To really understand and appreciate The Beatles you have to go back in time to the late 50s early 60s when the production was like a assembly line. Someone wrote the song, someone else sang the song, someone else played the music. Beatles came along and did it all, and did it better. Wrote , sang, , played, with their own unique sound and look. The originators of Rock n Roll. To write a song takes a effort. To write a song that becomes a hit, you have talent To write a song that becomes #1 your on top of the charts To hold the #1,2,3,4 and 5 spot on billboard's top 100 songs Of April 1964 all in a row.... You're on top of the world. A record that will never be broken. It is highly possible that no other group of four young men will ever get together and do what the Beatles did for the music Industry. They revolutionalized and changed the world. Thank you John Paul George and Ringo. For those who missed it, I'm truly sorrow. For those who were there to experience it, wasn't life grand?

It's interesting, what's mentioned at about 06:00, how Billy Preston's presence improved the mood, and cheered everyone up. I think the main reason for that was that Preston was a "guest" and the guys were conscious of it and were careful to behave themselves. When it was just the four of them (and George Martin and whatever technicians were there), it was more like it was just "the family" and they were less inhibited whenever they got annoyed or lost their tempers. And by this time, they had been together so long, and stored up enough resentments with each other, and their creative differences were getting strong enough that when they didn't have a guest present to motivate them to be on their best behavior, they _could_ get downright nasty to each other and make each other really angry. It was quite literally a case of familiarity breeding contempt. But people mind their manners better around guests and strangers. Preston's presence, I think, motivated them all to hold that back a bit, and almost certainly kept them from getting under each others' skin, and thus the old friendship and camaraderie reemerged and let them have fun working on this while they were minding their manners.

The legacy the Beatles left is simply so huge and so monolithic it almost defies description. Their presence in the world is of historic proportions, and they are not likely to be completely forgotten in 100 years from now or even 200. The fact that people still retain such a strong interest in the Beatles and their music more than 50 years after the band broke up, is proof of the indelible mark it left on the world.

I'm a life long Beatles fan. I took a trip over to London in the summer of 1974 when I was 18. Stayed with relatives in Ealing. I walked from Picadilly Circus over to Savile Row and sat on the front steps of the old Apple building. I thought of how many times the Beatles had been there and I could still sense there vibe as I was sitting there. It was classic. I went over to Abbey Road and Abbey Road studios too. Back then there were no tourists hanging out in those places.

I remember, to this day, being in England in 1964 as a 7 yr old child and hearing a song on the radio. It was the first time I ever heard a song on the radio. Not that the radio wasn't playing songs all the time, but this was the first time I actually "heard" a song. I was at my Nan and Grandad's house in Luton, and this song came on. Like nothing I'd ever heard before. At the time I didn't know who did it and even today, I couldn't tell you what song it was. But, it was like fresh air being pumped into that old row house. I heard the music for the first time in my life. And even if I don't remember the song...I will always remember the sound. It was the Beatles.
I've been a professional musician now for almost 50 yrs because of that moment. Still playing gigs. Just now in the Texas Hill Country. It's been quite the journey from that day in Luton so very long ago.

My son and I had the pleasure of visiting Abbey Road Studios in August, 2018 for a lecture in Studio Two (!) about the magic that lives there. There are no feelings to compare with the ones of walking into the enormous room or walking up the stairs to the control room and I will never forget watching as my son played the final chord of "A Day In The Life" on one the four pianos used (the "Mrs. Mills" piano), the one played by Paul and Ringo. The lanyard I was given at the start of the tour will always hang by my bedside and I sometimes kiss it goodnight. It was a honor and a privilege and if you ever get the chance (they offer the lecture from time to time), GO! Your life will be complete.
