The 2013 Shelby GT500 shocked everybody when it came out. A scary live axle 662 HP Monster out of the S197 Mustang platform. The 2020 Shelby GT500 is on the horizon and is set to come out this year. However what happens when you go in depth with the previous generation, and modify it until it makes 1000HP to the wheels out of the 5.8 liter supercharged V8? One intense scary and wild ride. A 2014 Shelby GT500 with 1200hp. I was lucky enough to meet a guy at a car meet with one that looked pretty stock. But then I saw the rear tires and they were HUGE. started talking to the guy and he offered me a ride and boy oh boy did that thing scare the absolute crap outta me!

76 chevy Vega had a all aluminum 565 Donavon big block with a 10-71 blower shop blower on it. Belonged to the CEO of Ryder truck rental. Big tire street street car that was pretty insane.

My 2007 GT500 is pushing 800 hp and it scares the crap out of me. I can't imagine 1000hp! 2014 was the last true GT500. RIP Mr. Shelby.

I love the 5.0 in the GT and owned a few of them, but the 5.8 is total powerhouse of a motor. I can never go back to 5.0 after experiencing the 5.8.
Where is the convertible 5.8 Mustang? Also, I do not think people - EVEN - car enthusiast - would see that as a daily driver.
I know a few friends that actually daily their's, but mostly don't daily mine.
The 5.2l on the new gt500 doesn't have sh#t against that monsterous 5.8l

The Charger Hellcat top speed is 204 mph.. either way, this is the greatest time to be a car guy. Especially a domestic car fan 🇺🇲

@@maromyers964 The trackhawk is unbelievable for dig racing on the street. I've even had my Hellcat in the 3.4-3.5 0-60 range on the street (on drag radials of course). There's so many insanely fast street cars now, it's great 😈
I am a fan of Hellcats , Terminators, GT500's The Challenger gets my vote even though it can't hit 200 mph stock , the Shelby struggles to do it so it's close and the Charger goes 204 mph and Hellcats are faster stock just because of the Auto Trans but are set up way better and are easier to control
Autos in a High Hp and Torque monster like The Cat make all the sense rowing gears is best in a light weight , rev happy car

I was just downtown at the Atlanta International Auto Show today, and the new GT500 was on display. That thing is a badass. And so is this one.
Loved this review and how you went into detail about a lot of the stuff done to it. Wild ride for sure, imo nothing sounds better than the 2008 gt500 and older stangs though
The 08 is basically the same as far as sound the 5.8 is just a modified 5.4 same that's in the 07-12

Weird. Waaaaaay back when you reviewed the black terminator at mustang week I decided one day I would have to have that car. I bought one finally back in September, and I've always wanted a grabber blue over black 5.8 shelby.... so maybe this is a sign for 5 years down the road 👍

Man those things are so underrated. 660+ hp and looks great. Would own one in a heartbeat
I would def not say they're underrated ones low mile clean ones still go for +/- 40 grand so someone must think highly of them for them to still command that cash.....if anything I think they're overrated because the 11-12can be had similar condition for a good 10 grand or more less and look just as good dont have the ridiculous 200 mph gearing thst nobody is ever gonna use and are just as stout/stouter as far as being able to make hp on stock motor. If your plan is to mod it anyways and switch the blower like alot of guys do the 11-12 makes more sense to me...if your plan is to keep it stock with no mods and brag about it having 600 wheel factory and a 351 cubic inch motor and dont mind paying a premium this one is for you...all that said I wanna mod mine so I am gonna try to find a 11-12 I've seen nice ones for high 20s without alot of miles real clean that is the better deal...a brand new vmp gen 3 is 4 grand...you could have it fully modded blower swap fuel system full bolt on exhaust nice wheels and suspension and make way more power than a stock 13 for about the same or less total investment...give me the 12
If you plan to mod it the 12 makes more sense if not 13...that's my opinion

Are those Nitto NT05s I had those they're amazing tires I didn't even have the R and with 750 crank when hot they're great!!! No go in the set or of they are cold but that's any good performance tire!! Just wondering what he was running? That long gear ratio helps too!! Great car

I would say 830rwhp and 1000crank.
All about the heads my guy and if u own a gt500 u know u can make 1kw on the stock blower . We have the same car but I have stripes and glass roof I am on stock blower. Will admit not stock motor . But I had 16gt with twins 6r80 and a14gt500 with a built motor I made 914 who 880tq . My 14 makes me feel some kinda away and the 16 I sold as was . It was a great car just idk didn't really give me that feeling.

How does it compare to the Twin Turbo Gallardo you reviewed(you should do a comparision vid someday) , and if a Twin Screw and Twin Turbo both push the same numbers won't the Supercharged car be more savage in acceleration through the rpm range , plz review a well set up compound boost car David thank

You talk about being jaded by hp and you are correct. Back in the early 90’s I had a 480 hp to the wheels 89 Pontiac formula and I remember being one of the fastest street cars in the whole of st.louis. Now 480 isn’t shit.

One of the best intros
For engine. Heads are changed, pulley changed, as well as the ignition system. Uses Mission Ignition Components. Apparently at around 750-800 the OEM ignition can't deliver effectively.

The 5.8 still has the firing order of the 5.4, 4.6 and windsor motors. I love the way the coyotes sound don't get me wrong, but I wish they retained that firing order.

Mod for mod an F body needs Heads and cam to hang with a boosted up Cobra
For the cheapskates that value power/Dollar you spend less on The Cobra
