  • In this video I show how I clean ACL soda bottles using Bar Keeper's Friend. It works especially well on the white part of ACLs that are stained.

    Thank you so much for making this video! I was stumped on cleaning the white lettering after I had a 7Up bottle label dissolving just from soaking in water and this method is so much quicker than overnight soaking.

    This worked really well. I haven’t used bb’s, but I did use barkeepers friend on three different Coke bottles, and it worked perfect. Even on one of the newer ones from 1992 cleaned up really well and looks brand new. It didn’t remove any of the printing either.

    Awesome! I reuse my Coke bottles as my glassware and pop them in the freezer. This is awesome!

    I wish we could go back to glass for all bottles.

      Everything tasted better when we used glass instead of plastic.

    Thanks for this tutorial! I’m planning to clean old soda bottles (mainly Coca Cola and Dr Pepper) and poor the drink into the glass and give it a cap to have it rebottled.

    I use an aquarium air pump to dry out the inside of a bottle in order to prevent condensation spots. After a water rinse I fill the bottle with rubbing alcohol to dilute any remaining water and minerals, bottles dry in less than 30 minutes with sparkling interiors and the alcohol can be reused indefinitely.

    I use the fish tank rocks tho the copper bbs is definitely a great idea

      Good idea. Anything that is abrasive enough to remove the grime without damaging the bottle is what you want. In a pinch I've even used sand. It worked ok, but I think the heavier, larger particles are better.

      @@rustyrehab7800 yea is the only way to get rid of sick glass tumblin the bottles or is there an easier way

    • @rustyrehab7800

      @@Antiquebottles- As far as I know, tumbling is the only method for sick glass. When I get sick glass, I clean the dirt off and that's as far as I go. The reaction that has occurred is not removable without removing some of the glass and that's what tumbling is doing.

    Doesn't the abrasive cleaner scratch the glass?

      @@woolpiehd2003 Yeah, because I'm curious if the cleaner could remove the calcium cloudiness from some lead crystal pieces I have.

    Tyvk; it works well on my pots and pans; It didn’t even occur to me that I could use on glass would’ve taken a chance on scratching it! I will give it a shot.
    I have seen different sources on the Internet that recommend The use of some sand in the dish detergent inside the bottle to clean it. Does that actually damage the bottle?

    • @rustyrehab7800
      @rustyrehab7800  Před 2 lety +3

      Sorry for the slow response. This method has worked well for me on ACLs. I would probably not use sand for cleaning bottles with acls. Sand is an abrasive where the bar keeper's friend is very mild and becomes quite gentle when made into a paste.
