    At this time of year it's nice to see a place that's green! Thanks, Brent!

    Interstate 280 in California is complete! Awesome ride indeed! Now I just have to drive it personally! It leads back to one of the first videos of yours that I watched. Can't wait for more Bay Area videos and more, keep it up!

    this was a real pleasure to watch! I love the freeways of the South Bay Area, for the exact reasons you mentioned: they are quite scenic, nicely planted with trees on both sides and occassionally on the median. I've never actually driven on 280 but have sure crossed it a number of times. We usually take 101/85/17 south from SF to get over to the PCH. I'll always remember my first visit to Whole Foods in Cupertino (they've only recently started expanding into Canada) Cheers and thanks!

    The 680 is a fun drive haha. I grew up in Pleasanton and my father used to commute to SJ every day for work. Super long drive in the mornings but you get some nice scenery along the way. Particularly when all the hills are green in the spring in between Fremont and Milpitas.

    ‎1A video... i like the street. I was in Fresco and drove around in the city.
    It was so cool...

    Nice drive, not too busy. San Jose is a pretty big place, I doubt if many people from outside the area know it's (much) larger than San Francisco.

    Please get one driving on the I-280 South!
    Wolfe Road has done lots of construction lately, and I’d love to see what it looks like from your perspective. The new construction on the Southbound Side is especially cool!
    Note: Last comment on this video was 5 years ago, but that was before the nice, great construction was done.

      Perhaps one day. Have you checked out my newest releases from Auckland, New Zealand? Check out the Auckland Harbour Bridge video from me. I think you'll like the changes. Cheers!

    Very nice video! If you could record the stretch of 101 between the GGB and Terra Linda, that'd be lovely. If you have some time when, US 17 from I-280 to Santa Cruz is a nice drive too. Many curves, high downhill grades.

  • @FreewayBrent
    @FreewayBrent  Před 13 lety

    @aswchris: You're right, most people just assume that San Francisco is the more populated city. Of course, San Jose is *much* larger in physical size, so it's better to think of it as a bunch of suburbs, strung together.
    As for the traffic, you don't wanna try driving I-280 during rush hour. At 4:30 p.m., this same trek can take up to 75 minutes from start to end. Peak hour traffic tops over 18,000 vehicles thru the downtown area, on par with most of the freeways in L.A., yikes!

  • @FreewayBrent
    @FreewayBrent  Před 13 lety

    @CosmoPhotography: I should probably show off I-680 sometime; the ride over the Sunol Grade features virtually *no* development at all (due to land use restrictions), and yet, it is one of the Bay Area's worst commutes (particularly the northbound ride), with commuters going between Silicon Valley and Pleasanton.
    I filmed this in March. CalTrans had recently done some rehabilitation along the concrete pavement through San Jose, which is why this video turned out pretty well.

    I like how the country's two top technology regions (Silicon Valley and RTP) have interstates running through mostly desolate, rural feeling areas. Btw, is it just me, or are your newer videos looking less shaky and sharper? Super job!

    @eluko79: Hey now, the Midwest has its scenic parts, too. :-)
    Have you ever been to Voyagers National Park? I've always wanted to go; it looks stunning there, although I'd want to rent a boat for a few days to really get a true feel for the place.

    @IsoscelesKramer: I actually filmed this in March, but yes, after the 10+ inches of rain that the Bay Area will have received in the 7 day period, leading up to Christmas, I'm sure the hills will be nice and green like what you saw in this video, in no time at all. :)

    @Overeezee1: Interesting, I always enjoy it when my subscribers offer a bit of a history lesson. I used to hike within the boundaries of Stevens Creek Park during the early to mid-90's with a neighbor of mine. It's a good thing that much of the land along the Santa Cruz Mountains has been designated as open space preserves; it certainly makes the Peninsula (and the South Bay communities that lie along the Santa Cruz Mtns) one of the best urban areas to live in, anywhere in the country.

  • @FreewayBrent
    @FreewayBrent  Před 13 lety

    @Freewayjim: Interesting how it transitions from urbanity to a seemingly rural landscape in about half a mile, huh?

    All of the exit gore signs are unnumbered except for Exit 384 and Exit 16. More gore signs are starting to have exit numbers and replaced signs

  • @FreewayBrent
    @FreewayBrent  Před 13 lety

    @LucidRealityChild: Yeah I'll agree, San Jose is (mostly) a clean and safe city, although one shouldn't venture into the south side of town, where there is definitely a crime element. Still, most of the city is definitely a safe, suburban haven. Did you get a chance to visit the attractive and walkable downtown centers of Los Gatos, Mountain View, Saratoga or Los Altos, by any chance?

    @edgexxi: Yeah, 101 between I-880 and say, CA 85 in Mountain View is amongst my least favorite stretches of freeway in the Bay Area. Relatively uninspiring architecture, and really nothing all that interesting to see. However, I do actually enjoy the stretch between Redwood City and San Francisco a lot.

    @FreewayBrent Yes, I can't recall many places like that. I second the GeorgiaRoadGeek's suggestion of "Do you know the way to San Jose" for a soundtrack, maybe you can find a more modern version, the original is definitely not your style :)

    When I saw the signs for 87 North and South yesterday, I looked out the window and saw the roof of the Shark Tank. I'm not loving the new name.
