watching this just days after Jason passing leaves me sad that I never got to meet this fine person.

the reasons he loves sheep hunting is the reason I love elk hunting. Its a challenge I throw at myself, and I love that.

Great motivator....wish that he had found a different path!
Had to bail off a mountain in BC because the guide had brought a cheap Coleman tent that blew out poles the first time a gust hit it. With rain and snow moving in, and a ripped shelter with broken poles, we had to get down the mountain and back to the base cabin. That blew the day spent goin up, the day spent going down and the time to get a replacement tent. That was four days gone. With just two days left to hunt we couldn’t go back up the mountain so hunted the lower reaches by logging road. Saw nothing…. Bring your own tent. It might save the hunt.

Interesting that Jason recommends not using a pack until 90 days prior to the hunt. I hike 2.5 mile with an 1850 pack and 35# of sand (total #40) almost every day and have no negative impact on my joints. I'm 67. One thing Jason does not mention is a stand-up desk. I spend 3-4 hours a day at my desk on a computer or doing paperwork. The standup desk is good for leg endurance and posture.
Very much appreciate Jason. Can you provide a high mountian mule deer seminar? This would provide valuable information to the masses of your customers.
Thanks for the suggestion, Bob. We'll look at that for a future Mountain Academy event--Shaun Ayers, our lead technical designer, is an avid mule deer hunter, so maybe we'll tap his expertise.
Even though he hadn't played football in years, those hits took a toll on his brain and the symptoms were just too much for him to over come.
hey I'm curious. I have a similiar workout plan going and I also fast. This will be my first sheep hunt since I started fasting, I'm curious about what you plan to do on your sheep hunt? Will you be fasting up there? I'm thinking I'll fast on the less "walky" days. what are you planning to do?
There's no reason to fast on the mountain--on your less walky days, you'll need to recover from the massive calorie debt you've incurred on your big hike days. The fasting is a training measure only, to get his body used to being in calorie debt so it's not as shocking when he's hiking hard all day.
Will there be another Mountain Academy? I regret not attending in 18... Please continue the culture.

Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance
This gear is awesome but I would shoot a mountain goat with a camera and nothing else.
im glad you felt like you needed to share with us your feelings on shooting a goat. Nobody cares bud.
@@montanamike7948 I don't need a special feeling to shoot a Goat with a cam. The picture of a live Mountain Goat would show that I was there ( if I went to the trouble of hiking in Alaska ) and the Goat would be free to show up in another cam or to get shot by a "trophy hunter". These giant Grazers are not infinite you know and it would be a shame for the Gov. to be forced to implant more of them since a Gov. program would never result in the same Majestic Beasts that are present now and might not even succeed considering the extreme climate and the increasing popularity of hunts. Ofc. I would bring a powerful gun or an armed guide to hold my hand. For self defense.
