  • In "Taryl & Junior Dodge Skippy", Taryl goes over the proper ways to swap a 17 hp Kawasaki KAI Engine for a 17 hp Single Cylinder Briggs & Stratton engine that will also have electric start instead of rope start. Taryl goes over what you'll need to do in order to properly swap everything over. Prior to and after the fix, Taryl and Junior go to close up shop when they're greeted by local long-winded customer, Skip "The Second Guess Man". In an effort to dodge a 3-hour conversation the boys must manage to escape the show room for the house successfully. See how it all unfolds in another hilarious, yet informative how-to video from yur pals at Grass Rats Garage! And as always, There's Yur Dinner!!

Its always great seeing an old machine been given a new life rather than just scrapping it like so often happens. This should give many more years of service at a fraction of a new mower.

Greetings from central NC. Love all your videos, corn-ball and all. You have helped me over a number of hurdles in the last couple of years. Next going to try to swap out an engine on a Sabre.
I really wanted to thank you for having the Muff-kinn visit on this chapter. Over the years, since 1983, we have had over 30 rescue cats live with us. We have five now from 4yrs to 15yrs. They are truly special gifts to us from God. Like an old sign I saw once said, "You are a nobody until you have been ignored by a cat".

    Love the engine swapn Taryl!
I have 1974 Dynamark rider that my father rode me around on as a child. It does have sentimental value. I've restored the deck with all new spindles and paint. Also, new front tires. The 8 horse Briggs with electric start is a leaker and the plug is discolored after 10 hours of use. My local shop has a new 11 horse short block with a warranty that might be just what that tractor needs. Is 500 bucks plus install insane? I love the tractor and a new engine would just about keep it going till I dont feel like cutting grass myself anymore. Was wondering what you thought.
I'd love the leak to be the value cover and will look into it next time I decide to do something with it. Wish I knew how to add a pic to this post. I'm quite proud on how far its come.

Good tip when you are jumping an engine like that it’s alway helpful to go ahead and hook up the red lead from your jumper cables and then use the ground to make your connection as when you use the red side you can definitely kill a good starter by melting the nuts on the post there. Good video guys I love how you always make comedy out of real life situations.
