This recording of Al Green is the same one from '72. Joss Stone simply sang over it, while playing riffs on her guitar. Apparently when they went to put out a new album of Al's old love songs, they decided that they needed to give this one some new blood, help sell records . That's all well and good, but Al's version, suffice to say, needed no help at all.
It's a nice tribute to Al Green, but it's the same version of the same song, which was absolute perfection btw, with added instrumentals and vocals. To my ear all those musical additions simply detract from the original recording, but if people like it, that's great. The production and arrangement of the original needed no evolving to me.
Joss stone hasn't sold her soul, she is not signed to a Label. So she is an independent artist which is why she probably isn't experiencing a lot of fame and success. However, its always been about the quality of the music for her and I can fully respect that, considering today music has lost its standards.
When the artists sell their soul it usually pretty obvious, Tons of symbolism, and they change as the years go, they get really dark because they're possessed by a demon or many demons. Joss Stone is kind, and sweet in her soul, so yep she did not sell her soul.... Bravo
Bahar Din yes she is "all right" she could be better if she would stop trying to look pretty and sing the songs like she is just trying to look pretty. IMO she doesn't feel the songs, if she did she'd be amazing.
You shouldn't say anything as you can listen to her other songs and you still hear and feel the blues/soul in your gut. lt makes you sound like an idiot.
what a duet!! Joss Stone so gifted--the minute I saw her so many years ago she was such a little teenager with the deep soul of such a wise woman!! Her barefoot little feet stomping that stage--the power house voice--what a gifted woman!!!
***** Still a brilliantly written piece of music no matter who is singing it. "How can you mend a broken heart " is a brilliant line all by itself and sorry but I did love the bee Gees version anyway.
Grant Madden I appreciate your comment... peace and blessings for a happy new weekend... warm wishes to you, Marcie Once again, The Bee Gees wrote a Brilliant song no matter who the artist is that sings it, I love Al Greens version, but let's give credit to those guys I adore the Bee Gees.. T/C
+xXXBIG BROXXx : You are obviously nuts! The Bee Gees ARE Brilliant singer/songwriters, and have won many Awards and have been hailed as such. Their written music has sold more and earned more $$s than any other Artist/s in the 20th Century, including Elvis, MJ and the Beatles. They were such an incredible phenomenon. And all you can do is rave on abt this one version of Al's? Ha. This beautiful, poetic rhyme is inspired, like much of their music. In fact, Michael Jackson cried when he first listened to this song by the BGs and several others. He just had to meet them.
This is pure heart. Soak it up. Life is full of the self possessed. Things matter more than beings to them. This is pure love to everyone listening. Best Regards, Justin
They are both amazing artists however right now, I love the sound of Joss's voice. Has the pain and everything that I need to hear at the moment. Al Green has a most excellent voice as well. Just an amazing song.
First heard this song in 1977 when my dad died, was flying over the ocean from Switzerland to NYC. Things you never forget. Beautiful version. well done.
JOSS STONES & AL GREEN ... Who can mend a broken heart ... fantastic version of this Bee Gee ' s music! Does anyone know when this was recorded? Thanks!
When all the legendary soul singers first sung with Joss or heard her for the first time, their first thought will be like DAMN this woman is going to be huge. She's going straight to the top.
Joss can really belt it out! Although, there will never be another Janic Joplin. Alot of singers may do her music, but her raspy , blues are timeless. She will never be replaced!!
I love Al Green but, I also love the Bee Gees!! Al has such a soulful voice and my sister Carol loved his music!! We lost her in 2003 in her early 40's from a heart attack and I remember her singing this !!!
Al u the man & with Joss's soulful voice takes this song to a new height. I've loved your music since I was 11 or 12 yrs.old & now in my 50s.Long live your music!!!!!!!!
Joss is a "stone" singer highly underrated, any body that sang, that performed/ shared the stage with soul legends such as the late Solomon Burke James Brown Natalie Cole has got to be good
Yet another Brilliant, so soulful song written by The Bee Gees. And who are the 170 Morons that give this song a 'Thumbs Down.' Another Bee Gees song, meant for but never recorded by Percy Sledge, 'I just gotta get a message to you.' And their list is endless. Thanks for posting this great version of a great song.
OoooooooooOoOOOOOOoooooohhhh GURRRLLLLL I forgot all about Joss. Dang this is one of the most epic post duets ever. I havent felt this hyped about a generation blend since whitney and mariah's "when you believe"
This is a great collaboration..........Two great voices on a one great song....... Al Green is pure soul. Joss Stone is raw soul.... Soul personified.....
I moved to Detroit in 1946. Lived through big band music and when rock&roll started. Berry Gordy opened Hitsville at his home in 1959 which became Motown. What a great time to live. We lived around R&B and Soul music. I’ve been to Ike and Tina , Janis Joplin and most of the Rock legends concerts. The first time I heard Joss Stone in 2004 I thought she was black, she sounded like a sister. She has a great soulful thing going for herself. Joplin and Joss are sisters
First time I ever heard/saw her (yes saw her) was at the Sunfest a summer concert festival, in West Palm Beach years ago when she was only about 15!!! She was on stage singing at like 4 in the afternoon, hardly known then, not a big crowd, but when I heard her voice, that amazing soulful voice, she blew me away!!! And I knew one day she would be very famous! 😍
Fake this is Al Green Song but as usual guess whose getting the credit now yet he made it after bee gees over 40 years! Why seh trying to be black with fake ass voice when we know she did not grow up in a black gospel church
this gal has an amazing voice. but, because she isn't in mainstream music a lot of people do not know of her. which is a shame. her voice is so powerful.
Love my girl Joss Stone and Al Green baby that's a given. This song just touches my heart. Someone lost their child and this song came to my mind how can you mend this family.

A FAN FOR LIFE JOSS STONE 💕
I LOVE THIS SONG.......Joss Stone did WONDERS collaborating with Al Green.....Joss Stone is WONDERFUL.

@@durtyragoux How about an evolved version of a great song.

You can’t really call it a collaboration those are Al Green’s actual vocals from the original recording
She has a soul voice and he is great, what a good combination,
Tina Marie # 2.....just unique
No one sounds like the legendary Al Green!
Ms Joss Stone voice is absolutely beautiful.
I swear she bodied this one right here! Her voice is amazing. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.🔥🔥🔥

James Bryson I like this version cause man needs woman

James Bryson she might not have sold it but she hasn’t found it, she sings beautifully but has t found her ugly face to be able really sing. IMO
@@Armlesscrayon Joss Stone ... she's all right.
Bahar Din yes she is "all right" she could be better if she would stop trying to look pretty and sing the songs like she is just trying to look pretty. IMO she doesn't feel the songs, if she did she'd be amazing.
Sublime. 💕💕💕💕Didn't think this tune could be any better but Joss Stone just adds her super soulful voice to the mix and wow!!
Two generations of soul proving that quality transcends the ages. Truly beautiful!
all shes is doing sing over Al greens song - fake wanna be
You shouldn't say anything as you can listen to her other songs and you still hear and feel the blues/soul in your gut. lt makes you sound like an idiot.
@ Anton Miles...you're an ASS....who clearly doesn't know quality when you hear it. Hateful is what you are.
Those are not Al Green's original vocals, nor the original music
Sylvia Willhite yes but tomrow
its formality for me yes i say
wat do say
what a duet!! Joss Stone so gifted--the minute I saw her so many years ago she was such a little teenager with the deep soul of such a wise woman!! Her barefoot little feet stomping that stage--the power house voice--what a gifted woman!!!

Joss Stone en Al Green zijn echte top soul zangers. Hierdoor word je diep geraakt!!
Al, you couldnt have chosen a better duet partner for this legendary Al Green standard.
When all the legendary soul singers first sung with Joss or heard her for the first time, their first thought will be like DAMN this woman is going to be huge. She's going straight to the top.
