This movie is a masterpiece.
+++
Damn right it is.
Always.
Its a shame that not allot of people know this great movie thats one of its kind treasure.
Not really the movie have to much problems but k transformación on joi and the love with joi that was a Masterpiece of character
One of the best movies of all time it’s a shame how underrated it was and is
Wasn’t underrated. It was just a shame not a lot of people watched it.
@@aidanbae3158 I would say a little of both. Back when we were able to have social functions the sci-fi genre came up in a discussion. 10 people were there and only 1 person saw the movie and said they didn't like it. I was appalled because I saw it in the theater and it was a one of a kind beautiful experience that I will never forget. I might be biased because I loved the first one so much.
Most people don't understand it.
Ryan Gosling did a wonderful job in this movie....
AMEN, start to finish masterpiece
I personally believe that K’s (or Joe’s) decision of saving Rick was neither following the replicants or the humans. The whole movie tries to say that being human, being able to choose, think, be born and live are what make you real. I believe that instead of killing rick (like the underground movement wanted him to do) and instead of returning him to Wallace (like what the humans would do) he saves him and reruns him to his daughter because that’s what he wants to do. He is told, “dying for the right cause is the most human thing you can do,” but I feel she means more dying for the replicants cause. He instead fulfills his story by dying for what he wants. He thinks for himself, chooses his own path not one laid out for him by others. By dying and reuniting Rick with his daughter, he basically tells both sides to fuck off, that he will not be used anymore and that his life is one he carves for himself.
The woman said dying for the right cause she meant dying for the underground movements cause, but Joe chose to die for what he thought was the right cause which is reuniting the child with its parent which is what he wanted for himself believing he was the chosen one and as ironically as it is with Joe discovering hes still just a replicant, it was the most human desicion. Very well put. I absolutely love this film, it saddens me how most people didnt even like it.
This also reflects his role in the beginning of the movie. As a bladerunner, he is a replicant that hunts his own kind, serving the oppressive humans. Rejected by both humans and replicant's, he exists on the border of the race conflict.
He “kills” Rick during the car attack scene above the water, when they leave Rick says something and K/Joe says you’re already dead, he made it look like an accident so Wallace would think he died from an accident in the water
he didnt die for his own cause, he died for the right cause. He did the right thing, he stopped following orders and did what was right. The two just overlap.
exactly
Denis Villenueve’s words on the film just recently, him saying he wakes up in the night dreaming about the world, about making another Blade Runner film, that’s the type of movie this is. It’s a window we all step in, a waking dream which inspires and perplexes.
6/10/21..just a day inside eternity as humanity knows it. Fascinating just how vast it all is.
I really need another blade runner film by him
He wakes up dreaming
@@broman1449 As great as Bladerunner is, Villeneuve has been on a streak of adapting great Sci-Fi. Arrival, Bladerunner, Dune and now Rendezvous with Rama. I’m excited to see what other great pieces he will adapt.
@@CyVinci: the next blade runner. The revolution. The civil war. Would be what blade runner needs to meet people’s short attention spans. It would do well. It’s a shame to drop the series at the precipice of greatness
Incredible edit brother. Blade Runner is one of the masterpieces of the 2010's.
Thank you! :)
Blade Runner (the two of them) is a masterpiece in Cinema History...
Excuse me???! What?!... I don't think there were any, let alone several, 'masterpieces' in 2010.... Masterpieces don't come around every year!
*1982, 1st Blade Runner was a 'masterpiece'.*
"Blade Runner 2049" is nice...like a salute to...or bow to, the original... A conclusion...but hardly a _'masterpiece'_
@@OldManPaxusYT blade runner 2049 is at least at the level of the original mate :="))
@@videojuegos3dlocurasextrem949 i don't think so
When they started playing Tears in Rain in the end of 2049 while he's on the steps, I nearly fucking lost it in the cinema. Such a powerful scene and they just didn't relent at all. Fuck.
Agree.
There's far too little great sci-fi like the bladerunners in cinema now.
Good edit
Thank you so much! :)
@@Zurik23M we did get MadMax, a Quiet Place, Tenet, Arrival, Brightburn, Interstellar, Ex Machina and Inception, MANDALORIAN OTT. There is some other gems, it isn't easy, on global base to sell, District 9, chappie, monsters, skyline part 2, list can go on. Just gotta look for it, 2 in a year, can be a good average, lol.
@@prirush8800 this aint sci fi
@@ravekid5282 lol it’s definitely sci-fi. More specifically it’s cyberpunk
Too few great movies…like great books…like great music…wonder why this is?
Sometimes being the protagonist means not having a happy ending.
Yes, its called a Tragedy.
Sometimes to love someone you gotta be a stranger.
Sometimes to love someone, you got to be a stranger.
You damn genius I wasn't expecting you to splice it up with the OG blade runner at the end
Thank you so much! :)
This movie is a cinematic masterpiece and so very close to my heart. And your edit just hits home. Perfect. Touching. Raw. Special movie turned into a very special edit. I love it. I love it so much.
Thank you so much!!
I'm 40 years old and never saw the first Blade Runner. I knew it was an important film that had a cult following. I was in the theater when the trailer for 2049 came out (trailer 3) and I thought it was so well done (including the music) that I was blown away and wanted to know this story. I went to watch the original shortly after and enjoyed it. Very unique. I saw 2049 in the theater the day after its debut. When it was over, it left me sitting in my seat for a while. The rest of the evening I just kept thinking about life - meaning, purpose, love, the difficult and complex nature of reality etc. The original was great but 2049 just really grabbed me. I love this film and consider it the greatest sci-fi next to Terminator 2 and Aliens. The film score was magnificent too. I ended up writing a summation after having seen it a second time:
"There was no real decoy. It was purely on paper. K/Joe is utterly, completely, unequivocally unremarkable, thus his name, Joe... as in Average Joe. Joi does not possess a soul. She is completely fake. She is the other side of the Replicant coin and is made solely to please and coddle her owner/lover. Her entire branding scheme is that she'll be anything you want. Joi is K's fleeting dream of being special -- to be human, or as he put it, "to have a soul" -- so she always reinforced this to him. Just before Luv crushed her emanator she made sure in her final moment to tell him that she loved him.
Wallace posed a question about whether Deckard was moved by love or by programming. To me there's no doubt whatsoever Deckard is fully human. The original movie is about a bad man finding his humanity through the grace of a machine. Wallace's question is not a literal "Are you human or machine?" question, but pondering what the difference is; if love is just neurochemistry, and if we are products of biological programming or something higher, like a soul. The ultimate takeaway is that it really doesn't matter. In fact the only thing that matters is what we choose to do with our lives. We find and create our own meaning and purpose.
In summary, 2049 is about dreams and delusions. K wants desperately to feel special so Joi tells him this constantly and he quickly assumes all the evidence points to him because it's his dream. He becomes deluded and forces himself into the situation even as it destroys him. He thinks this is what it means to be human - to grapple with one's humanity. Then upon meeting Freysa, K comes to learn that in fact he is not special after all. Not born but manufactured. He is torn between two sides telling him what his identity is and should be; the LAPD who informs his identity as that of a slave, and the resistance which informs his identity as that of a free Replicant.
When K comes across the giant pink Joi on the bridge, she says to him "You look like a good Joe". He then realizes that not even the name his Joi gave him was special. Her feelings for him were never real... just programming. K, at this point an emotionally heartbroken broken Replicant. It is in this moment that he chooses to follow his own path and not let anyone tell him who he is or what he should do. He makes the most human decision of all and takes his life into his own hands. He saves Deckard for the same reason Roy did in the first Blade Runner. He wanted someone to remember him, for his final decision that fully validates him as human to not be in vain. No one else gave him his identity, only he did, and his sacrifice ensured forever that he was by every metric a human being, even if the world would ultimately forget him."
This is the best thing I’ve ever read
thank you for this write up, beautifully put
Amazing.
deckard's life was saved twice by two dying replicants, same thing happened on the end of both movies.
In my opinion, the most perfect movie I have seen in the past 10 years or so. It is so deep on so may levels, the acting is amazing, and gosh the cinematography and music! Your editing truly did it justice, this is a masterpiece :)
Thank you so much! :)
@@Zurik23M No problem, always awesome to see another one of your amazing videos! :)
Arrival comes close
in this modern era it's just too hard to show humanity anymore
I have a theory. I believe this movie is a strong representation of people believing that they are alone and not special. It’s what the main character grows to learn throughout the film. That even though he thought he was and the clues appear to say so, it turned out he wasn’t and he lost it all in the pursuit of that belief. Yet, he was the one that figured it out. He was the one that was used as an alternative and who had the memories placed inside of. Even though what he thought was his purpose wasn’t true, he still played a very important role but taking what he learned and then making his own decisions. And in that was he was the only one who could have accomplished that ending. So maybe one day we’ll feel like we are alone, like we lost it all, and like we are not special. But you are, sometimes you have to take what cards you were dealt and still play your best hand. You never know what important that can play out to be in the long run
You are right
I loved this movie so freaking much and I was so distraught on everyone not getting what the movie was talking about
You nailed it so precisely and I can't thank you enough for that
Thank you so much! :)
Your not sad when your nothing. But when you have the hope that you are something and then you feel that your nothing that hurts the most.
I remember waking into an empty cinema just expecting a remake of the original but instead I was blown away and when they played Tears in Rain during Joe's final scene, I lost it! This is one of the greatest sequels ever made alongside Godfather part 2, Empire Strikes Back, Dark Knight and LOTR Return of the King!
seeing this nearly by myself on a rainy day was the most aesthetic experience of my life
What a masterpiece! The best Blade Runner 2049 tribute I've seen!
Thank you so much! :)
@@Zurik23M indeed , congrats brother , its perfect.
This was absolutely fucking incredible. Your ability to weave these pieces together in a succinctly fluid way is breathtaking. Thanks for this.
Thank you so much! :)
This was my favorite movie of that year! It deserved so much more love than it got and I’m moved to tears each time I see it. I especially love the contrast between K and Luv because they’re both so much more than they appear to be on the surface. Thank you Zurik! I’ll never stop watching and liking.
Thank you so much! :)
One of my favourite movie of all time. Beloved film. Both of them.
I am so happy that you found time for make a masterpiece about this masterpiece.
Oh! And Max Richter... you just couldn't choose a better composer than him.
Thank you so much! :)
I love that you included Rutger Hauer and his speech at the end 4:06 . Not many are aware, but he actually passed away not that long ago (July 2019). He was an amazing Dutch actor! And lived very close to me and I didn't even know :(. The guy actually used to visit the same GP as me, which is how I got to know of his death. Would have loved to shake hands with this man.
The contrast between Ana feeling fake snow and K feeling real snow is such a beautiful detail. In the end K's life was just as real.
You should make trailer for films, series and animes
Thank you! :)
This movie will get the place it deserves over the years, there is something universal and deeply human about it.
I’m convinced we like exactly the same things
Just watched it a few nights ago. One of my new favorite movies I wish I could watch it for the first time again
this might just be one of my favorite video on youtube

This might be the greatest edit that I’ve ever seen , shit is life changing
I loved every second of it. Time to rewatch this masterpiece
Can't count how many times I have watched it already.
Still touching all these various kind of deep emotions and psychological meanings. What an amazing work of art!
Bro you absolutely walked on this I can tell it took a lot of time thank you, and keep it up.
i think this movie is about the ways we seek happiness in other people or things. the reason officer k is never happy is that he wants something else to give happiness to him instead of finding it for himself, in himself.
One of my favorite movie edited by one of my favorite editor, what more could i ask, simply beautiful!
Thank you so much, brother! :)
This is something that tells are story, something that conveys an emotion, not just a simple compilation of clips from a movie. Masterful edit.
Man I can't have any words to express my feelings
You did a beautiful job making this
You just made me realise how deep this movie is
Wow just breathtaking I was in a state of shock for like 5 min after watching the video I’m a MASSIVE fan of both films and I’ve seen many edits about them but this this one is different special and unique it showed the true struggle of humanity and what the essence of being human is which in a sense was what both films were about this edit brought me to tears and I loved it thank you for this KEEP GOING!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for such a kind words, my friend! :)
What an amazingly gorgeous cut! I love both films and have never seen them interlinked so beautifully. Bravo!
timeless. a masterpiece of an edit. and a truly remarkable movie
Nearly every frame in this movie could be a wallpaper. Roger Deakins the 🐐
Long time follower of your work, will never have enough words in this space to express how much your work has helped me on a daily basis.
I keep coming back to this, I think it's because you captured the sublime essence of the movies, it's just lovely to watch and listen to.
It was the most beautiful Blade Runner edit I've ever seen. You captured the poetry and philosophy of the movie within a few minutes. Bravo.
Phenomenal. Zurik. The parallels between K and Roy were my favorite part of the film and your tribute. Both were more human than human
My fav part of movie was Wallace and Joi. The dream girl is really only a dream
Amazingly put together, brilliant. When I heard Roy Batty I got chills.
Omg thank you for this video, this movie is so underrated. 💕
Masterfully edited tribute. Thank you.
Not all of us can be the heroes that we deem to become. Sometimes dying for the right cause is good enough.
Thanks for this edit you literally made my day special ...
Dying for the right cause is the most human thing can any one do... This quote realise us our value of life
Tears in the rain is beautiful.
A perfect encapsulation of depression and what it does to a person and what a person does to escape and hit that new mark of serotonin shots our brain induces. An endless loop, even when you reach the end, you're back where you started.
This movie was amazing in a sense where it showed how the person leading the movie felt.
This is really well put together.
Excellent work ❤️❤️
This edit is the masterpiece that needed to be done to bring both stories together. Well done.
I think your edits are so underrated because you can give every emotion and feel in the whole movie inside in just 5 minutes. I really appreciate your work.

Thank you so much! :)
This is so beautiful ❤️
I love your all the work you put into these videos Zurik please keep em coming.
Thank you so much! :)
God this movie broke me! When joe was told he wasnt the child i legit cried because they did such a good job investing me in the story i felt his dreams shatter as if they were mine and i shed tears after that. I felt broken during the joi scene just like joe did and when he helped decker meet his child i felt comfort knowing even if he wasnt special he was human in his own way. He made his choice and it made him human.
fantastic summary / recap / making of connections.. thank you!
I've been interlinked since I first saw this. Great job everyone involved with this movie!
