So many of Freddie's songs were directly from his real-life experience, and Love of my life was surely one. ( Freddie once said: "All my lovers asked me why they couldn't replace Mary, but it's simply impossible. The only friend I've got is Mary, ) There is no doubt this song was about his love for Mary though they couldn't live to gather, they even grew closer in many ways. He always took care of her and left her half his immense fortune. ( You will remember
    When this is blown over
And everything's all by the way
    When I grow older
I will be there at your side to remind you
How I still love you (I still love you)
    Hurry back, hurry back
Please, bring it back home to me
    Because you don't know
    What it means to me.
When Freddie heard Montserrat Caballe sing for the first time he went nuts and had to meet her. We all know how that went, and Barsolina tells the story.
    I had this perfect dream
This dream was me and you
I want all the world to see
    A miracle sensation
    My guide and inspiration
Now my dream is slowly coming true
The wind is a gentle breeze
    The bells are ringing out
    They're calling us together
    Guiding us forever
Wish my dream would never go away
    Barcelona!
It was the first time that we met
    Barcelona!
    How can I forget
(((The moment that you stepped into the room
    You took my breath away)))
It was the Hotel Ritz where Montserrat Caballe agreed to meet him.
So many of Freddie's songs were about a segment of his life and that's what makes them so special.

They should'nt even be mentioned in the same sentence. Marc martel, yes hes a great singer, with a loud powerful voice, but is'nt anywere near freddie mercury. Freddie was a amazing singer, with a great powerful, and unique voice that captures any audience in seconds, hes a top notch songwriter, and a entertainer you cant take your eyes off, when on stage, and all this rolled into one perfect package. You cant teach what freddie had, no matter how hard you try. Marc marcel will never reach legendary statis in his lifetime (sorry marc). Freddie on the otherhand is without a doubt a true legend.

The thing about Freddie mercury is he had such a powerful expressive voice. I honestly believe there is no one on the radio today back in touch and vocally. The most recent one that could come close might be Adele because she does have an amazing voice. But Freddy was a one-of-a-kind phenom. Style of music that queen did was unique to them. They blended so much together to get that unique one of a kind sound. There was no other bad at the time that sounded like them. I grew up with all of the stuff with popular and brand new. I went to a school growing up where I learned to play classical violin mandolin and I sang in the chorus. But my musical taste were very good. I always believe that if you want to enjoy music you have to encompass a lot of genres. There are genres however I will not give credence to. Rap, death metal or opera LOL. And ironically opera has a key component of what queen did.
A perfect song to really hear him showcase his voice and feel the power and emotion is the song, who wants to live forever.
much like you I never listen to other back in the day. I have listen to him sense and I do like their self. I was a huge John Mellencamp fan. He wasn’t the best singer but the content and subject matter of this music I identified with.

One of my very favorite Queen songs and its hard to believe it isn't on either of their greatest hits albums. Please, please react to "You Take My Breath Away" live at Hyde Park. Its Freddie at his most beautiful and poignant!!! A MUST!!

Because it wasn't a hit. The studio version wasn't released as a single however a live version was but didn't chart very high.

Heartbreaking watching Brian May perform this song alone at Queen concerts with an empty chair beside him.

Try Who Wants To Live Forever at Wembley 1986, there are two versions (2 different days) and both have there merits and worth listening to. Incredible vocals, so powerful, OMG. ❤️Freddie❤️

Just wanted to add, although the Saturday performance was amazing, in the Friday 11 July 1986 performance, feel his emotion @ 1.05m he almost levitates at 1.50m and the ferocity and power starting at 2.51m, oh my! ... Enjoy ❤️Freddie❤️

Yes I agree. I was at the concert on the 12th and it was wonderful.
Only through CZcams do I realise FM was a little better on the Friday with WWTLF(took over 30 years to realise it 😃) although the Saturday was still brilliant.
Probably Friday took it out of his chords.

I feel exactly like you do though I'm not a voice teacher….I was aware of Queen and noticed some songs but I wasn't into rock n' roll that much - more Bob Dylan and Eagles. And I'm thinking now what was I doing in the 70s and 80s ??? I am absolutely gobsmacked by Freddy and Queen, his inner and outer beauty, charm and of course his voice and dedication to his art.

Dear ma'am, I love this song and I play it on my 6-string and I perform it ok and I still get (a little) better every day - it is very important to approach Freddie's song(s) very softly, that is, if you ever wanna get to his bombastic sound. English is not my native language but I want to say that you have to whisper Freddie's song in training in order to bring it out loud on stage (by "whispering" you will give all the info to your brain).
