Luke, I am 45 and I think there was a time that I felt exactly as you do. It is at these times that we need to follow what BTS says and love ourselves. We will always fight depression and stress if we worry to much about the thoughts of others. Live life to your fullest and do things that will make you proud of yourself so that as your children grow, you are comfortable telling them that you are proud of them for all their accomplishments, big or small. We can break the cycles that our parents started. In order to be better parents to our children. Hang in there, you are doing great and your reactions are great fun. Be proud of yourself and know that we are with you.💜
What you said about your parents hit me so hard and I can feel it so much. I am dead for my mother, but I have a 13 year old who loves me more that I can imagine. Hang in there Luke. Parents can be so hard to understand and deal with. I am 53 and my mom is 91 and she still makes me feel like I’m not doing life right. You are the only one you have to face in the mirror so if you can do that, then you are doing okay.

This is why two of my favourite BTS songs are Anpanman and Paradise.
Anpanman -because even if you don't have much you can try to live happily and be a kind positive person. You can be a hero to someone with a kind word or gesture. That costs nothing.
Paradise -don't be so busy running and striving that you miss the precious moments in life. Slow down and appreciate what is around you like your children growing up, enjoying a good meal, hugging your lover, watching a great movie, enjoying a sunset, running in the rain. That is paradise. 💜
Luke, sitting here in tears for you and with you-watching this series (and PLEASE PLEASE keep doing it!) and these 7 talented, genuine human beings that are BTS is an incredible ride, it's such a privilege to get to know them so well from the beginning, and to watch their journey, struggles, successes and all. They touch something within us all, I feel, and the emotions they evoke are so deep, as you found in this one especially-they have made us ALL proud of them, and your boys will look to you in the same way, trust me. You have the following you do because you are the same, a caring and giving person-so genuine, and everything comes from your heart, and it is felt by all of us lucky enough to have found you. I could go on and on, but just KNOW that you are loved and cared about, and this "rabbit hole" that BTS has taken you down and all of us a well, has been the most fulfilling experience ever, and may it long continue. The love we have for these young men (no longer "boys") is unparalleled, but it is because of who they are, so deserving of all they have attained-and you are right, they are not like other "famous celebrity's" for they have not forgotten where they came from nor how they have gotten to where they are. They remain humble and kind, and epitomize what we all should strive to be. A shining example (and one I hope you will get to react to at some point) is JHope at Lollapalooza, and especially the VLive he did with Jimin-nothing shows their true friendship & brotherhood as that did, aside from the fact the Hobi totally owned that show-he was beyond amazing!!! BTS has never been afraid of showing themselves as vulnerable human beings. That is exactly what is so incredibly attractive about them. We can all relate to each one of them at some level or at some point. We see them cry, feel lonely, feel happy, nervous, anxious, scared, tired, sick just like we may feel at some point. They could very well keep all that to themselves and we would only see perfect superstars. Instead, they choose to be real with us, and that's why Army and BTS are one. You cannot have one without the other.

that's so funny that you're learning the dance to dope because when i was a baby army in 2015-16 that was my most played song and i loved it so much i tried to learn the chorus dance too! 😂i gave up after a few weeks and never actually learnt anything but it brought me back memories when you mentioned that about me being new and getting excited over everything bangtan haha

I always remember his words and i quote "idk how long I can be with BTS, therefore while I'm here I want to show them my love to the fullest" he is angels.
This may not give you any comfort but as a loyal viewer since you started your BTS journey, I am very proud of you. You have amazing qualities that show through your videos. Sometimes people have flawed parents. Maybe your parents will continue in their blindness...maybe not...but in any case you need to live your life for you. How you chose to go down your path will show your boys your character. I have no doubt they will be proud of you too. Showing your boys how proud you are of them (in even their smallest accomplishments) will open their eyes to the importance of self pride which opens the door to the generalized concept being applied to others. Also, remember to acknowledge pride in how they overcome what others may consider to be flaws or negative situations. You are ARMY so you have my unconditional support. Ah Luke, same. I was 42 years old the first time (and last) I ever heard my dad say he was proud of me-you could have knocked me over with a feather. I don’t know you, but you seem to be a truly nice man. Your sons are blessed to have a dad that thinks the way you do! Break the generational cycle!!! Have conversations with your boys. Let them know when you’re proud, tell them you love them, teach them how to be gentlemen.

My dad struggled his whole life but I never doubted his feelings for me, he was and is always my hero. My mom….it will never be good enough…so my kids and I have the relationship I had with my dad. I refused to ever let them feel the way my mom makes me feel. Sometimes that push to do better than your parents make you a better one.
I believe it took 2-3 years (after debut)before Sugas parents finally came to a concert and approved so it must have felt so amazing to him. 💜💜💜💜

Make yourself proud.....love yourself! Some of us are not blessed with parents who are nurturing, and it is because of the baggage that they (parents) are carrying within themselves. At some point, if you are in just that kind of situation, it takes some energy, reflection, and self love to realize that your own joy, pride, and love for yourself comes from within you. It is very wise of you to realize that you don't have to accept your parent's baggage and can set a lovely tone for your own family.

Luke, your subscribers adore you. You are such a sweet, honest guy. I’m 67 and my struggle has been to love without expectations. My daughters love me, I know, but they don’t live close and I wish we could just chat on the phone more. I lost my mom when I was 18 and she was 50. She died rather suddenly from cancer. I wish my kids understood that I wont be around forever. But I do my best to love and support them and accept the time they give me. The pandemic pushed us further apart because we couldn’t visit. It’s not the relationship I wanted to have with them when they grew up but it is what it is. Not many people have the closeness BTS has created together. But we can do our best to love ourselves and the people who come into our lives, family or not.
I'm one of those watching the series for the first time with you Luke. Some of the things on it I've seen snippets of in compilations but never the full thing. I had seen Suga doing the deep bow to his family and crying, I had heard J-Hopes words to his family but I had never heard what Namjoon said and his words really hit home to me. I was sobbing along with you Luke, maybe for different reasons, but we all can interpret their wise words into many aspects of our own lives and that is why we find BTS so inspiring. Somehow, at such young ages, they have all the right words to make us feel like we have a connection with them and it is when I felt that connection that I realised I'm ARMY.
We love you Luke, your honest and heartfelt reactions are what make you so easy to connect with as well. You are doing an amazing job, you work so hard for your family, there is no doubt in my mind that your boys will be proud of their dad.

I am proud of you. I have been watching since day 1 of your BTS journey. I am 54 yo female from California and I understand having unsupportive parents. I broke that cycle with love. I remember you just popped up on my recommended videos and it was your first video. Black Swan I believe. It was the very day you posted it. I know how you feel about your parents and your own family. So happy you decided to break the cycle. No better guy than you to start a totally different environment and your boys will do that with their family. I haven’t watch Rise of Bangtan, but I had seen videos of J-Hope, Jin and Suga talking about their families, so I knew I’d be crying. I was not prepared for the intense reaction to your crying. Thanks for sharing that piece of yourself with us. As someone who never had my parents respect or were proud of me, I can tell you that being proud of yourself and your legacy is more important. When you let go of that burden, weight, you can really begin to soar and be the person you were meant to be. Being aware is half the battle so I’m sure you will succeed. 💜💜💜💜

I'm in the same boat where I know I'll never truly make my parents proud. Even though I know my mom cares about me and I'll always love her, I'm not living life the way she wants. I had to come to realize this is my life to live. I try my hardest to do things that make me proud. Even though I falter, even when I let the negative emotions crush my heart, I still get back up and put myself out there to help others and show kindness and love. I'm my biggest supporter and my worst critic and I have to accept that and be proud of it too.
It takes a lot of strength and courage to say what you said and to openly show your emotions the way you do. Just from that alone you show your sons what a true huMAN looks like. That's gonna have such a positive effect not just on your sons, but many future sons and daughters to come.
