Thanks Gary. When I was buying my new detector, I was first thinking: "go simple and buy the ORX". I wasn't a fan of tweaking a lot of settings. After watching all your Skill School videos, I changed my mind and got the Deus instead. My favorite program is the Sonar, and I agree, the XY screen provides so much information in the field. Love it.
These days I'm revisiting all the fields I've hammered with my entry-level machine, using the Sonar program and listening for those lifted tones. Has already given some nice deep finds.
Looking forward to your next video.

      Hey Gary ..... And Gary
I think I want to set up a program that gives more tones, I want one tone for iron, one tone for foil, and 2 or three higher tone maybe poptabs/gold and coins/silver
I'll have to figure this out, but not today I'm just going to use deus fast again like I did yesterday, I did pretty good, but I'm going to a little more trashier area, so maybe I'll dig too much trash, I'll see

I've used the same custom settings for four years now, based on the hot program with a few tweaks and all tones. I love it. I found six hammereds last year and I'm in Cumbria where it's a bit quieter. I also found a gold Roman a couple of years back. Of course, you've got to be over it as the saying goes. I mainly detect on pasture.I think getting to know a program really helps.

Thanks for the insights Gary, I've been using both the sonar and ultimate programs for a while now. The only major change I make is to allocate a low tone to all targets over 97 - in my experience this is always deep iron or 'iron wraparound'. I still hear the target - but I get a heads up as to what it might be before I start digging. Great video as always 😀😀

Tried Evo today. Good program and easy to dig lots of targets you certainly won’t miss anything however...I know Gary said this but, reactivity at 4 really does lose depth. Great on ploughed land but on deep pasture I’d drop that to 2 as I did today worked a treat. I did a few tests on targets with reactivity at 4 and 2 the difference is astonishing. Both have their uses. Found a vicky penny at 6 inches today sounded like a coke can on Evo!

Hi Gary, thanks for the videos :) I use the Sonar program on a difficult ground in mountain, non regular, a lot of dead roots, very rocky and on a few parts with many iron signals. I'm using a 11' x35 coil (its a ancient wood with newly planted trees). I use the 11khz frequency with sensitivity to 91. No change for the ground balance on 88, since its very stable despite the rocky land. Have you some tricks to be sure the coil can read all the ground, especially the hollows? Should I up a little more the sensitivity? I know hollows can hide targets for the coil, I'm afraid it makes the Deus too much unstable with this prog if I go to 95 for example and I prefer detecting this ground on 11khz, I tried one hour with the 7khz but i'm not convinced its the good frenquency for that ground.

Like 80-90% of the time. I can detect but it’s not fun when constant chatter is about. Doesn’t matter if I lower the sens or frequency. It’s still there. ( gets a bit better with 25khz but still there ). Good it be that it’s a bad coil ? Or headphone problem. Or maybe the settings are off ?

Gary I was out on ploughed land today reseeded with grass, it was very iron infested like almost unbearable on the ears with zero discrim but It was perfect as I wanted to try out all 3 of your programs on this type of land. Ultimate, Sonar and Evo. Firstly the Sonar was a none starter it was just too jumpy and spicy as you say, lots of false high tones it just couldn’t handle the Iron. The Evo was good but struggled to find the targets amongst the iron however...the star of the show amongst Iron IMO is the Ultimate, wow, that program is noisy and you hear everything but the second you hit non ferrous wether it’s foil in the low numbers or lead in the high numbers it’s immediately stops you dead and shouts dig me, even when it’s amongst iron and deep. I was swinging quite quick at times and the iron was absolutely unforgiving on the ears and it still stopped me dead with a beautiful high pitch tone on the tiniest buttons sat among nails. And it gave me the correct non ferrous target numbers too even amongst that iron. So impressed. I managed to squeeze out a tiny Charles 1 Rose Farthing sat literally in the same hole as a rusty old nail. The Evo was great on the stubble it was nice and stable. I just need to go to a non iron infested site now and play with the sonar. Cheers Gary.

Great video but I do think that all the programmes may frighten some people. Maybe it's time to re-visit the simpler side of the Deus too. I always start with GMP in full tones, it's a great way to start on a field and then I let the field dictate. I honestly think it would be good to point out that the Deus works best when you listen to the fields and let the conditions tell you which of the Deus options is going to be best. I see so many comment where people always use one single programme and I think thats the wrong tactic when you have a Deus. ATB MMMD

@@Pervostolnik Hello, thank you very much for the video tutorials, beginner users of metal detectors really need them, but a lot of people from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus watch the video, and I think some people don’t know English, I ask for subtitles in Russian at least. Thank you very much, I wish you good luck and all the best, with respect, Vladimir.
