    Great video my friend, after you honed the ports, what was the nikasil treatment? Was it okey? I give u' a little advice put cloth covering the head of the crank, you'll avoid falling things in the sump. Don't take it to heart.

    • @DeWoodysShop
      @DeWoodysShop  Před 6 lety

      These engines have steel liners so no nikasil to worry about, most large two stroke still have steel liners for re boring purposes. You are completely right about covering the crank, normally i would but it was open for the camera. Thanks for the complement!

    When you talk about the piston rings- what do you mean line the gap with the pins?? what pins? are there pins inside the gaps??

    • @DeWoodysShop
      @DeWoodysShop  Před 5 lety +2

      Yes, most two strokes have a locating pin in the piston ring grove. This prevents the ring from turning. In a 4 stroke it does not matter so they dont have them. But in a 2 stroke if the wrong turned the wrong edge could get caught in a port opening.

    • @DeWoodysShop
      @DeWoodysShop  Před 2 lety +1

      They are similar yes. But probably the DI (direct injection) engine. I get most of my OEM parts from partzilla, and other parts like pistons, rebuild kits or crankshafts from WSM or SBT.

    Can i do a top end rebuild without taking out the engine?

    • @DeWoodysShop
      @DeWoodysShop  Před 5 lety +2

      On a GTX you could. The hardest part will be taking the pipe off. I just took it out to make sure nothing went into the case since mine seized.

      @@DeWoodysShop i succeed with taking apart the cylinders and exhaust without taking out the engine! Its not that hard ! Yes, but you are supposed to remove in the same order also but it does not matter that much removing them.

    Boost ports? Trans-what ports? You mean intake and exhaust ports? 2:34

    • @DeWoodysShop
      @DeWoodysShop  Před 5 lety

      No, i mean boost and transfer ports. These are both types of intake ports. The boost ports are across from the exhaust port. The transfers are on the sides.
