Managing 30+ alphas, all testosterone-charged, slightly dehydrated, with cortisol-reduced thinking processes, a baying one-eyed crowd and a beautifully arcane set of Laws, to be done at pace. To get to the top of that and stay on top. Enormous effort. I'd love to shake his hand and say thank you.

      Hogg dived when being tackled while taking a relieving kick. The game was at Newcastle Utd football ground if memory serves me. He said 'if you want to do that come back in 2 weeks time' basically when football was being played. Fantastic line and I'm a Scot :-)

    I know everyone talks about football with these type of refs. But, these sort of videos need to be taught young footballers coming through. Its appalling the amount of disrespect players have for refs. Tougher discipline is needed. This sort of attitude is needed in football. Although I prefer football, it puts football players and refs to shame.

      If football had the sin bin i would think bad mouthing refs would be far less, losing a key player for ten minutes would create more space too

      @@eggy1962 I'm all for a sin bin in football/soccer, also because it would clamp down on tactical fouls and should increase scoring. Only issue I can see is that a flurry or cards, which sometimes happens in that sport, would lead to an 8-on-8 game for several minutes.

      @@Liggie55821 i think it would cut down ref abuse which is bad in football, as for losing several players in one incident then so be it....plenty of open space to take advantage of. It would still take a while to work as football players are not always the sharpest tools in the box.

      TBF rugby is a physical game. Players know they need the ref to keep them safe, as well as apply rules.

      @Liggie55821 Před 3 lety

      @@stephenrossiter2679 Come to think of it, American football should have a version of the sin bin. Commit a personal foul penalty, you have to sit for the rest of the drive (or the next drive, if that play was the last of the drive).
      Re: soccer, I'm more interested in a sin bin to prevent "professional" fouls. Often a team that gives the ball away in midfield will hack down an opponent and purposely earn a yellow card, so they can prevent a quick counterattack and let their defenders get set. Commentators and coaches will call those "good" cards, a phrase I think that should never be uttered. Goals that arise from a professional foul binning should make those fouls less appealing.
