I love Karen Olivio playing as Anita. She's so sassy and gorgeous. I also like the girl who plays Rosalia. Her voice is better than most of the Rosalia's I've heard. Lol
I hope you know that these are the original lyrics. The 1961 movie actually changed it and added the men in there. And by original, I'm guessing you're saying the 1957 stage version right? Cause that's the original.
@@uni2521 yeah, but that was for the stage. I still Think, that when it comes to movies, you should cast kinda around what would for the age of the character, or at least look like it. And yes, they were both amazing
The movie version is better with the back and forth with the boys. original doesn't mean it can't be improved upon and the movie definitely improved upon it.
Did she just say PueLto Rico?! Noooo!!! We Puerto Rican's might change the letter R for L sometimes, but we do not do it with our country's name and definitely not that exaggerated. The rest was good though...
+Ana Luísa Regis Segala - Chita Rivera, who originated the role of Anita on Broadway is definitely a legendary performer but Karen Olivo knocked this role out of the park in my opinion and is the only actor to *ever* win a Tony Award for a performance in West Side Story.
+praestant8 - Pretty sure everyone who is even vaguely familiar with West Side Story knows that. lol Rita Moreno was cast in the movie version because she was deemed "easier on the eyes" than Chita Rivera and looked younger as well. I don't think Chita worried too much about it tho as she had just had a baby daughter in 1958 and was busy doing Bye Bye Birdie on Broadway.
+ShayanneAvalon7 7 - Flat?? You're joking right? You must be, either that or you're tone deaf yourself. "This Anita" is Broadway star Karen Olivo who won a *Tony Award* for her performance as Anita in this 2009 revival of West Side Story. Karen is also the first & *only* actor to win a Tony for a performance in West Side Story. You're entitled to your own opinion of course but Karen performed this role to perfection and there's not one flat note in this entire video.

@@uni2521 exactly, Anita is literally supossed to be like 18

@@uni2521 yeah, exactly. I Think Ariana Debose Will be a really good Anita
@@Lemonade467 its not a black girl lol its a polish colombian girl

The movie version is better with the back and forth with the boys. original doesn't mean it can't be improved upon and the movie definitely improved upon it.

they do record? i think Broadway its live hehe
Yohanes Jisrel they record it for the albums for people to buy and for practices. They sing live on stage.
Loved her performance she earned that Tony but I like Ariana debose version
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Their voices are great! But I don't like this version
Arantza Rojas Ceron agreed I think it's funnier with the beef and banter of the boys and girls 😂 still very talented though
That was the edited version for the movie.
This was the original version. This one for the movie was edited and the 2nd version.
so phat
brb changing my pants
Karen Olivo is ridiculous. Actually.
In a good way?
@@vxlerieyu i hope so
Hmmm - where is Bernardo ?
That's only the movie version, not the original broadway.
what i dont understand about this veraion of the song, is why maria would want to go back to puerto rico. her love is here.
Erin Cejka maybe bc that's not maria...
Speilberg, do not fkup a great classic!!!
I didn't like this Anita... The original is so much better

LYacky1 I love her voice, but o think it doesen't match with anita
Chita didn't sing the role in the film

i don't like this anita she's not as sassy as rita moreno and her singing just comes off flat imo

totally agree LYacky1, that was a note perfect recording right there, don't know what the op was listening to.....?
It’s a different kind of sass than Rita Moreno, but a very valid one I think
