  • Everyone said it was impossible to put a pusher axle on a gooseneck trailer. As you can see it is not only possible but it works great.

    How does that work out at the scales does that axle carry a lot of the weight off of the rear of truck

      Yes it does. I don’t do commercial anymore I only haul my personal stuff so I don’t have to worry about scales.

    Whats the benefit to the steerable axle. Is it strictly weight and load balancing?

    • @stacyp4534
      @stacyp4534  Před 2 lety +5

      It’s closer to the front of the trailer to help take some load off the frame because the trailer is so long. Plus it adds another 8000 pounds of useful load. The reason it’s steerable is so that during turns when loaded the frame doesn’t get a huge side load to bend or break the frame.

      @@stacyp4534 yeah I've read that the ats tcm is better but I've had bad luck with their products. Twin fueler controller and wiring harness drove me crazy for over a year until I just bought a different brand and solved all my problems. If I can get the deal done on the truck I will give you a holler

    What are the measurements of the fixted deck and the hydrauilc tail? I am looking for an steerable lift axle to do the same thing. Looks Good.

      The deck on my trailer is 40 feet. That’s the actual deck not the gooseneck. I think the dovetail is 12 foot

      @@stacyp4534 Hi! Can I email you also? You have me interested in adding air ride suspension and this third axle. After you added the axle, did it change the gvwr and whatdid you have to do to get that recognized?

      @stacyp4534  Před 2 lety +1

      @@davidedwards1479 you can email me anytime. Send me your contact. All states recognize this axle except Texas and another state. I think it’s Ohio. My recall isn’t as good as it used to be so I cannot recall the other state. Texas I remember because it blew me away that Texas is like that. Here in Arizona you get permanent tags for trailers and you just register them for 10,000 GVW or more so they recognize all axles. I don’t haul commercial so even in Texas they don’t say anything to me. Everything you see on my trailer is my stuff. I collect tractors and military stuff. Also everybody has always said don’t go to California. I have been hauling out of California for 30 years and have never had a bad experience with a cop there. The only 3 states I have ever had issues in is Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

    Did your turning get cut because of thr steerable?

    • @stacyp4534
      @stacyp4534  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes and no, if I turn super sharp like almost jackknife the trailer it will drag sideways but I can lift it up if necessary. I also have to lift it when backing up. I don’t have it hooked to the reverse lights so I gotta run out and manually lift it. So far though I haven’t had any issues. I slid it sideways one time on dirt. I had to really jackknife the trailer sharp to turn around in a friends yard. It kind of dug up a little dirt but that’s about it. So far I love it.
