@@WhoviIle it will do absolutely everything better than an r3, but then there are bikes that do everything better than the r7, so depends if you want a smaller upgrade or bigger
Really depends on the circumstances tbh. Bad rider with an S1K vs a good rider with an MT09 on a straight pretty much guarantees that the bad rider wins. On a track it's a completely different story tho
straights, after 110 no way. corners depends on the group. i had an r1 rider in intermediate tell me that he could barely keep up with my xsr900 but i was having a hell of a time keeping up with the 600's.
On a twisty road and a good rider, sure. On an open stretch of highway like that, nope. A 600 is usually good for a legit 155mph or so. An R7 isn't gonna hang with that unless you do some serious work to that motor.

So 165 on its dash, was only 155 actual. This is 100% normal for factory speedo's... There are tons of guys that did the -1 front and +2 rear sprocket setup to get better acceleration, and they think they are doing 170 on a 600 when they are actually doing 140mph because their speedo was off by 18% and they didn't even realize it. lol

No and even from dead stop if 600 knows how to launch r7 has zero chance. Harder to launch 600 fast but rev right and you are in that 130hp as fast as r7 in that 80hp and weight is dead even so nochance if 600 rider knows how to ride. 60 ft time at drag strip 600 still kills it
There is no comparison. However, if the SS rider is a new rider and the person on the R7 is seasoned, the R7 will still lose. I find it funny as hell when a rider considers their R7 a SS because Yamaha did not want to lose their market share when the Yamaha SS R6 was discontinued. The R7 is no SS. Not even close.
Agreed, but it also depends on where your riding at. on a highway it’s like you said there is no comparison, butttttt on a technical road a decent rider could keep up/take a SS for sure. I’ve kept up with many bigger bikes in the twisties. A lot of people call it a SS because technically that’s what it’s classified as, learnt that when I went to insure it and paid more than I expected. My R7 got stolen so next bike will be a true SS💯

Yo. We gotta run it against my bros speed triple asap
I have the R3 and was going to upgrade to the 23 R7
Is it worth it? Not just for keeping up with 600s.
But for performance? Cornering? Handling?

@Big Fulla Ahhh ok well that makes sense my friend. But definitely a small upgrade. I'm in no rush. 🎉
I own an R7 and can say with confidence that we can up to about 65-70mph but then the 600 will pull away like there is no tomorrow,🤘😎🎸🏍

I'm on a 21 mt09 and I keep up with the liters no problems. You would be amazed what good riders can do with "smaller" bikes.

How so? The R7 is selling like crazy
