- Hi, this 'trying to fix' video shows me attempting to fix a Google Home, 2x Google Home Mini and an Amazon Echo Plus.
Remember that this is just for entertainment and I am not an expert in these repairs. The processes in the video may not be the best way, the correct way or the safest way to fix these things.
I do love fault finding and trying to fix broken things so I hope that comes across in this 'Trying to FIX' series.

Buys product advertised as faulty, somehow receives product that works.

I personally asked for a refund. It is not as advertised

side note the first time it says "your mic is muted" was when he pressed a physical button on the unit

When you were playing with the google home and it died, then you plugged the cable back in, you forgot to mute "ok google" and guess what sits next to my computer loudspeakers? yep my google home mini! thankfully you didn't ask it anything and I told it "never mind, Vince is trying to control my house again!" ;) Merry Christmas Vince. Nice to see inside these. The large google home looks like it has one main speaker and the other 2 look like passive subwoofers, i.e not speakers at all just working off the air displacement from the main speaker. Can't be sure of course but I've seen similar in other equipment. Seasons greetings and thank you for all the interesting videos!

On full volume those google homes cut out when using a low amperage power source. For example, they don’t work on an iPhone charger plug. They require 2a of current.
Late reply but they do work with iPad chargers that output ether 2.1 or 2.4 amps!

Hi vince I had a google one before and the ribbon cable kept coming out it was a doggy connector so I taped it down and then it was fine the clip was partly broken. Sometimes when people pull the ribbon cable they damage the part you connect it to

Just a small piece of feedback and no disrespect intended, when you were investigating the wiggle on the micro usb it wouldve been useful if you could have compared the movement with the other charcoal google home just to see how different the give was. I am so glad you did not broadcast the 'Alexa' command (apart from the one right at the end). I often stop watching videos about Amazon Echo because my one reacts. Also with the larger Google device, did you check the other end of the ZIF/ribbon cable at the top of the outer housing to make sure it was not loose?
I think you were pushing the reset button on the white google home when you were picking it up, in addition to the loose cable might make for a great combo
Hey Vince can you help me out? I just got this monitor I have a hdmi and the other things that can connect to a computer or a desktop but my desktop doesn’t have a hdmi or any of the other cords,can you help?
Pretty sure this will inspire people to buy broken stuff on ebay. It's no doubt a gamble but with stuff like this that is perhaps less user friendly than it should be it's amazing there's actually nothing wrong with it.

It is highly likely with the ribbon cable, had it time again with people that don't know what they are doing and I think your Google home did a hot fix update, didn't you notice that her accent changed from US to UK after the disconnect, unless you changed it manually.
