HOW TO ROUNDNET: The Cut Serve

- Scissors, lawnmowers, knives.. All of these cut pretty well and would hurt you pretty bad but nothing compares to how bad your opponents ego will suffer when you hit them with a NASTY cut serve!
This is no karate chop business, this is full fledged hand hugging, ball spinning, wrist flicking, blast past your opponent goodness!! Although it may seem simple and there may seem like there's more to the legendairy ( sorry really trying to milk that joke.. :P) cut serve.. it really just comes down to where you hit it on your hand and the flick of the wrist.
Look at the flick of that wrist *insert song here*.. but really, when developing a cut serve, take a little SLO MO video and make sure you're producing the right spin :)

You are describing the direction of the spin exactly OPPOSITE to what you actually do when you hit it.
Should be the same, its a confusing concept. We posted a video on instagram that sort of explains it more
@@HOWTOROUNDNET it’s not an explanation thing. Listen to yourself at 1:21, then watch your slo-mo hits at 2:47. You SAY it should be counter-clockwise. You go into quite some detail actually. Then you throw it clockwise. Then you hit it. Clockwise.

@@HOWTOROUNDNET Brad is right you are doing exactly what you said not to do : pulling your hand across the ball instead of snapping your wrsit like a volleyball spike.
the side spin was described about the wrong axis. it isn’t spinning about a vertical axis but a horizontal axis pointing away from you. it’s like how top spin is away from you and back spin is towards you, side is in between. you can test out by spinning ball sideways as you flip it onto a net. you still do flick your wrist as you hit, preston is right about that. just for a bigger volleyball and a smaller spikeball it looks different
In the slow-mo the ball really seems to be going top-spin + clock-wise side-spin, no ?

That’s what you need for it to move. If it was just spinning like a top, there’d be very little change in direction when it hits the net. Think about rolling a ball on a table. If you spin it like a top, it barely moves. If it’s spinning like top spin but from left to right, it takes off

@@bloogaming8827 actually because it hits the net and the net cups around the ball it generates a vertical wall which then lets the spin that you talk about cut to the left (because the ball now has a vertical wall and not a horizontal one where it would not cut out)
