It took me a while to decide whether I wanted to tackle this piece as I like to put my own stamp on the harmony, however I was trying to be careful not to overdo it, so as to not lose the beautiful vibe that the song has.

This is in a higher key, and he's using a DAW to add bass in parts like at 3:12. Nothing wrong with that though.

@@rtravisboyd5013 There are many ways, but in terms of getting the best sound quality, my recommendation for notes that are too high or too low for you is to record the note you want sped up or slowed down. In Logic, for instance, there is a plug-in you can use called varispeed that lets you slow or speed by semitone. This usually has a more natural sound quality than using pitch-shifting devices.

Ok, I know I'm a little late to the party, but OH MY GOD!!!!! This might be my favourite arrangement of all time. This is literally the first time EVER that someone's done a cover of a PTX song that I like better than the original - and that's coming from a huge fan on PTX! Seriously, I can not get over your vocal range. Please never stop making these vids, they're stunning.

Outdoing Pentatonix isn't easy. You've done that here. I love your key choice. It makes the lyric hit harder. The end is just insane. There is one small technical note. The end of the bridge seems to oversaturate a bit. This likely occurred at the mix stage so if you were of a mind to fix it, you could. It doesn't really hurt anything though. In fact, it adds some tension. Maybe you noticed and decided to leave it alone for that reason? Anyway, thanks for doing this. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Nostaljack It's a weird one, maybe you are right about the tension because for some reason I didn't have the immediate urge to fix it and thus became part of it in a weird way. I'm really glad you like the changes to the arrangement, that was the part I was most apprehensive about.
Sam Robson It sounds like a compressor thing right at 2:58. Like the bass was so loud that it just cuts out the treble. Love the arrangement though!
keats27 I'm actually not bothered by Sam's choice there at all. It exposes the angelic quality of his lead tone. Further back in the mix and you wouldn't hear it as clearly.
Sam Robson The subtle changes that occur throughout and the bigger ones at the end really work well. No need for apprehension there. Great choices one and all.
That note at 3:14 made me cringe slightly. But I still think it's wonderful.
3:10-3:16 using headphones on full volume just blew my mind
....so mesmerizing. I have to be honest I'm a huge PTX fan, but this deserves love as it's own entity. Way too beautifully original to you Mr. Robson. Off to watch more of your vids ;)

My chamber group at my high school did this song and it was the most enjoyable experience I've had in my acapella career.
I have watched a lot of covers of this song and let me tell you this is the only one that I think comes super close to being just as good as PTX's version. There were goosebumps and tears and that is NOT an easy thing to get from me. You are so incredibly talented and I will definitely be checking out more of your stuff.

I really loved this song when I first heard the original version. And as a fan of covers, I started searching for one really great cover. I couldn't find said cover and I concluded that there was no way of doing an acceptable cover of this song.

I'm normally against covers of song I already love but you have changed it enough that it is unique but not so much that you've changed the richness of the original.
