under pressure and he definitely rose to the occasion. Simply amazing!
Shawn white lives for those moments understand pressure, he snowboards to win and is not in the true spirit of snowboarding. He had no style and boot grabbed, Ben Fergusonâs run was WAY sicker! So much style and that air to fakie is a lot harder than it seems, let alone the magnificent swich mctwist!
Shaun White *only* does comp and that's all he's done in snowboarding for the past few years, I would hope he could handle pressure.
Most memorable historic legendary runs and Snowboard history said by them
That comment gave me goosebumps.
Here after the final run of his career in the 2022 halfpipe final...didn't get the run he wanted but that ovation he got coming down the pipe was something else. Snowboard GOAT.
Same
"didn't get the run he wanted" stop hating. Dude can Ollie and make it look insane
He probably ate the steak this time
Michel Solfrini I understood that reference
Crappy manager forgot it last time
Just watched that interview documentary thingy right before this video
Why they even published that documentary only 2 weeks before the games?! I did think that 2014 was last Shaun's participation to an Olympic Winter Game and then I saw this video...making him an even greater legend!
What are you talkin about
I've seen this run so many times I've memorized it
Infinity On High-Functioning Sociopath Haha! Same...
Great, now do it in real life then
Infinity On High-Functioning Sociopath and you still canât do a backflip lol
Ok sociopath
I have too đ
16 years apart.
5x Olympian.
3x Gold medalist.
The end to a storied Olympic career for Shaun White.
He is the LEGEND.
GOAT!
One of the most unbelievably clutch performances I've ever seen. The stakes, the degree of difficulty, the pressure; I am stunned
Used to be a huge fan of halfpipe. But halfpipe w/o Shaun is like golf w/o Tiger. Their styles are unique. I was really happy for him when he won it. Certified GOAT.
Completely agree
he's back in 2022
He just qualified for men's hp final 2022!
Iâve got great news for you, for about a week at least
This man must think he is in SSX3. What is this? Video game footage, that's not human lol
SUPEEEERRR UBERRRRRđ
Well he has video games named after him..
That was one of my favorite video games!
Shaun White is (for all intents and purposes) the closest humans will ever get to emulating SSX
RemixedVoice pfffff, wait what will come in the upcoming years.
It gives me goosebumps every time. To see the emotion after he hears the scores and they way he reacts are proof that sports are the best. He put everything he had into nailing that run and it pays off in the end. Still one of the best Olympic moments I've ever seen.
The commentating rly ruins it
This is amazing! He probably felt like a God after that! It's one of the most amazing sports moments I have ever seen
Shauns Thoughts:
I believe I can fly
no, that was probably the song playing on his earphones during that run
This didnât age well
Nah white thought : I hope my boots grab doesnât get counted and I can rob the Japanese kidâs winđ€·ââïž
@@ZenzeroCAM why not?
When I watched this live I started on the edge of my seat in anticipation, by the end..I was standing. The few minutes from the finish to the score was long and I was psyched with how well it looked. It was such a good feeling when he got 1st, I actually teared up a bit from it. Was an amazing event, and I cant wait for the next one
Yeah, all those people saying we was washed and should just retire because he was too old and past it ....
I'd have wanted to ride down the middle of the pipe like đđđđđđđđđđđđđ
Well, the time has come. You excited?
@@NoelBuller Very much so! One to not miss
@@NoelBuller letâs gooo
I honestly think this is the run of his career. Pretty impressive.
Nah. My vote is 2010. His Victory lap funny enough, the fact he didnt have to do it... but he did
He said âdouble Mctwistâ sound like some McDonaldâs menu item
Thats cause its named after McDonald's
@@picturethis8611 no its named after barney the purple dinosaur
@@picturethis8611 itâs named after mike mcgill
I watched it live, this video does not convey the stress he was under well enough. His first run he brought the pain, but his second run he faltered, and other competitors got ahead. He had to bring it all to his final run, and he did. He brought it all
Still gives me goosebumps. He had to give everything he had. Then he owned it.
Watching this live probably the most nervous ive ever been watching a sport. Cant imagine how he felt. And he freakin nailed it
Horrible commentating , felt like I was watching golf
Dude does some insane stunts.
Commentator: "Was it good? I don't know"
Frontside double cork 1440, Are we going to see the back to back 1440's? Yes we are. Back to back 1440's there for Shaun White. The skyhook the frontside 540 now into the double mctwist the tomahawk and he gets that around. Shaun White now with a frontside double cork 1260 and Shaun White with an incredible run there.
Noa đ all in the same plain voice too
Robert S. youâre wrong
Robert S. I agree its bad commentating but you should see red gerard's final run commentating its horrible they cant even name one trick
The camera work is just fantastic.
Incredible. I've followed him from the beginning and thiugh I am physically unable do to disability I get a joy watching him. Way to go!
I remember seeing this live in my office. My heart was pounding so hard every time he was landing.
You gotta love it when the pressure is at its highest, the great ones find ways to come big instead of getting crushed by all the expectation.
Saw this live. My buddy was there. Something Iâll never forget in Olympic sports history. Much like Ledecky and Phelps
I was on the edge of my seat in my living room cheering for Shaun and he won the GOLD!
Tg
The greatest snowboard competition Iâve ever seen. Shaun White needed to nail a monster performance & he did.
Man I remember watching this live, coming back to it years later and watching it again is almost nostalgic
In self-isolation enjoying Olympic videos. This run was a thing of beauty---which is more than what can be said about COVID-19. I'm two years late, but congrats, Shaun!
Anybody else think the announcers are just throwing words in there when describing the tricks? Looks like a flippy spin and an spinnier flip to me.
I feel like half of these tricks didn't even have names at the time and they had to come up with names for them eventually.
No they are standard terms you just don't know anything
Of course someone has to take my joke and turn it into an opportunity to feel better than someone. You can always count on the internet for that.
@@Xavier_Coogat_the_Mambo_King You are making fun of an historical process that many have put years into studying. Some would feel a little irritated by your ignorance
@@_blocboyjames7058 and those people need to deflate their egos. be happy new people are watching their craft.
This is one of the most amazing things Iâve ever watched in sport. I remember watching it live. Absolutely legendary.
I remember this like it was yesterday, the best olympic snowboard run EVER
The pure excitement he has when he turns to see his score and he just throws his board
Itâs crazy how in control he is in the air
The most epic moment from a legend of extreme sports! Made history with this run, I'll never forget it.
So funny to see the haters going "Muh boot grab" while he's literally the only one in the world that can do those tricks lol. Deserved win, best run of all time!
honestly, should have grabbed his balls for all the haters
Hehdhchrydhd Duunhdjrjdjdj who are you talking to
He only had like 2 poor boot grabs.
V0LDY other rider get punished for boot grabs. He gets a perfect 100 at a US open. đ
The man has a big pair of cojones. Judges will forgive a poor grab if you display a big pair of cojones.
By far the best part of an overall excellent Olympic Games.
Simply epic. Good job Shaun. Would like to see you kickass in China...
Two weeks later I saw him at In N Out and congratulated him đșđž đ„ Fucken awesome. Such a humble dude â€ïžđ
The Olympics from 4 years ago have more viewership than the ones happening today. đđ€Ł

still don't understand why Ayumu Hirano's run was never posted? that was a gold-level run as well
Because they donât want people to know that Japanese boy got robbed
@@tv-ez4sw I don't know Ayumu was slapping pretty hard on the landings and started with the method where Sean went straight to the double cork 1440 and had an overall smoother run. Watch Ayumus second run and Seans third run side by side in slow mo and you can see a difference, the pacing is exact.
@@tv-ez4sw nah. sean won fair and square.

Shaun White is one very rare champion. He has lived well. Very happy for him.
These announcers blow. The NBC production is 1000x better
I remember watching this live. crazy how time flies
good ol days... i remember at year 12 camp all of us just rushing back to the cabins after dinner to watch the winter olympics and cheering for scotty james because our camp was about a town away from his hometown
I remember being on the edge of my seat watching this, mine and a lot of peoples idol going on his last run in the olympics for gold, and then freaking out and jumping up and down when they said the score. thatâs how Shaun white retires
Absolute staple of my winter and snowboarding passion.
Iâm still nervous from this run
I got to skateboard with Sean in Oregon back in the day what an amazing athlete
Absolutely stomped it, that was a perfect run, and under so much pressure too!
That gold medal was well deserved.
so much respect for this guy
Commentary sounds like this stuff just happens everyday...
And 60 some stitches but proceeds to try the same thing later on, what a beast
Wow, what an impressive run!
Always awesome to watch Shawn White lead the pack!
62 stitches jeez!!. Props for coming back
I seriously cannot stop watching this!!! I dk if heâs doing the summer Olympics I sure hope so!!!

the highlight of the games for me.
this announcer is amazing i loves his commentary
His reaction to gold is awesome
Shaun White is absolutely insane.
The best to ever strap into a snowboard. A true living legend. Shaun White is a BOSS. School is in session anytime he competes and he takes over as the professor.
It's what GOATs do.
Absolutely incredible performance under pressure.
Canât wait to watch him do it again in china. Legend!!
I love your final run, Shaun White.
Never seen anyone happier than Shaun at 2:40
Gotta know backstory of this win
Commentators aren't hyped like NBC's clip but at least we see the board flip!
Mountain Dew baby
As someone who has never watched professional snowboarding I gotta say: all of these trick names sound like the commentator made them up on the spot XD
In extreme sports, trick names are always quite fun. One of my favourites is âfishbrainâ for a grind.
Beautiful classic from the Master
Still the greatest of all time
that first hit was insane. covered like 1/4 of the halfpipe in distance while 30 ft in the air lolll
I'm scare just thinking about it
