    I think you are definitely on the right track for creating something truly original with the springtail. I would definitely recommend looking into alternative materials, where it is installed in the body, etc.. Great video as usual.

      Yeah, even springs have a plethora of types and tensions. Also weird things like torsion springs, etc.
      Not to mention tail dimensions and planar differentiations.

      There have been a couple soft baits that incorporate springs recently. There’s at least one company that makes a soft stick worm with a spring in the middle to increase the durability for wacky rigging.

  • @TreebeardTTV
    @TreebeardTTV Před rokem +27

    I think you should try installing the spring into the body and having the end piece separate. Both pieces connected by the spring. Then do a thin coat of plastic just to seal it all together. Granted it won't last long, it could be an alternate way to get a crazy action.

    I know we've seen bass hit sticks, and blocks of wood, but what if you carved a hard bait to resemble a beast hook. It could swim like a crankbait, and the lip would be coming out of the bottom of the J bend. The actual hook could be attached to the eye of the "hook" even maybe a wakebait? Either way it would be one heck of a Hookception (I just dated myself with that reference, didn't I?) Ahh well. Love the videos! Can't wait to see the next bait!

    Encasing a spring in grease is how they make those rotary dampers for those cool old calculators where you press a button and it opens and sits up all cool-like. I assume the plastisol would have even more of a stiffening effect on the spring. Try using a much lighter spring or a piece of piano wire to see if you can get that tail to move like you want it to.

    @Marling Baits As a Swedish Pike fisherman id say you were on to something with the first one, we have springs inside soft baits already but its only a small bit that pokes out of the body where you then attach a tail to cuz they make alot of diff tails to mod your baits with and also we have em on hardbaits too like a swimbait or jerkbait very efficient for hunting pikes atleast 😆 The soft one u made with the thin tail would have been way better if you made the tail thicker, always love ur content and I always go like damn that bass bait would have slayed the Pike here 😂 Keep up the grind mate ❤

    Putting all of that material around the spring just locks the coils of the spring in place and stiffens it. You've basically put cushions between the coils. A spring needs the coils free allow compression between them. I agree with the others that a two-piece bait would work better with a spring. Interesting idea though - I think you can refine it. Spring wire (uncoiled) may be a better choice for both strength and movement.
