The clip on the actuator was different for my 2014 suburban. I found a helpful video by Austin Yount ("2012 silverado exterior handle yellow clip") showing my clip, but still couldn't get it off. We ended up sliding the handle off the top part of the rod (carefully!) and sliding the new one on. It needed some wiggling and a needle nose plier, but it went back on. Then I was able to proceed with the video. The rest of the video is spot on!

Great Video. I used this video to teach me how to fix the right rear door handle on my 2013 Chevy Silverado. Door handle cost me $20.00. The last time I broke a door handle the Car Shop fixed it for $180.00.

The plastic tab for mine looks different.. 13 LT. The bolt that goes through the spring of the handle came loose, which was my issue. Looks like the cotter pin vanished, so i replaced it after resetting bolt. But now i have to reset that plastic piece, and im hoping not to break it 😅

    Story time...
A few months back I had just returned home after a month out of state for work. I was loading the kids up in the 2013 Suburban that we had just bought a month or so earlier, and I noticed that the rear door handle felt somewhat stiffer than I remembered. I didn't think too much into it that very moment despite the fact that little things like that bug the absolute hell out of me.
A couple of hours later we are on the highway and I can sense my majorly-pregnant wife excitedly grinning in my direction for no apparent reason as if she desperately wanted to tell me something. I knew something was up. I said "Okay, what's so funny?" I had a strong sense that she had done something mischevious. It was just...that look.
So knowing how meticulous I am about taking care of my vehicles, she finally starts out by saying "Okay, you can't get mad at me... but I'm very proud of myself."
    Oh boy... 😳
Still grinning, she begins telling me about a cold day in January while she was getting the kids loaded up to go to an appointment. She was leaving early enough to go get coffee and take her time - a couple of hours early. Well, when she pulled on the door handle it seemed frozen in place. So she pulled harder... typical woman move right there. 🤦‍♂️
A lightbulb clicked on in my brain. 🤦‍♂️ I see where this is going...
When she pulled harder, the handle broke off. 🤦‍♂️ 😑
Well, she said that all she could think of was how mad I would be about it (yes, I'm petty like that lol). So without missing a beat, she starts calling around. Over $400 quote to fix the handle. There's no way she's getting away with breaking the handle and then paying $400 to fix it...lol.
So what does she do? She gets on CZcams and finds this video. Lmao
Then she calls the parts store, finds it in stock, spends the $40 or whatever it was for the new stiff handle and a couple tools, comes home and pulls the door apart. She watches this video another time or two, and then does the entire job herself. Lmao
She loads the kids up, still gets her coffee, and still makes it to her appointment on time. 2 words: Bad. Mammy. Jammy.
Needless to say, there's no way I can be mad or even annoyed about the stiff handle. I think of her story every time I almost try to pull on it harder... 🤣
A big thanks to 1A Auto for this and *all* your videos. They've been a big help many times! 👍🏻

Putting tape on the bolt helps, but you end up with tape "under" the washer. I have done it. But, Not a good thing as it can affect the tightness and longevity of the holding. I tear off a corner of a paper towel like bounty, it's just the right thickness. Put it over the bolt, push it into the socket, tear off excess, and the socket pulls off easily if you wiggle if side to side as you pull back gently. Even with a swivel. Another thing, never start any bolt by rachet, grab the extension and twist it by finger. Turn backwards till you feel the threads drop into alignment, then start threading in. The nut insert on this particular handle has very little reinforcement and as you alluded to, too much torque and the nutsert will break off in the plastic. Cross thread one if these handles and you end up with $100 dollar piece if junk. I installed autoglass for 17 years but got out in 2002. So was not familiar with this one. Manufacturers are always looking for easier assembly methods and those that have less squeaks and rattles. They don't give a rats arse about disassembly. Thanks guys.
Your videos are always spot in with great camera angles so you can actually see what us going on. The clip on the rod was a little bit different, and I know, wrong direction and those things break. Thanks again.
