- Tive o privilégio de ir ao legendário Café Carlyle, em Nova York, em outubro de 2010, e conferir Woody Allen & Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band. Diz a lenda que Woody Allen não deixa de ir ao Carlyle por nada, sempre às segundas-feiras. Inclusive, teria deixado de ir a Los Angeles quando ganhou o Oscar por Annie Hall, em 1978, porque era dia de tocar seu clarinete no Carlyle.
I was born in 1980, I'm now 32 and was brought up with my dad's jazz, blues and rock 'n' roll records, whom I lost 13 years ago. Just found this tonight at 3:06 am and wish he was here to share enjoyment with me. God Bless and thanks for the memories, I shall favourite this. I know he'd have woke me up playing the Clarinet to this haha. R.I.P. Dad!!!

I was fortunate enough to see Jackie Evancho at Cafe Carlyle in New York The venue only seats 85 people some seats are closer than her pianist. Shes there April 18-22 It was one of the coolest things I've ever attended. She had time to chat after the performance and was the nicest person you'd ever meet

Também eu lá estive, mas foi em Dezembro de 2000 e de facto era véspera de ano novo mas o Mr. Allen lá estava a dar umas "gaitadas"! Até lhe saquei um autógrafo e tudo! Como clarinetista nem tanto mas alguns dos seus filmes são inesquecíveis.

I don't remember if it was the Carlyle , but we had gone to see Woody Allen to ask him to narrate our Movie on Mardi Gras & NOLA's Music of all kinds ! It was filmed during the Famous Policeman's Strike during Mardi Gras 1978 , sadly he turned us down. He does play a really nice clarinet !!!

Interesting clarinet he's playing. It looks like an Albert system (German) favoured by the New Orleans creole players. Not the French Boehm system played throughout the rest of the New World.

Woody should be wearing a suit, which distinguishes jazz, which is serious music, from rock. The other musicians are. He should not turn his body away from the audience after the piece, but face the audience and acknowledge their applause.
