Where did the stereotype that Jewish people control TV come from? An anti-Semitic heckler is not only sure that Jews control the media, he thinks pointing it out in the middle of a comedy show was somehow a compliment. Tune in while Steve gives a history lesson to this "patriot” about how he's actually siding with the Nazis.
When Steve snapped at an anti-Semitic heckle, he was not at his best. But what followed was pure madness. He ended up with death threats and the FBI got involved. Here’s the story.

It seems to me that they do it more when they don't respect the person on stage. Like when they're trying to be funny in topics that may offend people, but it just ends up cringe, which is Steve's speciality.
You say it like that was his profession.
And they also are too scared to get on stage. They are angry, more accurately resentful at people for being brave enough to get on stage. I've been to plenty of open mic nights, less so for comedy and more so for poetry and prose but they are insufferable. I once asked someone to take my place on stage and they would not do it. Surprise surprise.

I was at that show. It was my first time seeing Steve Hofstetter live after discovering him on CZcams. I was so excited (he's one of my favorite comedians), but when that exchange happened I remember feeling ashamed and uncomfortable. Steve, on behalf of the Vancouverites who were enjoying your show, I apologize that you weren't treated with the respect and courtesy you deserve as an artist, both in the moment and after the fact. Kudos to you on how you handled the situation. I hope you'll consider returning to Vancouver in the future!

I'm American and had no clue about the back story on hobby lobby. It's mostly in the South I believe, although it is a common 'brand name' for generic hobby/model shops. Like calling an adhesive bandage a 'band-aid'.

I never knew Judaism had a close link with comedy in their religion, that’s amazing! The feeling of being able to make someone laugh or smile has always been a huge thing in my family, humor and comedy helps us get through our toughest times and my grandfather likes to say that “if he can make even one random person smile/laugh then everything is all worth it, everything is gonna be okay.” To think that there’s a religion that has a similar belief is amazing to me and makes me smile. I’m gonna have to look more into Judaism as a whole now, my interest is peaked.

At my friend's church the pastor, who is my friend's dad, regularly jokes around. Sometimes he goes a little too far with a joke and people will hold up the yellow prayer cards like it's a soccer match. They're a fun bunch.

Em Hu oh most definitely. I see in the LGBT+ community all the time. Whenever ace/aro/nonbinary/whatever discourse comes around and the community starts the split, homo/transphobes don’t even have to work hard to reduce it to crumbs, sometimes the community does it themselves.
That’s why it’s so important that even with divides there’s a reminder to stay civil and more importantly, stay willing to defend each other when oppression does come around for the community. Once that’s done, the focus on intersectionality with activism starts to become a lot easier and progress gets made faster.
When I picture Steve Hofstetter in my mind’s eye, I see him in full chain mail armor, leaping over a pile of vanquished hecklers, about to smite the next hater like it’s a movie poster.

@@ANMS.cyberpunk I'm having an issue even taking the first step and getting booked somewhere or doing an open mic. I have about two hours or so of material I know will kill, I'm just terrified of a crowd.
The closest to an acceptable heckle in that situation: "Hey man, I work at hobby lobby, we're not nazis!"
And then Steve goes "But you *are* asshole enough to shout out during shows, so close enough"
The people who run the company are real pieces of shit though.
