It is so interesting how the X-factor really tried to put Liam out there as the Frontman. And then the actual general public got to seen them all and they picked Harry as the favorite/frontman of the group because he always stood out as the one with the charisma and showmanship. Now here we are all these years later and he is the one with the huge career and the rest have varying degrees of success but not are even close to his comercial success
Zayn would’ve if him or his company promoted his songs as much.

Liam was the one that had the most experience at that point, the rest of them had almost no singing coaching and so were very raw. Harry naturally is the most successful given his all round ability, though for a period of about 2011-2013 I'd say Zayn's star shone the brightest, he was the one belting all the big notes in their songs. But then he burnt out / became miserable and has struggled with public fame ever since.
I'll caveat that by saying that both Niall and Zayn's debut albums reached no.1 on the USA album chart, which is a big achievement in itself and both albums were very good.
@@dianvarughese3556 I feel as though Zayn stunted his growth as an artist when he left the band simple because he was the first to leave and thus broke up the band. Harry supposedly wanted to leave first but waited because he knew that was going to happen. I think Zayn could have had the success that harry has now if he wasn't the first to leave.
I hope Zayne rises again- all of them. I think each of them has such talent. I’m an older woman and yet I can see the talent and incredible energy they all have. I’m happy for Harry’s success. I want the others to do just as well.

This is how most boy bands are. There are one or two that have stronger voices and the others are "background voices." Though some let others sing a lone more. *shrug* They use the strong points of the group. It makes sense.

Liam and Harry were clearly the standouts early on, with Liam having the best trained voice and Harry being the best performer. Zayn clearly had a good voice but always seemed so shy and awkward. Louis is just so adorable and happy to be there. I was honestly shocked by how bad Niall was on early on - he stood out in a bad way, but steadily improved as time went on.

Well, relatively at the beginning he tried but it really wasn’t great. I still think they could have just skipped him. Liam had just the most competent and full rounded voice, although Harry-despite some accuracy issues- had already a great vibrato and great tone, also he was able to take over the rockier shorty parts. Zayn lacked a bit of stamina in his voice but was able to do the quieter parts phenomenally and some great runs, Niall didn’t have any vibrato or special sound to his voice but fit hit all the notes. The 4 of them really deserved their spot in my opinion!

Well it’s because he’s significantly worse at singing than anyone else. He never fit the group
Gcool243 he brought a different sound to the group, everyone kinda sounded the same but his voice was very different and hats why he only got the solos that fit with his voice. but he’s very good and his new songs match his voice very well

I watch this, watch their faces as they sing, and feel a deep sense of destiny. This was a divinely planned union of voices. Harry and Niall had very focused plans and they were both willing to do whatever it took to fulfill their plans. It's amazing to watch it happen.

I honestly don't get why everyone hates Louis and his voice so much.... he has really high voice which is what makes him different from the others but he is actually extremely talented and actually wrote some of the band most successful songs, also his personality and the fact that he never cared if he was the main or the one that got the most solos and always stood by the others and supported them is just admirable

They all have amazing voices but Zayn and Harry had more pleasant tones. I also think the type of music that Louis makes now is very pop and the reason Harry and Zayn aere more popular is because their music is very unique, Zayn being r and b and harry having his different style which catches people's eyes more than the rest.

I don’t think people realize that Louis voice is what makes the Chorus of 1D songs sound so good. I watched a video where he couldn’t be at a performance because he was sick, and it sounded so bland. Without Louie and his voice one direction would have been missing something. He is amazing at harmonizing and his solos are amazing. I don’t understand why people don’t think he has a good voice.

Tia Hawkins I was thinking the same thing! I jumped on the bandwagon right around the time the first album released, and it’s interesting to see how Liam began as the lead but with every album, it became more Zayn or Harry, depending on the song up until Zayn left. Liam started as the most polished and pitch perfect but Zayn and Harry always had more pleasant tones, so in my opinion, when they got their pitch problems under control, their producers or whoever was in charge recognized that Harry and Zayn’s voices were actually superior to Liam’s because an interesting tone plus good pitch is what makes for an all around good vocalist🤷🏼♀️ that’s what I think happened at least, could be wrong!

As time passed Harry and Zayn just had more potential than Liam.
Nial and Louis were just the weakest singers in a sense and in a group of 5 singers they cant all be main singers. So i think thats the reason they sang the fewest solos
