- Recently we did a side-by-side comparison of our 2019 Ford Mustang GT S550 and our new 2024 Ford Mustang GT S650 to see what is different on the new model. Today - we're going to take another couple 0-60 MPH test runs to see which is quicker! Which do you think will be quicker?

Perfection on testing these two. Put them on the same spec tire and did it in the same conditions. Could not have done it any better. Great job. Also appreciate you not doing a rollout with these times and doing a true 0 to 60mph test

Great video. I appreciate you using the same tires on both. So often car performance comparisons are really tire comparisons. The roll out explanation has to do with drag strips using a beam of light for the timing that is tripped by one of the tires, it doesn’t start recording until the tire has rolled past.

Yep, some cars can look good on paper, but the real world tells the real story
@@lldjslim Yep, look at what 1LT Z51 Vette does with just 495 hp. They can consistently lay down 2.8second 0-60's on street tires. Not on a strip either, just on any plain old road.All about how something works. Albeit two different cars but still killer numbers. The old C7's laid down a decent time for what they had too.
@@MovieMuscle Consider too the 911S with 443 HP, it walks the 1LT Z51. Weighs less, but also it's rear-engine vs C8 mid-engine. In this case of the 911S, C8 and S550/S650 looking at dyno numbers is irrelevant and drivetrain configuration is everything.

Just tried mine for fun, 0-60 at 4.3; 2014 mustang gt track pack w/stock wheels etc. that was read on my dashboard
What’s crazy is, I just bought a 2024 eco. After 700 miles I tested my acceleration timer 0-60 in my car. I got consistent 5 to 5.1-2 times over and over. That’s with a full tank of 87 gas and zero drag strip/racing experience what so ever lol. Pretty fast for a 4cyl
put it in drag strip mode and brake torque. I tried once and with a shit launch and advanced traction control on I got 4.74 you can definitely go faster.

Fun video, but how about a track? I've tried to get into drag racing, but, for myself, it doesn't hit me like cars around a track. Maybe a base to base comparison and, at some point, a Mach 1 to Dark Horse comparison?

Great video l really love the new mustang little quicker than the third gen
my tuned 4 cylinder Camaro can do 4.7sec 0-60. I'm able to keep up with those GT. Top end sucks tho. Not bad since I only spent 2k on upgrades.
More seat time I think the 650 would get even better 60fts. Would love to see them side by side on the strip 10speed vs 10speed eliminate driver shifting differences.
s650 has some weird traction control bogging at the start, or torque reduction
@Rafaahh yea, that bog was killing its momentum for sure.
There's no torque and a heavy car, the 3.55 rear gear is hurting it with the 6 speed gearing
We need a side by side drag race and roll race.
Great video. What gear options available for manuals? It's possible that the 3.55 rear option isn't the quickest to 60.
If it was a 10 speed it would be. I'd be willing to bet in a manual 3.73 would get the best 0-60

The s650 spun second pretty hard that first time. I need some 305/45r17 mickeys. my 305/35r19 nitto 555r aren't cutting it.
since the gen 4 is really an updated 15-17 car, do a comparison of them!

I'm surprised you couldn't get better times. I have a 650 with the 10 speed and 3.55 gears. I did a run with me and my dad in the car and got 4.73 going up a slight incline. I've got the standard all seasons too.
Might depend on his elevation as well. High elevation kills NA engine power due to the thinner air.

Is the MT82 that bad? My 2019 GT Auto on Bridgestone Potenza S001s with traction on clocks a 4.3 while spinning til ~40mph
You mentioned not using traction control. Can you educate me on why you wouldn't use it for your launch?
Pro tip, use a 10 speed...
Time to throw the Gen 1 S197, Gen 2-3 S550 and the S650 on the strip. Why not show the underdog some love too and throw in a 3v?😎
nice video as usual! Just goes to show you can get caught up on brochure figures or what Car and Driver, Motor Trend, etc all say.. how you get off the line and how confident you are as a drive as well as driving conditions make every car different almost from day to day when trying to compare whos actually faster. What would be interesting is watching the comparison of these two in a 3rd or 4th gear pull run.. say a 60 or 70 to 120+. No traction issues, all gearing/power.

Good video, would have been an amazing video if you also did the times with stock tires. Maybe a seperate video for stock tires? Still would hav3 been better on same day day same conditions.

Idk kinda like the looks of new mustang its growing on me.
Still dont think the extra weight is good though going backwards should be losing weight not gaining.
But at least we still have the mustang and fords still putting money into it keeping mustang alive. Unlike chevy going away from the camaro basically same car since 2016 what a shame.
I guess dodge will have challenger for another year but nothing has changed same car same body for how many years now. So ya at least fords trying to keep American mussel alive even if there going backwards in weight department lol!!

I will post a video of the stock summer only tires. This will be from a deaf stop. My 2024 S650 is route. Stock 275s in the rear and 255s. The content creator optioned his S650 wrong.

The S650 definitely sounded stronger off the line. I think if you spent longer working on the S550 launch, you could click off a 4.7 since the 60 ft times are identical. Great job on the apples to apples comparison, Justin! Keep up the real shit!
Just what I thought! Everyone keeps saying these are faster than my 07 GT500, but my 07 does 4.4 sec all the time no problems and with those tires probably faster!!
how did motor trend in their first test 12 years ago get an '11 to do it in 4.3
Does that S650 have the Tremec? Reason I ask is because it looks more solid than the S550 MT82 when I saw you shift.
