    studying abroad scares me because how are you supposed to learn when they speak another language? it takes time to learn what they are saying

    • @CamthaCupid
      @CamthaCupid Před 7 měsíci +3

      But you'll be immensely immersed with Spanish and if you know enough to make out what they said you'll be fine don't let it scare you

      Well. I did it.
      When I was 25 I was learning on my own for 9 months. Audio course, books and began to volunteer teaching ESL on weekends and after work. I felt I could have a basic slow conversation.
      I then left my job and booked a 30 day round trip ticket to the DR. By week 3 I realized it wasn't as easy as just living there. And thr spanish was slightly different.
      I studied nightly and practiced that all day to anyone passing me by willing to chat. I became fluent in the next 6 months (I changed my ticket on the 3rd week to extend for 6 months). I ended up coming back. The total stay was 3 years. I'm on to french, italian, português (similar and so goes faster) and some swahili and Greek. But I thank those Spanish learning days for changing my life and approach to languages.
      I learned that I didn't need to move abroad, but that I did have to create the immersion and talk talk talk.
      Other foreigners on the island who just tried the osmosis method later became my students.
      Good luck to you. Pass by my channel and hmu for any advice you need

      It is definitely possible but it would be better if you learn at least the basics first. Here's a controversial video on immersion by Olly Richards: czcams.com/video/kOOMOVnsMk8/video.html

    Muy interesante, ademas, de todos tus colegas, tu español es lo mas fácil de entender, español mexicano puede ser muy rapido pero para mi encara entiendo casi todo.

    The ONLY translation I had a hard time figuring out was the “presenté examen para la carrera, quedé.” Being “I sat at the exam, I passed” …I’ve never heard those words used/translated that way before… qué interesante!

    • @StoryLearningSpanish
      @StoryLearningSpanish  Před 6 měsíci

      There are many ways to say "I took an exam": hice un examen, me presenté a un examen, rendí un examen, tomé un examen. Same thing for "passing": aprobar, quedar, pasar... And maybe you'll hear more!

    Aprecio tu esfuerzo. PERO, este formato (una persona que habla sobre un tema, de manera coherente y a una velocidad constante.) me parece poco natural, no representa el uso del idioma en la vida cotidiana. Mejor analizar una conversacion autentica entre tus amigos, por ejemplo.
