Hey guys, just reminding you we're Stanley cup champions
@@Rozie2718 let's GOOOOO bring the cup back 2025 as well
That never gets old
Lundy locked in for 6 years makes me very happy :)
I got an answer for the defense. Just put Forsling in a machine and fucking duplicate him😂
Clone Forsling 5 other times
I like it!
Let's 3D print another forsling!
This core is LOCKED IN:
Reinhart: Through 2031-32
Forsling: Through 2031-32
Barkov: Through 2029-30
Tkachuk: Through 2029-30
Lundell: Through 2029-30
Just have to pray that Knight works out and overcomes his personal struggles as well.
next two players bennett and carter
And Verhaeghe through 29-30
@@OWlsfordshire I know Bennett might be the odd man out but his style of play just works in the playoffs can lose rhat.
We need to somehow secure Bennett and carter next year
Spencer is only 23 he has plenty of time to develop. After letting Stolarz walk they’re 100% committed to him.
Not to mention the fact they called Spencer Knight up during the Stanley Cup playoff run is a great sign.
Lundell was a must sign.. don't mind overpaying a tad if we did it'll pay off huge dividends in the long run.
It’s not an overpay that contract is going to age like Christie Brinkley
Its not an over pay to get that term. Each year lundell has gotten better, and he had a very strong playoffs future is bright for him!
Great video ! Having Lundy locked in for 6 years is beyond sweet. As well as the core. Keep up the good work Eric !
Lundell is another fantastic 200-foot player, great news today.
Bennett is so valuable to the team and probably is up there with barkov and Tkachuk in terms of importance to this team. With reino and Lundell getting what they go i really wonder what Bennett gets
I'm guessing around 6ish .. Our depth, and conditioning on this team is what set us apart to win the cup.. looking forward to next year already.
@@mythicalrizz I hope so if he tests the open market he could definitely get a bit more then that so let’s see
My only concern is Ekblad staying. I know a lot of you wanted him to, but he's such a liability for what he makes and it's not right to make Forsling carry him when he took such a deal for us.
I would be OK with him leaving if we bring a Montour-level defender.
@@rogelioortamartin6794 give some 30-something washed defender a 775k contract and watch the guy play like a mad man
If another team wants to hand him a bag like Montour let him go.. or else I wouldn't mind him at 2.5 to 3 mill.. Eck isn't bad he lacks speed and needs be paired with someone who has it, to cover for him a bit. Overall we dont have alot of panthers who we draft that retire here would be nice to see him stay but no way in hell at least with zito here he gets paid more than Forsling lol
@@mythicalrizz Ekblad is the reason we got scored on 2 minutes after finally getting a lead on the Oilers in game 7. He's a serious liability.
If he wants to stay he can take a 3 x 3 and be a bottom pair guy, but honestly someone will pay him and he will leave IMO.
Lundell is essential. We kept all the essential pieces. We couldn’t afford Montour (who was remarkably average this year) and is being overpaid. We kept all the players who are improving and got rid of the guys who are replaceable or primed to slump (Tarasenko, OEL, Montour, Stenlund, Kulikov)
I think you meant Dreigder not Stolarz 😅
Just busting your balls, keep up the great work 💪🏻
lol what you all don't hear is the dog off camera crying for me to come back the ENTIRE time I record these videos. Totally spoiled
Fluffy 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This could easily be one of the best contracts in the NHL by 2026, loved it since it was announced.
Ekblad 2 years ago I would’ve 100% said sign him. Now I highly doubt they do, he’s a liability on skates after the ankle injury. He’s just has such bad luck with his health that it’s practically decided his future with the team for us. I’m happy as hell we won with Ekblad but there’s no way we can afford to pay him like a top player in this league (which he hasn’t performed as recently)
The Lundell contract caught me off guard, too, I thought he'd get less money & years. But I'm not going to second-guess Zito. I read that it covers his first two years as a UFA, so he'll be a bargain in those years. And he's only 22, he'll be getting better every year.
With so many top players signed, this year was the last year of the cap crunch. Next year, we can pay Bennett & Verhaeghe $8 mil each, even if we re-sign Ekblad at the same rate. And the cap will be going up, too, so that's another 4-5 mil we have to spend. We can run back this core for another 4-5 years, and there will be cap space available to add to it.
But there's a problem. You don't have any worthy Montour replacement. I doubt Schmidt covers the position
@@xlr0gd205 Yeah.... but that's only a problem for the short term. We'll have cap space to look for a replacement. Monty is good but not irreplaceable. I see lots of cap space in the coming years.
Looks like we got our squad. We really need one of Balinskas or Bjornfut to become something. I also hope Forsling can become a good point man for the power play. I wish he were right-handed. #GOCATSGO
BTW, Jaws, I wasn’t following the channel during the 2023 run, so for shytes and giggles, I looked back at the episodes during the '23 Boston series. I was bored last night. All I will say is, in hindsight, you had some real doozies for takes. I don’t blame you, but.... oof. They were funny to watch.
We need to luck up Bennett
Cats got younger, bigger and deeper than last seasons team. The only real question is can the new D guys fill the OEL and Montours spots. Go Cats
The strength of this team is down the middle so Bennett is more important than Swaggy. Sign Bennett first.
not sure how Zito don't win gm if the year the way he retool and find gem out of the blue not sure what else Zito got to do
Some of the comments i see regarding Lundell are insane... people saying he is regressing and all that crap. I guess they didn't watch him in the playoffs. I thought he actually got better. Everyone is also complaining about OEL leaving, but at the beginning of last year they were saying "what is Zito doing, OEL is washed." Man, some people... I also think Schmidt is a kind of "OEL-type" situation in that he could really have a bounce-back year. He defensive numbers are still strong.
When am I getting my extension
Q got reinstated you’re retiring!
@@TreySarverQ is so ass 😂
@@choppergunner8650 WE WANT BRUNO
word on the street, paul wants to go back to Winnipeg
I was thinking we could sign Daniel sprong on a 1 year 775k deal for the third line as he did well in Detroit. For this season for 24-25. Swaggy and Benny would be for 25-26.
Jawwwwssss. Who's taking Tarasenkos spot now? I just saw that he signed with the Red Wings so I'm looking for another video from you 😂
One of our kids..aka prospects
What’s up with Tarasenko !?☝🏻 shoot I want him back 🙏🏻
He's all but gone. Panthers only have enough money to offer him a minimum contract unless they trade someone who they don't want to trade.
Pens or Ducks for Vladdy
@@jcg9998if Ekblad bites the dust, we have more money to offer him
Or Red Wings same thing 🤣
Defense is the bread and butter of the Panthers. I'm not too concerned now 👍
Dude we're gonna be a nightmare to deal with for the foreseeable future 😅
Vegas will take care of the Panthers
@@rickhammond2473 don't delete this comment
Great move by Zito ...
Locking down quality core guys will extend their cup compete window.
Well seems like Vladdy is heading to Pittsburgh. Sad to see him go but hey he did what he was supposed to do for the panthers and then some. If this is the last move for now then I’m okay with it.
Great move … figured this would happen.. bye bye tarasenko as well😢 your efforts were appreciated
When will zito do his yearly waiver wire pickup that turns out to be a steal?
Jaws, can I selfishly ask you to post overall reaction on Bolts free agency this year? 😂 Because, you know, we surely go for each others throats in playoffs this year
sure I can do something like that gimme a few days & remind me if I don't
1 million in space left
The cap goes up again and we get Keith yandle money off the books Next year.
760k left. So barring Ekblad shipped off, it's a min contract. Tarasenko might still bite for it, but think they might have to find it from within if he doesn't considering what people got paid on the first day, Tarasenko should get 3-4M easily if he wants to.
The Ducks have $8M that they have to spend just to reach the salary floor. Vladdy about to get a deal similar to what JJ Redick got with the 76ers a few years ago
You can move a guy or two to AHL if you sign another player, so in theory Tarasenko could probably get 1.5M or perhaps even 2.2M if you're willing to run a 21 or 22 man roster for the season.
I would think in the end Entwhistle goes down and one of samo/sour comes up. I hope so anyway. We have 7 D and 13F so just a little depth, not as bad as two years ago, not as good as last year
Or he’s taking a 2x4.75 with the Red Wings lol
🐀🏆📈
That's an overreach for #15
And Tarasenko gone. When the player takes the money , the cup champ will lose their team every year
I’m happy we resigned Lundell but 5 million is way too much money for him was hoping to bring back Taransenko as well ain’t happening now
Samo or Sourdif will fill that roll, time to see a Zito draft pick other than Lundell
@@flyingfluffyhockey this year's draft class looks solid considering the picks they had. Good size and talented guys.
BTW, I'm not being critical of Zito. He's done a great job. Every contract on the team is below market including the just signed Reinhart. His estimated value was $11 - 11.5 million and he signed for $8.5 million. Barkov and Tkachuk would get at least $2 million more per year if they were free agents and they are locked up until 2030. Those contracts along with Forsling, who's contract is a steal for a guy who had one of the highest +/- 's (I believe 3rd highest) since Wayne Gretzky in the 80's.
Running a team in a state with no income tax is a big advantage
@@spearson103 didn’t start being seen as an “advantage” until teams like Nashville, Dallas, Tampa, and Vegas all start doing well. No one would talk about it until those teams did well. Canadian markets and O6 old heads up north coping and seething that the south is running hockey
@@spearson103 It's an advantage but it's very overrated and exaggerated in the NHL. I'm not an accountant but I believe for someone who is earning $10 million you are on average saving maybe $600,000 a year from a high tax state like California (11%). Only half of your earnings apply because half of your games are out of state. Other state taxes drop to as low as 6% for highest earners.
@@jcg9998 Also try cost of living.. As well as buying a house in Florida compared to California or Canada its night and day.
@@mythicalrizz Desirability is an altogether different factor. Cost of living is much cheaper in other states than Florida. A house in Detroit costs a fraction of what it does in Florida.
Boqvist brothers now panthers, next year get brady. 😅
Just lost Tarasenko.
Can they move some money on Ekky for this year?
I feel bad eki is taking all of gus' money
@@Mason-14pEkky is getting carried hard. He did have some good playoff games but overall he's a liability. He's taking Vladdy's money
nope, the NHL is not like NFL, no restructuring allowed. Only way out is trading him which I highly doubt unless we are gonna eat salary if we want a good D in return. He is likely staying and will get a chance to see just how much of a team friendly deal he is willing to take in order to stay
@@flyingfluffyhockey thank you! This is will be my 4th season as a hockey fan and so I’m still trying to understand how a lot of this work lol
Its crazy how things are panning out. Stolarz isnt a panther anymore. I have to ask, how messed up is it that a player is partying along with fellow champs but not teammates anymore. All within a week
It's absolutely insane we never even played Stolarz a full playoff game when he was statistically one of the best, if not the best, regular season goalies. The Leafs could be a nightmare next year.
@@OWlsfordshire I think u need to remember that backups stats are a bit inflated because they play against the worst teams/when bob needs a rest. Not saying stolarz is bad but stats aren't what they seem in terms of backups
I don’t think Stolarz is gonna be what you pan him out to be. That man left a lot of open rebounds out in front of him very early on in the season. Don’t be shocked if his percentage dips heavily if you make him a starter
@shawnagar6016 Oh yeah, I get that, but Stolarz played against some great teams and was always in top shape. I agree with playing Bob over him in the playoffs, it's just crazy that we didn't need him for a full game, even when Bob struggled.
Lomberg running around shirtless with the cup " boy I heard Calgary is nice this time of year" The NHL could work on it's scheduling, one extra week wouldn't kill anyone, this timing is absurd. I did not even get a chance to do a 23/24 wrap up video before we were losing guys.
We
Still have 5 to 6 million dollars in cap space left
What are you on
$766k, so less than league min $775k
yeah that was before Lundell sadly
@@chootum8295 actually since some players are expected to be moved to the ahl we could have up to 2 mil left
Steal! Look at who else got $5 ML in free agency, guys like Bertuzzi. Lundell is a 2-way who will play increasing minutes and important role. Stolarz can go and Knight can get a legit chance. Mikkola eats up a bit of cap but now you can’t trade one of your top 4 D.
Rodrigues is cheap at $3 ML but something’s going to have to give at some point.
ZITOOOOOOOOOOOO
That's it as far as salary cap goes. Panthers lost their back up goalie, going to lose Tarasenko, Lost top 2 offensive defensemen, Montour, Ekman-Larson... plus a bunch of fourth line contributors. This team is right now, inferior to the team that just won the cup. All they did was sign three players they already had and add a bunch of minimum wage free agents. Some of these minimum guys are going to have to elevate along with some rookies.
Not that mad over the Montour loss. Dude wanted almost the entire salary cap to stay in Florida. Look how much Seattle overpaid him. His value considering the 2023-24 season is 3M-3.5M at best
Bruh you need to watch more hockey if what you think we picked up is min wage guys. We didn’t do bad at all considering how much money we had to play with and some of those guys could have asked for more easily
@@choppergunner8650 Not saying Montour was critical either. I knew he was gone. I thought Panthers would be able to keep Ekman-Larson but I guess not. I'm more surprised that Lomberg, even though he's minor, left. Point here is that, winning a championship and keeping together the team is nearly impossible. In this current state, Panthers would almost certainly lose to Edmonton if they played right now.
@@jcg9998 Lomberg barely did anything in the playoffs. I know he was a huge morale boost for the team, and was a good skater, a very fast one, but he barely did anything.
@@choppergunner8650 A fourth liner doesn't have to score and basically has only one real job and that's to finish at a 0 +/-. No, he didn't contribute a lot. He finished the playoffs at -2 (basically the Ranger series) and did play game 7 against Edmonton with a 0 +/-. I thought that they might try and sign Okposo to a 1 or 2 year minimum deal if he chose not to retire.
Don't we have Yandel money coming off the books too??
I think so? Or maybe one more year? I would check Capfriendly but....
That is too much money for AL. I hate paying for potential.
Who here thinks mourice is gonna give samoskevish a chance
I think he is getting a chance by default.
He’s gonna be in Vladdy’s spot on 3L
I think maurice has no choice.
He kind of has to . The one thing we haven't fully seen with bill zito as a gm is a big one: how well does he draft. Lundell seems to be working out but if Samoskevich and even sourdif do too it would be huge for us
Him or Sourdif. Paul has his cup now and he will do whats best for the team IMO
Great news on Lundell what did Florida offer Montour and why did Montour leave a championship team and the no tax set up in Florida to go to Seattle i guess he is all about the money i hope not WTF
I assume he was offered the same amount as Forsling but less term? Maybe?
Zito is not stupid I highly doubt he was offered a contract like Forsling.. I'm sure he was offered a serious pay cut because his performance just isn't up to snuff but with 7 years 50 million in front of his face can't say I fault his decision to take the bag.
@@mythicalrizz Hear him talk he says different 5and a half million over 7 years with the tax set in Florida with a championship team so good to go for 7 over 7 in Seattle WTF it will come back to haunt him just come out and say i went for the money do not sugar coat it with BS dont let the screen door hit you in the ass Mr Montour
