How do you think Si did?
Fantastic video. Thank you. I would love to see a video on how your presenters setup their bikes to ensure the constant flow of new bikes are going to work for them. I (and many riders I know) obsess over saddle position, reach...moving things a few mm at a time until things are dialed in. Your presenters are riding new bikes all the time and doing big rides on them where there's no room for error in setup or injuries could result. Thanks for your consideration.
amazing day of cycling what a legend
I don't even watch any biking content but am into ultra hiking, so these kind of videos are very enyojable to watch, would love some more content like this.
hé did great! i will try my first century next summer!
Fantastic! He’s my hero.
These kind of videos are the ones I like the most, Its incredible you can ride the bike for so much in 1 go.
Agreed- quite inspiring!
If you like this kind of content then you have to check out the "impossible routes" of the vegan cyclist. Amazing stuff. And don't worry, he does not promote veganism on his channel - he just lives that way. Cool guy.
You have to see Vegan Cyclist’s latest impossible route video! As is the habit in the US, the route absolutely gnarly and over the top. If you love this video, you’ll love the 35 hour non-stop that gravel odyssey.
@@Heidelbeere04 omg mate i love you the vegan cyclist is insane his last eat one is unbelievable
I usually go for Fastest Un-Known Time, where the only stipulation is you can't tell anyone about it.
You've ruined it now.
@@MisterAndyS Doh!!!
Indeed, I always try and get FUKT
Absolute legend. Si is the best 😁 congrats dude. Also kudos to the cameraman for cheering him on near the end.
Si challenging Hank for title of Resident Maniac. Nearly 17 hours of riding and cows! Well done.
Simon's composure post-ride is always something to behold. He may no longer be a professional, but his attitude is something all pro's should strive to achieve. You're a great rider, Simon.
Absolutely fantastic effort by Si, and a great job by everyone else who put together this video with some beautiful shots throughout.
Weren’t some of the B-roll shots beautiful? Thinking especially of the bumblebees on the flowers. Such good quality videos.
There's always one in the comments, bumming the camera crew. I bet they don't ride their bikes much.
We need a Behind The Scenes video. How/who is following you guys on these great rides. The edits are slick, the wide, filler and drone shots are great. Big up to GCN-BTS!
Thanks! We really appreciate this praise, we're all really proud of this vid!
Hear, hear! This was a beautifully shot video. Loved the drone shots all the way through.
yes, great stuff. Inspirational.... loved it
Yeah the logistics of this must be non-trivial. Really well done.
@@gcn but really we need a behind the scenes video.
Si, you are wonderful. You should try advertising the finish line and approximate time of some such challenge - I guarantee you'd have some, perhaps many, of your fans and supporters there to clap for you and give you a standing ovation at the end.
how does GCN churn out so much great content with such regularity. and it's all free. folks we are blessed
Indeed we are.
hmmm...not quite free...I find this channel so inspiring it has become hard to NOT spend money weekly on my gravel bike!
@@chawley52 money spent on a bike is always money well spent.
GCN does a good job with product placement. Not loud enough to turn you off, but in focus enough to please the sponsors. I imagine the revenue from your eyeballs as the product (i.e. the money CZcams pays to GCN for attracting viewers) is a small fraction of the product-placement revenue. I'm guessing that if you "like" the video, GCN gets even more money from CZcams. So if you like the "free" content, be sure to "like" it!
"If you are not paying for the product, you are the product"
Nothing makes you look your age like riding off road for 220 miles! Just full of admiration and inspiration when you see the joy Si gets from riding his bike.
I’ve recently arrived in the bike world from the long distance running world. It’s brilliant seeing the similarity between the two in these longer adventures and the ‘I just need to get this done’ attitude when everything is being pushed. It’s what it is all about. Am massively enjoying the GCN content, it’s absolutely superb. Si is a real credit to the cycling world. Chapeau fella!
Knewal, I agree, with Si's presentation making me want to jump on a plane and do the ride in a day.
I used to think the same about distance, 20k seemed a long way. But after bouts of injury and ill health I decided the couch wasn't the place to be. Building up over a couple of years, this Southern summer just gone, I completed East West traverses over two major passes in New Zealand's Southern Alps. 290Km in 15hours and 215km in 11hours respectively. Watching Si I could relate to his comments but also given I'm 61 year's old and a quarter of a century older, I also felt a bit smug that I could have paced him. Certainly I didn't complain as much, but then I had nobody to complain to, no camera, no support crew. He caught the highs and lows, and the need to feed beautifully. Kudos!
34:25 "Totally meaningless but incredibly amazing personal achievement." I think that neatly sums up what we do on our bikes. Some hair-brained scheme that looks good on paper, raises serious doubts in one's mind, tests the limits of what you think you can do, but....we do it anyway. Well played.
Weird timing on this vid.
I did the KAW over 3 days, with bike bags/sleeping out and loved it. Was just talking to someone, only yesterday, about the 1 hit attempt. Amazing route
How did you find it?
@@gcn possibly one of the finest routes I have done. Great mix of surfaces. Lots of historical landmarks. Plenty of places to eat and drink. And the odd farmer's field to bivvy in...
Indiana Richardson in Raiders of the Lost Ark - “Cows, why did it have to be cows?”
at this point i watch everything with Si. He is just such a cool and relaxed guy.
This put a smile on my face. When the going gets grim, keep pedalling. What a great effort and video; well done, team!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
Well done, Simon! As an American I can say you nailed the description of Kansas, flat, boring and windy. That's why we live in California! Again, great video.
I LIKE this series of long distance riding videos. It inspires people to go further. Love it !!!
Amazing effort Si, and great video! But I couldn't help thinking "Now imagine 5h sleep and doing it all over again. Keep that up for over 11 weeks. Then add international logistics." Mark Beaumont's record is simply incredible!
22:32 Don’t worry Si! We’ve all made that wrong turn in Reading onto the River! Glorious to see Pierreponts get another feature at your Streatley and Goring stop off! Such a good cafe with lovely people!
Sheltered in this cafe once after being pelted with hailstones. Lovely spot!
I can just picture Simon weaving on that road. Not to avoid the pheasants and rabbits, but to make sure to wee on them as he rides along.
Mega effort there! Congrats on the FKT and HUGE day in the saddle 🙌
Great job Si, The longest I’ve ridden was 200km road or 100km gravel route. Couldn’t image doing double or 4x that. You’re a champion
What a ride! and thanks to all the GCN team to share this kind of experience! 🙌Really motivating! And, dont be scared by the cows, they look at you because your on their field, your are scaring them 😅
I can never fathom these extreme long distances. That's some crazy effort
GCN is at its best when it shows the many ways in which cycling is just the most incredible and diverse sport there is. Fantastic effort and film. Thank you.
Thanks Kenny, glad you enjoyed it
Congrats Si on that epic ride. When you finished I felt your emotion in that awesome achievement. GCN rocks another great video. Well done.👏👏👏❤
This piece is amazing! Both the story-wise and the production-wise. Congrats to Si! Really love how he was able to overcome himself and finish the ride!
That's some achievement! Can certainly feel your pain at the end though in that last piece to camera!!
It was some effort!
I've watched this at least 3 times. I love everything about it. Great job to everyone involved in this amazing production. Great job Si is such a beast.
Should watch the version on GCN+, it's 15 minutes longer. That's the one I did. No ads to interrupt things either.
What an amazing effort to ride over 350km in a single day Simon. It would have taken enormous willpower to overcome physical and mental pain to complete the ride. Well done!
Bravo Si. And for finding the energy to finish the vid in full presenter mode for the Tech channel! What a fantastic feat! You should be super proud!
These really are beautifully shot aren’t they? Never has suffering looked so lovely along the way.
“It’s really weird you can see up his tunic” followed by Si walking up for a closer look 😳
Well done Simon on such an epic ride. Another amazing video from yourself and the GCN crew.
'Whoop Whoop' at the start, nothing left in the tank to 'Whoop Whoop' at the end.....and that was me just watching it. Amazing, tense viewing and what an achievement!
Now Hank on the Eurobike!
The quality of the filming is fantastic. Getting better every day. I cant help but clicking on the video and I watch every minute of it. Simon is the G.O.A.T.
Thanks Si and GCN for being incredibly inspiring. Congrats on completing the Challenge!
Si amazed me with his perseverance. It helps to have a cool bike to ride. But the rest of it is on you - how you pace yourself and how you keep yourself fueled. Bravo.
What a great achievement. I deliberately avoided reading the comments as I wanted to watch this in full on the TV to see how you got on Is, to appreciate the full magnitude. What a great production let alone effort. Well done to all. Another to add to my bucket list. This is my first year of proper cycling - venturing put to new pastures. The distance fills me with dread though, as well as eager anticipation to do it !!
Glad you enjoyed it! Check out this video for some helpful tips 👉 czcams.com/video/Yxyn4xrU5kw/video.html
Amazing, Si! Congrats!! Congrats to the crew for the support and great shots! Always enjoy the long GCN videos!
Congrats Si!! Enjoyed watching your epic journey and sharing it with us all!! Well done.
Love this kind of videos. These are the kind that drawn me to GCN in the first place. Amazing effort SI. Kudos to the team, what a beautiful video.👍
Amazing!!! Videos don't get better than this. A big thank you Si.
Man, Si. You are such an inspiration to ride out and just do it.
Kudos to the GCN team for shooting and editing this!
the moment of despair when you realise that you did the loop in the wrong direction 🤣🤣
that was a bloody good effort simon. how many days was it until you could just sit down normally again 🤣🤣
A legendary effort by Si! Thanks for showing us the full gamut of experiences and emotions you had on this enterprise.
The route that broke me!
Did the KAW this time last year in two days, what an epic, but injured both knees as a result.
Have had a frustrating year off the bike. Watching Si ride it is inspiring me to keep up the recovery and hopefully get back to it soon.
Thanks GCN!
please do tell, what happened to your knees?
Absolutely great video!!! Fabulous fun! Thank you!
Well done Si 👏🏾 Such an incredible and inspirational ride. I almost choked up at the end as I’m familiar with the mental fortitude required for such an effort, respect ✊🏾
Epic effort, well done Si!
And what a great video to enjoy on a Sunday night, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Outstanding Si!!! What a great challenge for yourself and very inspirational to us mortals!!! Great job capturing the route and landscape and the struggles along the way!!! 💪💪💪👍👍👍
Si, you rock! Always great content and amazing accomplishment! And beautiful movie - very well done by the team! It's amazing that you were able to get all these nice shots
Thank you!
Amazing work Si! So inspiring to see you face down your fears like that. The bike ride was pretty good too.
Loved this video, the journey! Thank you for sharing! Good job, Simon! ❤️
Thank you Simon for taking us on this journey with you. And don't worry, you did not cheer at the end alone, my heart cheered with you. I am 63 and bought a Trek last year, in hopes to start riding a bike again. Your individual effort makes me see that there are other ways to appreciate a ride alone. Good job Simon!!! I enjoyed every minute of this video.
What a great achievement Si! Well done, your clearly had to dig deep for that one, very impressive!
Great video, inspired me to get out on my gravel bike a bit more.
epic ride and great video editing as well. It had a real story with a proper compelling beginning middle and end as well as Simon being one to the best presenters of gcn.
Good Job Si!!! Have enjoyed many of your folks vids!! Very inspirational!
Dude, outstanding!! Giving me serious motivational energy to smash my own goals and progress!!
Great job Si! Love to see you do these challenges 🤩 So inspiring! You are my hero! 😉
No personal achievement is meaningless. An inspirational video Simon. Thanks 👍🏼
More of this PLEASE!!!
Amazing ride and effort ,and well done GCN on an excellent video
Congrats on the epic ride! It’s impressive how GCN presenters are able to reflect on their state of mind while feeling beyond exhausted. I’d be so grumpy. 🤣
Great video & amazing effort Si!
Awesome video, thanks for sharing and great work Si!
Wow! What an achievement! Incredible effort. And I love the filming, amazing. More like this please!
Thank you! Will do!
Great to watch, superb scenery, camera work and fantastic effort by Mr R to complete the ride.
This is actually insane! Such an amazing dedication Si! 💪🏼
@gcn absolutely loved this video 👌 I did the KAW starting and ending in Winchester in just over 25 hours so I take my hat off to you for producing that time
Congratulations, Si. That was one hell of an epic ride. 👍👍👍🍻🍻🍻👏👏👏
Well done Si and the rest of the team to do this wonderful video.
Amazing effort ... great video, very inspiring, keep them coming.
Congratulations Si! Fantastic video, thanks for editing out the singing bits this time! 😆
Very inspiring Si, can't imagine doing that in a day, love these videos
Great video and a great effort Si. Also, hats off to the videographer. Very nice work!
Awesome effort Si = as ever!! Great vid. Thanks 🙂
Congrats Si!! Amazing video and ride!
Great effort Si! Loved being able to view the ride!
Excellent effort! Great video.
Great video! Impressive biking, impressive presentation! Well done GCN!
I really like the shot of the bee at 23:45. Off-road riding brings you closer to nature and nature can be wonderful. Kudos on the solid editing of this video. Adding shots like that just brings it all together.
bucolic...what a word! Learn something new everyday Si. What an awesome vid.
Amazing! Fair play Si. Could watch this kind of thing all day
What a monster epic ride. It’s these kinds of videos that make me want to ride long, all day in the saddle rides. Way to go, Si! Chapeau!
Great video Simon, just good all round, route, bike, endurance and informative 😎👍
One of the best videos on the channel.
Yet another fabulous Si torture test film. Loved it from start to finish. Top effort, you've left me inspired.
Thanks Rebecca, Incredible effort from Si!
Fantastic video. Well done Si.
Tons of respect to Si, and for me as well, this is the content I enjoy the most, both here and on GCN+
Well done Simon, great achievement and great video for the rest of us😉
Epic effort Si, bloody well done! 👏🏻👏🏻
Huge kudos si fantastic effort
Just because of you I've started cyclecross and gravel riding. I have gravel, cyclecross and endurance bikes. You are the man.
usually a big fan, but have to voice my opinion on this, not sure encouraging folks to head down and go for it are what these routes are all about, keeping them free for access to all users if a bigger challenge than riding it fast, we would all be having a pop if a couple of horse riders came down the track flat out ! surely the appeal of gravel and tracks is not to blast it but apart from that keep up the good content.
I love these kind of videos and this one is brilliant. Well done to everyone involved. A film about what goes into making this kind of content would be interesting as I bet the logistics etc. are rather dam tricky.
