  • LBS offer a dry fix valley trough solution.
This is a mortarless system which provides a maintenance free means of discharging water from a roof valley. The LBS dry valley trough is an excellent cost-effective alternative to lead.
It is a glass fibre polyester UV-resistant product that fits under the battens on a recessed valley board.
Each valley trough is 3m in length by 400mm in width. The product is finished in a standard grey colour, so that it is similar in aesthetics to traditional lead.
When fitting the dry valley trough, first fit a length of membrane along the complete length of the recessed valley board. This provides a cushion between the timber and the valley trough. Fix this in place with membrane tacks.
Place a 500mm by 500mm piece of lead at the gutter end of the valley before fitting the dry valley trough. Cut the lead at an angle to fit the valley end.
Place the dry valley trough into position initially, then mark and cut it as required.
Pinch the centre upstand tightly to close the gap and dress the lead around the bottom edges of valley trough to make it watertight; and in turn allow for water run-off into the gutter.
Fix the valley trough into place using non-corrosive nails.
