Incredible Marc. Better than a factory finish, especially when you look at the care you take, i.e., seam welding vice spot welding, for added durability and rigidity. You're a legend pal!

One trick I use other than a welding blanket is keeping a couple of welding aprons handy … one to wear and one to cover any entry’s to the interior or to cover glass etc 😊

Love these Volvos, I had one fifty years ago. They handle much better if they’re not on bald crossplies!

@@SimpsonsClassics You mentioned in one of the earlier episodes that you couldn't identify the wire that passes through the steering column. That is for the horn; leave it in place for the time being because it is really difficult to thread up from the bottom if you remove it. If you need any more information about how things go together I'm happy to use my Amazon as a reference and send you photos or a description. Good fortune with the rebuild. Alan

Great to see this I'm on my second restoration on one of these. I have a 1965 estate going through the process.
I can't see in the video but between the chassis rail and the tunnel sometimes there is a missing panel especially with the older ones that can start cracking, would be a much easier job with the engine out 😂

For all that sound deadening does a fantastic job, it is a complete ball ache to remove! This car really shows how good Volvo build quality was back in the day when you consider this car has never been restored previously and yet it's still so solid.......an Austin 1100 would be in a dust pan 🤣
