No she clarified she was not in the production facility. In a product development lab there are less harsh hygiene protocols to follow because only samples are handled there. Not the products that get sold.
I'm a college student who frequently takes lab classes and I think Kevin's right. PPE is not just for reducing the risk of contamination but also for the researcher's safety because you'll be sometimes dealing with harmful chemicals in the lab and accidents can often happen. Wearing PPE is still part of lab etiquette even if the laboratory is your "personal space".
My very first year in uni we had chemistry lab work and we were OBLIGATED to wear lab coats, use the safety tools and tie your hair.

To be honest, when I saw the photo I just assumed she wanted to take a cute photo and present to us a part of her life that wasn't exactly honest (she just wanted to experiment with some colours and then the real scientist will do the actual science). Yâall know the thing sheâs âmixingâ is gonna get thrown away the second the perfect picture is taken? For somebody who owns an internet cosmetics brand they donât seem that knowledgeable in picture posing.
Those of us who work in quality control labs (aka labs that are used to test cosmetics and other sterile/nonsterile products) know Kevin was right. Sheâs literally leaning over a vat at the end, that is where products are being mixed lol. Wear a hairnet and proper PPE, any FDA regulated lab would require that when youâre exposing yourself to the product.
If she was just creating formulas there wouldnât be a vat present. When I worked in cosmetics, my lab was right next to the formulation chemists lab and he made everything in small batches with a small mixer so that the client/customer could approve the product before it was made in a large amount in something like a vat lol.
