I have been thinking about this with every one of these types of videos. especially the last one with the ghost castle board game. looked like they were there for ages and there may have been a couple? or maybe it was just one I'm not sure.

This game looks really good, somehow capturing the various RE elements and boardifying them! Andy's increasing distress at Jane's ability to randomly draw bad cards was hilarious.

The writing style of those tension cards are great, I always loved those little tone setting messages youâd get whenever you loaded a save in RE1, especially the ones that were super overtly ominous and spooky like

Always good to see you all being able to play a game together, and having Mike in a DM role really helped this run smoothly - but the game itself looks very tedious. The number of turns it produced where the player decisions are "try one die 4 times to try and get a 6" and absolutely nothing changed about the game-state by the end of the turn is mind-boggling.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I really want to love this game but they definitely have to change things up. The most striking things to me were the dice situation like you mentioned and also the fact that you can run away from zombies with no consequence, and that you don't suffer any movement penalties even if you had 2 zombies on the same square as you? Just seems way too easy.
Reading the wip rulebook in the KS page, the player can use 1-3 bullets per action to shoot using the handgun, to rise the chance to hit.

Two spooky board games in one day! This is the best (minus Covid) Halloween!
So cool to learn that this masterpiece of a video game has a board game.

This looks fun and realy accurate (just without limited inventory and save system)!
Mike did a realy good job as the GM, keeping everything in order, reminding Andy to use ammo (no infinite ammo cheat in this game) and Jane not to cut corners (also no Noclip one either).
It seems you guys have a lot of fun playing the game. Maybe next year it can be a regular Hallowstream stream with both OXbox and Oxtra (if the game comes out and you still like it, and want to play it of course, its just an idea :)).
Limited inventory and save system is totally included, it just isn't heavily featured in the demo (There's already boardgames for Resi 2 and 3)
There's type writers and ink ribbons and item boxes, and every character has a specific number of slots to put items in. There's even items that count as two slots, and certain items like herbs all count as only one slot, it seems.
Well long story short, they've captured the games really well.
Im in for more board games on here, please play more.

This looks very similar to the board game Zombies, where you have to lay down street tiles, fight zombies and make it to the escape helicopter. Hopefully Brad isnât piloting it.
I remember playing that. Great fun. Once I can remember skateboarding to just reach the chopper
Looks fun. Purely as a personal preference, instead of overlaying doors over the other terrain, I would put them outside the terrain, so that there's a spacer between each room. Might not be mechanically accurate, but it makes the "map" easier to read. You can tell at a glance what is in the same "space" as you are currently in.
This is really cool! Hopefully we can get an âEscape from House Dimitrescuâ expansion in the future.
That wouldn't be an expansion so much as a sequel, and depending on which game they adapt into board game first... It might be a while to make a Resi 8 board game lol

The items and elements are nice, the little stories on the cards are great. Sadly the base game is roll dice million times and nothing else. Even if they want to keep the die rolling the boardgame aspect, add one or two dice for each roll, so at least it is faster, when two or more turns are little more than stab four times, miss, dodge, repeat after each other it means the base gameplay loop is boring and need to be changed, lot.
Yeah, definitely seems a bit dry gameplay-wise. Not worth the premium price that's due to all the miniatures and stuff. There are so many more explore/escape the mansion games that I would play before this, like Mansion of Madness and Betrayal at the House on the Hill.

These games are a little to complicated but once you get used to them there alot of fun I just feel like sometimes they try a little to hard to be as complex as pokemon and D&D and people get put off
That is kind of true, but they're not *that* complicated. D&D is definitely harder. The good thing about this game is that only one person needs to know all the rules, and the rest can just play it with minimum rules. (Like in this video. Andy and Jane didn't really know all the rules and Mike had to correct them a lot. Game doesn't officially have a GM, but that's one solution)

We have the resident evil 2 board game and about half of the expansions, I am definitely going to be picking this up. Steamforge games really know what they are doing with this series.
I have a few home rules to help newcomers to the game. I won't bore you with all of them, only the ones that applied to this demo; If a player knifes an enemy and rolls a pushback but the enemy has nowhere to be pushed back too, they take one damage. Attacks with a shotgun on the player's square or the square next to it count for all enemies on the square, the drawback shotgun LOS is reduced to three squares.
the DM should have explained how doors work, zombies cant open them but also cant react to actions in a room with no linked open doors

I feel like there are too many "All Clear" tension cards.
@@TheRivieraKid This is an intro demo, so we didn't want to set it too difficult, especially not for new players. The best mix tends to be around 70% green, 20% amber, and 10% red.

i almost want to say this game seems kinda complex and convoluted, but then i remember actual resident evil is exactly like that and instead will applaud the game creators for their dedication to the source material

I think that if an enemy lands on a tile that a character is on, it should get to attack
Yeah, I think that's the case. Also Mike made the zombies attack from a square away at first, I think? Well there's quite a few rules, so it can get confusing. Like I'm not sure if you roll the umbrella die when you end your turn over a corpse, or end your action (as in, as soon as you move over one)
Also I think zombies get to attack any player that passes through a square they're in.
There's a lot of rules, and it was their first game, so over all, Mike did as best as he could lol

I dunno, Capcom doesn't seem *that* interested in the OG Resi games. Resi 3 remake was not really that stellar, as fun to play as it was. *shrugs*

So Steamforged listened to the feedback on the Dark Souls boardgame (which I wish I could like) - and ignored it. Ah well. It's a pile of branded plastic toys, some players will love it just because of that.

Too many misses, makes it unfun. These dice need some re-balancing.
I think the zombies were supposed to be attacking much more frequently. Also some characters aren't as good at dodging, so don't worry. It's not as easy as it seems.

(Using three bullets per shot *does* consume ammunition too fast)
Damn. Misinterpreted this. As Jack said, you can shoot more often. Also, some weapons use red dice that miss less frequently
Side notes resident evil 8 sucks
It's a good game but not as epic as re7 or re2 remake was. Those games when they came out I played them constantly for like a year and a half. Re8 I havent even finished my second playthrough. Wish they didnt cut back on the scary compared to 7.

@@Chad123-g3d I swear they just tried to make a story that tied into 7 but where they could reuse the assets for a re4 remake. Pretty much every area in re8 can be translated into areas of re4. But I mean re7 didnt really feel like resident evil, it would be nice if they got back to similar monsters to the first few games. Werewolves and mold people are meh in an re game

This game is by Steamforged. In other words: expect literal YEARS of delays, flimsy boards that are way too dark, and very "meh" gameplay. This coming from someone who backed Dark Souls and RE 2. Don't back this people, most of you will regret it.
