In fact it's amazing that they still manage to bounce back and still releasing songs until today despite getting ZERO support.

Janina Rose I'm well aware of what X-Factor consists of and indeed X-Factor has talent, but what I'm trying to imply is that as long as your young and have just a tad bit of vocal control (even if you aren't good because only god knows how they got through in their first auditions) and have looks that young teens wont care about how bad you are as long as they can fathom over you. OneD has some great songs i will admit, but its just shear luck that they were able to make it big.

1D proved that coming 3rd in a competition can be just as amazing as coming 1st. Like, look at Tom Daley for instance. He won bronze in the diving at the 2012 Olympics. The look on his face was absolutely priceless :)

May sound hard but losing xFactor was the best thing that could happen to them. Look at where they played last weekend. Wembley wouldn't even be in their minds if they won the xFactor. That's why I don't understand some of you guys that are angry about that, cause it's you that brought them to Wembley and all the other stadiums this year. xFactor probably wouldn't even get them that far.

Aah, Matt was so expecting to go home, but he'd won week on week! So cute 😍 And Simon was always going to look after One Direction first, so it worked for them. And Rebecca is a mega talent too. It was definitely the best year for X Factor by far.

Yea, you don't have to win to become big. Look at 1D who got 3rd and Cher Lloyd who got 4th, they're not even 10 times more popular than Rebecca or Matt. Same thing happened in '09 (last year) where Joe McElderry won and Olly Murs and Stacey got 2nd and 3rd, yet they're way more popular.
How weird is it that they probably thought their careers were over when they had only just begun.

At least they're all still around and making music. Harry and Niall are particularly successful with Niall's album that came out a month ago number 1 in the UK and really high positions in other countries' charts
1D proved that coming 3rd in a competition can be just as amazing as coming 1st. Like, look at Tom Daley for instance. He won bronze in the diving at the 2012 Olympics. The look on his face was absolutely priceless :)
