    Congratulations. I'm at the beginning and the idea of glue transfer impressed me, and I think it is of great use to me even though I use another vacuum system. Vacuum bags also use my wife, they store the clothes to win space.

    Thank you for the great content!!!! Helpful if you post link(s) in the description to all parts of a series when there is more than one part. (Maybe I missed it)

    I'd always wondered how and why about double tops. Our guitar strings only have the energy they have. Managing weight on our bridges and tops is key to converting string energy to sound.
    Great demonstration and explanation.

    Today is the day.
    Nomex received last week, Adi Spruce master grade for top most piece, adi spruce for cutout, and maple thin film for bottom piece. Side note: I retrieved the bottom piece of maple from an old Harmony that I deconstructed. Separated the body and neck, filled the cavity of the body with hot H2o, the laminate layers separated and the middle layer is perfect. Dried it flat and voila! Very thin film.
    Can't wait to string it up!

    Wow! No wonder double top guitars tend to cost more. I own one. It's the sustain that really sticks to me.

      OBrienGuitars consegui com um amigo q faz usinagem um projeto do uk tenor em 3D . essa semana vai ser usinado o plug . eu trabalho com construção náutica , estou fazendo o uk por curiosidade e poder ter a satisfação d fazer algo q possa produzir musica ou algum som . terias ideia qual a espessura q teria q ter o corpo e tampo pra tirar um som agradável ?Se eu for fazer d acordo com meu conhecimento em náutica ,a espessura do corpo e tampo ficaria em menos d 1mm e braço talvez 1,5mm daria estrutura suficiente pra ser mais forte q madeira.

    What kind of vacuum bag can I use?

    • @OBrienGuitars
      @OBrienGuitars  Před 9 lety

      There are many commercially made bags available. A quick google search brings up many. Just find the size you like and the thickness you like. basically anything will work.

      OBrienGuitars I was afraid it was some kind of high tech luthier equipment, so if these common vacuum storage bags work it becomes a lot easier! Thanks for the assistance and for keeping my favorite channel on CZcams!

      Would it be possible to use weight instead of vacuum press? That would make the whole project doable for me.

    • @OBrienGuitars
      @OBrienGuitars  Před 7 lety

      I would use a vacuum bag made for doing veneers and other glue ups.

    ola .Realmente tem um som melhor este tampo duplo ??

    • @OBrienGuitars
      @OBrienGuitars  Před 10 lety

      Depende da sua definiação de melhor. Parece que tem mais volume mas acho que os tampos duplos faltam um som tradicional.
