As you may know, Louisville has two 4/5 port Thunderbolts. There's the crazy loud one at the LG&E substation, and then there's this. The blower runs backwards so it's sucking air rather than blowing. It wasn't the loudest, but notice I didn't say it was quiet. It roared like any Thunderbolt should, but wasn't as loud as it could. This one is located at Conway Middle School. There's several 2001s surrounding it; one of which is very close. The low-pitched T-bolt at the PRFD is also near, but due to traffic and that FSK party going on the scanner, it's hard to hear it or any ambient sirens for that matter. My external mic couldn't pick it up either since it's been switched to manual.
Besides that, it was definitely an interesting one to record. I would've had this up sooner, but somehow tons of dust got onto my primary camera's sensor. I didn't notice it during shooting. So when I dumped all the files at home, the main video was littered with black specks. I had to spend a couple extra hours fixing it by via masking and other magic tricks. Luckily I was able to get most of them out.
Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

sounds like the one downtown Hamilton, OH used to have at the city garage
**Update** As of 9-10-2019 the blower is now running in the right direction but the brushes have gone downhill.
4/5 Thunderbolts are really bone chilling especially when reverse wired. I wish this one had a extremely long wind down like the one in Madison Heights, MI. Nice video!
Thanks Stevan! Yeah, Louisville really messed up the wind downs of their 'bolts. Whenever they test attack (which is extremely, extremely rare) it sounds all abbreviated since the blower shuts off too early each cycle.
Madison Heights Thunderbolt didn't have its blower shut off until the chopper was fully wound down but in Grosse Pointe Woods, that thing did one hell of a doodle wind down
Madison heights did you use a 6M blower just so you know
Great sounding T-bolt!
Tbolts give me chills especially if their in a tornado warning for if it's really dark out cause they sound like the worlds ending lmao
Hey DSRX100, are you gonna record the Square Horned 20V2T in Russiaville, IN?
not everyday you hear a 4/5 with the blower running backwards. and sounds like its chopper lvl 5
I like this siren most.
What, because its a 4/5? 🤣
If its possible, could you get a siren test in Lexington, KY?
Yep, that's been on my list forever now. The only issue is the long drive, and they only test chimes. But it's something I do plan to do eventually.
Oh ok. Thanks!
omg the ambience
Man that blower is loud
i dig that shot from under the siren
Really loving that sound. Reminds me of one of Minneapolis'
I miss that system, of course i was like 2 and only watched sirens on youtube when that system existed but that was a nice system
Can you please do a 1003 in Louisville?
Nope, because the only 1003 they had is long gone.
DSRX100 was it replaced with a Whelen 4004?
Nope, a 2001. There's also a 4004 nearby, but it's owned by the water plant.
i gotta hear one of these in my lifetime before all of them become inactive :(
there are small towns which are restoring them so they will not all be out of service
@@bycuritibaMichigan still has their's such as Battle Creek, Madison Heights, Grosse Pointe Woods so
its impossible for tbolts to go extinct
*I will make sure of that exactly*
i DEFINITELY plan to refurbish a t-bolt
@@haleythemau5 i want a tbolt
Sounds like a buzz saw. They need to wire it the right way asap!
The wind down is creepy...
When it winded up, it kinda sounded like an ACA Hurricane.
Glist just recorded this siren and it has worn brushes.
THATS CLOSE TO ME.
Winded up like a model 2t
Indeed
Whoo
First

Reverse wired. :(
At least it still sounds cool! I mean the wind down sounded amazing sorta
