- Decided to have NIRVC-Atlanta remodel our battery bay so we could install 960 Ah of Lithionics Lithium Batteries and Victron Controls to provide more usable power for our 2014 Newmar Dutch Star Model 4369 Motorhome.
NIRVC provided an "installation discount" to Sue & Mark. We used our Motorhome as the platform for a "pilot learning program". Additionally, it afforded us the opportunity to capture the process on film and produce this Lithium Battery Install Series for everyone to follow!
I wasn't going to make the same mistake again and install AGM Batteries!
Our 880 Ah of AGM were like having a bank of 440Ah lithium. We decided to step into a battery setup that is more suitable for RV Travel, and leave battery anxiety and low capacity behind! Our new system will feel like twice the batteries that we had!
This series is three parts:
Part 1: Shows what our current battery and inverter setup is.
Part 2: (This Video) Shows what was all involved removing the old Lifeline AGM batteries, battery slide out tray and remodeling the battery compartment so it is weather proof and temperature controlled.
Part 3: Here we show the installation of all the batteries and Victron Control equipment.

Looking forward to part 3 and the cost breakdown for the upgrade. NIRVC always seems so well run and professional. Enjoyed the video, thanks for posting!
We are going to the 2024 Tampa RV show next week, and will have a Meet N' Greet on THURSDAY JANUARY 18TH 2024 AT 12:30 PM in the "Red Barn" Influencer building area. We will be hitting the Margaritaville Resort after that, so the last lithium upgrade video #3 will be in late January of early February!
WOW a whole new bay constructed! This is exciting! Looking forward to Part 3! ~Big C in the DP 📢 ::: Air Horn 📢 ::: ::: Air Breaks! ::: 🚌🚌🚌
Thanks Carlal.
Excellent video of excellent workmanship done by NIRVC. Can't wait for part 3 and the finished product.
Coming soon! This video may take a few weeks to get to. The Tampa RV Show is taking a toll on our schedule.
I love seeing how this is all coming together and can't wait to see part 3. I'm glad you installed the lighting so you can show off the amazing craftsmanship the techs put into Myles.
I was worried 1700 lumen per bay would be too much. I should have went with (2) strips per bay for 3400 lumens!

Professional craftsmanship, camera and video editing job! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Leon!
Space shuttle to Mars!
I am a firm believer in first making a cardboard template. But that guy has mad skills!
He use to work at a van conversion place in the 80s😅
I am a big believer in templates as well. A person can really get the fit perfect then. Jim was that good that he didn't need no stink'in template!!!
Jimbo had mad skills! He worked at NASA... @@OurJourneyInMyles
It’s amazing.. I don’t even own a Rig of any kind but I just love to watch the both of you on your journey with Myles .. I enjoy each and every video.. thanks
We wish we had 55,000 more viewers like you so when we sell the RV, your still watching our channel!
@@OurJourneyInMyles the Rv doesn’t have the personality about the you have it’s because of both of you that I watch the channel. Yes I will.
Mark….. another great video. You have an amazing ability to captivate. I WISH I was wired the way you are.
Wow, thanks for the kind comment!
Nice job documenting the whole process! I'm definitely going to copy this in my rig at some point. 😊
I am copying a few folks I found on irv2 dot com as well!
Hi Mark and Sue! Great video! I enjoyed it. It’s always good to watch how they do the upgrades. It looks very nice so far. They are doing a great job! Can’t wait until you the 3 video. Thank you Mark and Sue for a great video!
The third video will happen in February 2024.
@@OurJourneyInMyles
Oh ok! Good! Can’t wait to see it. Have a great week.
After reading the response and questions now I have nothing to ask. So far so good.
Got it!
Just want to compliment you on your excellent video work and commentary of some impressive installation skills. Thanks!
Only skill I have is opening my wallet! NIRVC is the brains and brawn in this project.
As retired electrician of residential, old yachts and car stereo systems (way back in the 80's-90's) I just love these types of very detailed videos - thank you so very much. I wish I would have thought to video when I rewired my old 1960 & 1961 Chris Craft Connies - I did not even take photos 😪. Looking forward to 3/3!
Very cool! Those photos would have taken you down memory lane!
What about conducting the heat and the cold?
What a nice job they are doing Mark . I love every wire , connector , and peice of equipment. So proud for you and Sue to have such a nice place called home. Thanks for sharing this video with me I have learned so much.
Thanks for stopping in to check up Jeff.
Hey guys late to the plate today. Just as I expected top notch work being done by the NIRVC team. Looking forward to see the completed work either at Tampa RV show or later in the month. I read your doing the AIM dinner during the show, we are also signed up. Question I posted your 1st video on a few FB RV groups and the few people were asking if all NIRVC could do this type upgrade. Safe travels my friends…
NIRVC-Atlanta is the place to get this type of work done at this time. The plan is to expand this Lithium retro-fit work to the other locations in the future.
Sue & I will be at the Florida RV Show Tuesday 1-16-2024 thru Saturday 1-20-2024, and will leave on Sunday morning 1-21-2024. We plan to troll around all day long, …..every day.
On Thursday 01-18-2024 at 12:30 pm we will have a “shared” Meet and Greet with CZcams Channel "RV America Y’all” with Tom & Stacie! This is in the “Red Barn” building, right next to Alliance Trailers, across from the General RV Center!
Looking good...Anxious to see the Cost breakdown. Quality workmanship!
Coming soon!
SUCH A NICE RIG 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Hope when it comes time to sell folks think the same.
I'm learning through these videos why you use NIRV.. They do great work.. Thanks OJM
We are spoiled working with NIRVC. Everyone else seems like a back yard garage setup. When they drop the ball on a repair, they HAVE ALWAYS stepped back up to the plate to fix it!
@@OurJourneyInMylesI like that they have multiple locations. I look forward to the next video
Watching this with great interest as we contemplate a battery and inverter upgrade on our coach. Since we are currently in the Lewisville TX area, we stopped at the NIRVC there, only to find they don't work on coaches older than 2010. That was disappointing news.
@@jerrybonniwell2133 Wow! That is the first time I ever hear that, Hope it's not true, cuz Sue & I will be SOL!
Great video, NIRVC does awesome work! Looking forward to seeing part 3 and when you actually test the system and how long you can run at least 1 AC. Safe travels.
We are testing now as I type!
Be careful… you’re making the basement bays as nice as your RV’s interior! Can’t wait for part 3.
Thanks for watching Foto!
JPT... now i know to save that Styrofoam next time I get it in a box! Jim really does nice work. I had a very poor experience at NIRVC Vegas (where when I asked them to winterize they blew out the lines rather than using antifreeze, despite the bottles of antifreeze on the floor). But Your experiences at NIRVC have been amazing and give me faith to try again. I wish there was an NIRVC Reno (nearest to me).
We have had a few encounters that were not 100%, but when I questioned the results, NIRVC stepped up to the place and made me whole again. I never expected perfection,.......but most of the time they get pretty darn close!
Nice free plug (again) for NIRV. Not all of us have had that great of an experience with them. In my experience, they have good upper management but lack sorely in their implementers.

Thank you for your answer. As I said previously, I have nothing but praise for their upper management but they make commitments that their service department just can't or won't meet (I think it's more won't than can't). Perhaps the difference is that I'm not going in with a camera and a 41K CZcams subscriber base. I think it also helps greatly to own a Newmar (their bread and butter sales brand). Our Tiffin didn't get much love . . . and it cost us a bunch.@@OurJourneyInMyles
Myles is looking better every episode Mark! Can’t wait til the next one. Make it an hour long please!
We would lose 200 subscribers if it was that long!
@@OurJourneyInMyles Lol!
Excellent in depth episode(s) on a "professional " lithium power conversion, anxiously awaiting the final installment. 👏

Shocking transformation!
Look forward to hear how it impacted your power and comfort.
No pun intended!
Amazing Technician
Jim was friggin awesome!
very impresive safe travels
Thanks Allan.
looking real good ... I know you will get a better result compared to what you had ...
I can already see my batteries where dead and we didn't even know it!
Hi chanman Happy New Year to you and Sue. The rig looks awesome. Between the ceramic coating and the Chrome it really looks good. You surprise me with the lithium batteries you always said it wasn't worth it. You always plug into the pedestal. I switch also to lithium it gets me through my Harvest hosts stays. Looking
forward to next week's video. I enjoy these type of videos.
Thank you
Happy new year! I always said I should have NOT bought my last set of AGM! And the lithium is just so my batteries are much more usable this time around. We rely on them much more than the average person because we are full time.
Great content!
Thanks!
More good coverage that is quite interesting. Thanks! NNTR
Thanks,...
Great job on the video. We really enjoy the videos that both of you do each week.
It looks like NIRVC Atlanta did a great job on this install. One question I have is did they put anything to cover the ground side of the plywood floor that they installed in the battery bay?
Awesome! Thank you! Yes,......Jim installed aluminum sheeting underneath the marine grade premium plywood. It is facing the road side.
Looks great. Looks like you will have a couple protang sticks to put somewhere else. Oh. Did they waterproof the underside of that ply floor??? You will have a new coach when you’re all done.
Underside was covered in aluminum sheeting. A GIANT coil of Proteng was added to this battery compartment.
I can’t imagine what the $$ cost was? Anxiously awaiting part 3
I will discuss the costs in video #3 OR #4.
How is episode 3 progressing? Looking forward to this one!
This while be in about 3 weeks,..........the Tampa RV Show, Camp Margaritaville and traveling to our final resort have to happen first.
Maybe getting ahead of myself and this will be covered in Part 3, but how much basement/compartment space did you give up with this install vs. stock set up? Fantastic video documentation, you should work for PBS and David Attenborough doing Planet Earth documentaries! 😉
I will do a calculation to state the %, but we actually gain about 6 or 7 sq feet! See you soon,.....and we signed up for the AIM dinner on Thursday as well.
Excellent!!!!@@OurJourneyInMyles
I love watching your videos. Have you ever thought of creating a second site on CZcams. One site is how to do/maintain of an RV, Second is the adventure channel….
I am actually getting ready to do less videos,........the work load is taking its toll.
@@OurJourneyInMyles noooo. You can’t slow down now.
You do a fantastic job, we don’t want less…. You’re the Chan Man!!!!
Marc I hope they put a heavy gauge metal sheet under that plywood?
It was aluminum sheet metal ,........construction glued,........ to the highest grade of marine plywood. Jim did a first class install.
👍🏻👏
Thanks for stopping by!
Good video are you installing lithium or volta how many batteries 🤔😀
Lithionics 3 x 320 Ah with a giant external BMS. We are not adding and inverter. We are NOT hooking it to the Air Conditioner.
Could you please give us the link exactly what batteries you have installed? We may need to do just that. Thank you

Is Atlanta the only dealership that does this kind of work for NIRVC?
NIRVC-Atlanta is the place to get this type of work done at this time. The plan is to expand this Lithium retro-fit work to the other locations in the future. Contact Justin Townley at NIRVC-Atlanta at 770-979-4051 to inquire about your installation.
Please sell me the old magnum. I'll pay shipping?
Hey Terry. I was waiting to see if NIRVC tech staff was going to toss the old inverter, or keep it. That is why it has taken a week for me to reply. You are actually the third person to want it. I had offered it to the NIRVC service dept. when they quoted my job. They are going to keep it for training, which I was personally super impressed that they do things like that. That is the best way to learn,.......hands on! Thanks for watching Terry.
Thanks. Love the vids
