It matters to me too, but I want to point out that, if we do live in a simulation because scientist finally has evidence of the universe being a simulation, we still encounter bad luck and awful things happening in our life. Tears are tears. Even if you yourself know this is a simulation because it’s the talk of the day, your emotions still feel the same as before. It isn’t a cure of any kind. Although I will be relieved if we are lucky 🍀 enough to prove the simulation hypothesis is real. To repeat what I’ve said before: I believe that the simulation is a real possibility. Even as a child when I grew up into my puberty and later on to adolescence and maturity there after, I have a feeling that something is off in one way or another. It’s difficult to describe the feelings I have. But if you experience a similar scenario like me, you know what I am aware of.
What really blows me away is that there is no true beginning! Or another way to look at it is where does God come from? And where does his creator come from, and so on, and so on! My brain gets overwhelmed by it all! The fact that we're in this reality at all is a magical mystical miraculous marvelous magnificent momentous experience!
The biggest problem I've noticed gets in the way, is that people feel so uncomfortable about the idea that energy and consciousness could exist on their own, without needing to be wrapped in matter with a Duracell logo slapped on the side, and controlled by a computer. Most people tend to be materialists, so the existence of the esoteric makes them nervous, and the idea of the esoteric being proven by science makes them even more nervous. Easier to dismiss an emotionally uncomfortable idea, than to embrace real science and explore the unknown. Most people want consistency and predictability. They don't want to look at unknowns, or ideas about their reality that are foreign to their minds. They want everything to be as it has always been, and the idea that it will always continue to be as such, gives them a sense of comfort. A sense of stability. Even in the worst of times going through situations they hate, most people feel "better to deal with the devil we know" -- because a completely foreign idea, even if its a good idea with lots of positive potential, is the scariest most horrifying thing in the world to the materialist mind that is hooked on ego satisfaction, ego gratification and addiction.

I think you're wrong there, my friend. Your words may describe some people, but the main reason most people tend to lean to materialism isn't fear of the unknown - or unknowable. It's because good evidence of "spirits" or consciousness w/o a material framework is severely lacking. There are lots of claims in that direction, but no good evidence that such a consciousness is even possible. Frankly, I'd love to find evidence of that - I've been searching a long time, but so far the "evidence" evaporates when put to the test, or it's a conclusion based on misinterpreted data or perception, or it's outright fraud or trickery.
We know nothing absolutely. Theories gain consensus and build into bundles of “potential truth”. Then later debunked and replaced with new theories. I choose to keep an open mind to any potential without the need to believe any of it. All things are possible. None of it is necessary for a peaceful full life.

I mean ive heard alot near death stories, and most people say that you dont die after “death”. You just leave this reality and go back to “source” or “God”. I just keep a open mind so im not saying its true cause its just what i heard but interesting how most near death experiences sound alike in a way.

It’s common understanding to think that the brain is what gives us consciousness, but I’ve heard from near death experiences. The brain is actually a reducing valve. If not, it would be too too much information because it would be everything everywhere all at once. We need the brain to reduce all the other stuff that we don’t need so that we can have this experience here, so there’s no need to generate a mind because consciousness exists independent of the brain. BTW, it was a neuroscientist that had a near death experience that I’m talking about.
I agree… the central nervous system is our VR set and the body is the VR suit… In ancient times people were very aware if this and spiritual leaders (priests, elders, shamans, etc) were using herbs and other concoctions to alter brain function and “disconnect” from this filter in order to see and experience more and then come back to share with others what they have learned… I believe that in near death experiences something similar happens, there is a brief disconnection from the filter (the central nervous system) and the consciousness is no longer confined to the physical body. I think we probably do live in a simulation a 3D simulation, what I’ve noticed as a photographer from the film days, if you push film it becomes grainy… later digital if pushed it becomes noisy basically the same…sitting in dark room you soon become aware of the graininess of the light particles moving about. let me know if also you have noticed this phenomenon

That's true, and most likely this is also not quite accurate. We interpret things based on our knowledge, experience, culture, and always within our limits. So if religions are not quite accurate and are heavily influenced by the aforementioned factors, so is the simulation theory.

based on modern computing alone i think we now have to concede it's absolutely plausible that someone could create a simulation of the caliber required eventually. unfortunately, it's a damn good simulation if so and knowing that doesn't really change anything practically speaking. there's very real tangible consequences for our actions
IMO, the cost and programming a computer for advanced beings would bring exactly what benefit to the Designers? For me it all starts with needing a motive. And the Designers could never be sure of the results. So what would they gain? Finally would the creation of billions of human minds, is it possible, even with the technology presumably available in that far theoretical in the far future? And that is not even taking into account the physical world including the actions astral bodies, random field fluctuations, the consciousness in animals, and all that is happening at microscopic, atomic, subatomic levels, and God only knows what else. I think we are WAY overthinking it! I KNOW that I have a soul. We as humans on earth will never know what our true existence is. I highly doubt we are in a computer simulation, that is very disturbing.
here is a perspective.....we do live in a simulation, however, its only a simulation as in God already knows everything a person will do, but we do have free will, just because God knows what we will do does not change the fact that we are the one that makes the choice, this so called "simulation" is a test to see if you will obey God and are worthy to experience His "real world" which is Heaven.
The best example of a convincingly real simulation is a dream! 😅 We all have a computer the size of a small cabbage that can make a simulation so realistic that we mostly are convinced it's real (until we wake up). I was in a lucid dream, once (and realising I was in a simulation) and I told others in the dream that they wearn't real (and that offended them). 😅 In another lucid dream, I was inside and realised I was in a simulation (and sensed that I might wake up soon). I immediately ran outside as fast as I could (before I wake up) cos I knew I would be able to fly! When I was outside I flew straight up vertically till I got like a few hundred feet high (and it was late dusk) and then at that moment I woke up (unfortunately). In another lucid dream I tested colour or black&white, detail in my "vision", tapping sounds on glass and wood, and (in another lucid dream) I tested for taste. I actually did science experiments in my lucid dreams and actually have data (in the awake world) that to me is real scientific data! 😅 Colour is a thing in my lucid dream and super detail in my "vision" that is better! And I could taste! In the other lucid dream. I was as excited as Niel de Grasse Tyson, actually saying it was a science experiment in my dream. 😅
Unsolved Mysteries: 1. Solving infinities at the quantum level - do they exist? 2. Solve the vacuum energy catastrophe - why are predictions off by 50 ~100 orders of magnitude? 3. Is spacetime quantized (fundamental) or emergent? Solve any one of these and this would change everything we thought we understood about the universe. Solving the mystery of gravity would be a big one too - but I'm guessing it will be solved when one or all of the other three are solved.
There's a saying amongst SW engineers: "every conceptual problem can be solved by adding one more level of indirection. It seems to me that science recently is doing just that. Except maybe that science can never actually follow on these hypothesis. To me it's all just a result of stubborn believe that all is matter and all can be modelled as such. The planet itself is alive, therefore it too has consciousness. To me the connection any plant needs to earth by soil is obvious. Take a plant out of earth soil it dies. Lay the plant on the ground it still dies. Take it put it in a container of soil (replanted) the plant will live. I think that there is a serious omission here of a thing called scale. A cockroach might fear and understand the threat of a gecko or even the sole a a man's shoe, but the roach has no concept of the foot inside the shoe or the human who owns it. We create simulations all the time. Games, programming, molecular, economic and business models. Are the components or agents within these models self aware? I would say they are not. The simulation author defines how many data points can be created by the simulation. How would a simulation all us the freedom we have to do the things we do and create the effects in matter and knowledge that we create?
Simple lucid dreams are evidence that the material world is a misconception . If you never woke from a lucid dream you have shifted realities without really realizing it.

Hard to do when I got to work 40+ hours a week, sleep, get ready, buy food, hygiene, chores, commute and watch parents to accommodate them whenever they need something or have some sort of injury that requires my assistance! I agree… the central nervous system is our VR set and the body is the VR suit… In ancient times people were very aware if this and spiritual leaders (priests, elders, shamans, etc) were using herbs and other concoctions to alter brain function and “disconnect” from this filter in order to see and experience more and then come back to share with others what they have learned… I believe that in near death experiences something similar happens, there is a brief disconnection from the filter (the central nervous system) and the consciousness is no longer confined to the physical body. I wonder if in schizophrenia and episodes of psychosis there is something similar happening, but while the person is still confined within the physical body, the brain fails to filter out everything and these people perceive way more than they are supposed to, they don’t fully disconnect from the simulation of reality so they kind of get a superposition of different realities, realms or dimensions? their VR set is defective and they are not fully plugged in the simulation and at the same time not free to move outside of it

I think we probably do live in a simulation a 3D simulation, what I’ve noticed as a photographer from the film days, if you push film it becomes grainy… later digital if pushed it becomes noisy basically the same…sitting in dark room you soon become aware of the graininess of the light particles moving about. let me know if also you have noticed this phenomenon

That's true, and most likely this is also not quite accurate. We interpret things based on our knowledge, experience, culture, and always within our limits. So if religions are not quite accurate and are heavily influenced by the aforementioned factors, so is the simulation theory.
I like what Alan Watts proposed…he said imagine that you were God and wanted to experience the infinite possibilities that can exist…….its easy to imagine adventures of all sorts, fortune, fame, gain loss, the list goes on and on…..however You would eventually find yourself right here right now, to put a real spin on things you would create a scenario where you forgot who you are…you would get so lost in the character that you would believe you were completely vulnerable to all kinds of things, and especially the idea that you could die…not exist anymore, and this experience would be so traumatic that when you woke up you would be enthralled to regain your self awareness to know that you were just playing a game and you are God!

IMO, the cost and programming a computer for advanced beings would bring exactly what benefit to the Designers? For me it all starts with needing a motive. And the Designers could never be sure of the results. So what would they gain? Finally would the creation of billions of human minds, is it possible, even with the technology presumably available in that far theoretical in the far future? And that is not even taking into account the physical world including the actions astral bodies, random field fluctuations, the consciousness in animals, and all that is happening at microscopic, atomic, subatomic levels, and God only knows what else. All of this strikes me as the mental masterbations of geniuses bent on making people start to actually think, and to realize how simple minded that they are. Which could result in tremendous benefits over time.

Why assume that there is a “cost” within a realm that is capable of producing such an environment or a simulation ? Cost and financial value may be just concepts of the environment/simulation to manage and control us all…and may not exist in the creator realm….Maybe we are not physical in the sense that we’ve been told…everything we think we KNOW, we were TOLD…even if we conduct our own experiments, they will always follow scientific parameters that we were TOLD. I think we are WAY overthinking it! I KNOW that I have a soul. We as humans on earth will never know what our true existence is. I highly doubt we are in a computer simulation, that is very disturbing.

The best example of a convincingly real simulation is a dream! 😅 We all have a computer the size of a small cabbage that can make a simulation so realistic that we mostly are convinced it's real (until we wake up). I was in a lucid dream, once (and realising I was in a simulation) and I told others in the dream that they wearn't real (and that offended them). 😅 In another lucid dream, I was inside and realised I was in a simulation (and sensed that I might wake up soon). I immediately ran outside as fast as I could (before I wake up) cos I knew I would be able to fly! When I was outside I flew straight up vertically till I got like a few hundred feet high (and it was late dusk) and then at that moment I woke up (unfortunately). In another lucid dream I tested colour or black&white, detail in my "vision", tapping sounds on glass and wood, and (in another lucid dream) I tested for taste. I actually did science experiments in my lucid dreams and actually have data (in the awake world) that to me is real scientific data! 😅 Colour is a thing in my lucid dream and super detail in my "vision" that is better! And I could taste! In the other lucid dream. I was as excited as Niel de Grasse Tyson, actually saying it was a science experiment in my dream. 😅
What is here today is gone tomorrow but returns to form another day.
Unsolved Mysteries: 1. Solving infinities at the quantum level - do they exist? 2. Solve the vacuum energy catastrophe - why are predictions off by 50 ~100 orders of magnitude? 3. Is spacetime quantized (fundamental) or emergent? Solve any one of these and this would change everything we thought we understood about the universe. Solving the mystery of gravity would be a big one too - but I'm guessing it will be solved when one or all of the other three are solved.

It seems to me that science recently is doing just that. Except maybe that science can never actually follow on these hypothesis.
To me it's all just a result of stubborn believe that all is matter and all can be modelled as such. Except it's not working and hence the need for indirections that cannot be followed and as such neither proven nor disproven.

I think that there is a serious omission here of a thing called scale. A cockroach might fear and understand the threat of a gecko or even the sole a a man's shoe, but the roach has no concept of the foot inside the shoe or the human who owns it. Also it seems that computer power presented here was related to the current and projected understanding of computer hierarchy. Once again limited by not considering scale. In terms of creation beliefs, for a while I was sure we were just a lab experiment in a "petri dish" on a counter in some enyity's workshop. Probably one of many such experiments. Once again, scale.

We create simulations all the time. Games, programming, molecular, economic and business models. Are the components or agents within these models self aware? I would say they are not. The simulation author defines how many data points can be created by the simulation. How would a simulation all us the freedom we have to do the things we do and create the effects in matter and knowledge that we create?
Simple lucid dreams are evidence that the material world is a misconception . If you never woke from a lucid dream you have shifted realities without really realizing it.
I believe in a deity of higer order outside of our own order that through wisdom created all things yes it's like a simulation with a divine purpose which is the ultimate: GOOD itself. The Bible attributes to Jesus being God's wisdom personified.

Hard to do when I got to work 40+ hours a week, sleep, get ready, buy food, hygiene, chores, commute and watch parents to accommodate them whenever they need something or have some sort of injury that requires my assistance! Source or the Great Creator creates the Oversoul, we all belong to an Oversoul, and. there are many Oversouls.
