    this is slick. Exactly what I need because my son is complaining about the wifi in the basement ... I do have coax on which I am running satellite to both locations but would be a total PIA to try and run ethernet from where the cable modem and router are located . A little more studying and this is the way I am going to go . This is really cool technology .

    For the really paranoid and/or have an over the air antenna. You should get a MoCA POE Filter so MoCA signals don't leave your home or actually BROADCAST out of your over the air antenna.

    I really like that these have two ethernet outputs on them. You could have one output going to a game console, and another going to a smart tv. Or two game consoles hooked up and getting full 1gb bandwidth from a router that is far away. Or one connection going to a smart tv and the other to a wireless router to extend the range for other devices. Lots of good options over only having one output!

    Lon, Congrats on a well planned and executed effort !! I have a question re: Moca in general. 1) Am I getting it right that the first Moca box has to be connected to the Cable Modem via the ethernet port or other device, but then the Coax output from the Moca adapter has to be connected to another, different Coax wall outlet? Most houses don't have 2 Coax wall outlets in the same room at all, and if they do, they are not close to each other. Am I getting this right? At the best, it seems to me, you have to lay a long Coax cable or Ethernet wire along the baseboard to get to the other Coax outlet. Our house was built in 1995 or so, and this is the case for us. What do you think ? 2) Could you use a splitter to connect the 1st Moca box back through the same single Coax outlet that you came from? I'm sure I'm out of my depth here. Again, thanks for a great channel !!! Jack

    • @dancecho
      @dancecho Před 3 lety

      No, you would use the one wall jack. That would connect to the moca adapter, which has 2 coaxial ports. The other port would be used to connect the adapter to your cable modem. So it goes wall to moca, and moca to modem. Hope that helps.

      @dancecho Před 3 lety +2

      Connect the existing coaxial cable from your wall jack to your moca adapter, then get another coaxial cable and connect it from the moca adapter to your cable modem/router. There should also be an ethernet cable connection from the moca adapter to the modem/router. Then the second moca adapter (presumably in another room) is connected to another coaxial wall jack, then connected to your PC via ethernet cable.

    Just a quick question, does it also send the TV signal to the rest of the house via Coax or only the Ethernet data? Also other than a high bandwidth splitter why do we need power passed splitters, or can one just use a simple high bandwidth splitter 5-2300Mhz without power pass to all ports? I have tried reading the MoCA standard and there is no mention of using power.

    Using a single, short, dedicated coax cable to communicate between two devices in the same room has got to be the best-case scenario. How about demo'ing bandwidth and response time between devices on opposite sides of (say) your house, across one or two splitters?

    Hi there,
    I have a pair of these ones.
    with iperf3 on Windows 10, i had only 300Mbits/s. The command used was iperf3.exe -c xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -V
    Are you using parallel connection with your tool ?
    After adding the parameter -P 5, I had 945Mbit/s cumulated.
    If i set the TCP windows in iperf3 with -w 1M (no parallel session), i have again 945Mbit/s.
    So is there any trouble with SYNC/ACK with Moca Adapter ?
    Windows has an auto-tune for TCP Window, so i should not have to change TCP window size.
    Thanks
    EDIT (20/09/2020) :
    I tried to download and upload from/to my NAS and i'm able to have 110MBytes/s when i'm copying a 15GBs file to my laptop and 105MBytes/s when i'm copying back to the NAS.
    My network interface was at 100%.
    Far away better than my Devolo 1200 powerline.
    I have one adapter on my garage, cable TV is plugged to TV IN/OUT, MOCA is plugged to splitter 5-2500Mhz power pass and two adapters at the other end in two dfferents rooms.
    Physical rate on the web interface is 3656Mbits.
    I like the fact that it is a USB power so i was able to change US power adapter for an EU adapter (adapter for a mobile phone is perfect 5V/1A)

      Dude Decent I had the same problem, need to go to your computer settings and change the IP address (first time doing it myself following youtube videos), and input 192.168.254.10. After finish with the IP address connect the goCoax via ethernet to a router, on your computer browser type 192.168.254.254 you should able to see the goCoax admin page. username: admin, pass:gocoax

    • @justinlee2331

      No, it only works with over the air tv, cable tv and most home internet (a moCA filter can be used if it's messing with your cable internet).

    Actiontec makes a 2.5 adapter also it seems. not sure if you've covered there's in the past or not. seems to be similar to the go coax one though.

    Can you transmit cable and internet through same coaxial and split it at the end?

    • @H.T.2forever
      @H.T.2forever Před 4 lety +1

      Yep ....
      Since CATV signals are all somewhere below 1000 MHz. And the MoCA "D" band signals are all above 1000 MHz, specifically between 1525-1675 MHz.

    • @Tom-pl4co
      @Tom-pl4co Před 4 lety

      Since it is moca 2.5 does it need a higher mhz splitter than 1675 mhz? (Which works with 1gb moca)

    • @H.T.2forever
      @H.T.2forever Před 4 lety

      @@Tom-pl4co ;
      No, ....
      As MoCA 2.5 achieves its higher data rate by just bonding more 100 MHz wide available channels together (3-5 as opposed to 2 for MoCA 2.0 bonded). And these channels fall between the same 1125-1675 MHz limits of the MoCA D band.

  • @MStrickkk

    Find a real cable technician in your area and ask them why no providers use MoCa devices anymore. Don't hook them up to a working cable system. Only use them on secondary lines not hooked to your local cable plant.
