    Regarding the thing about the number of rounds; 15 Rounds was how long title fights used to last, the 10 rounds against Dixon was because of it being a non title exhibition, and 12 rounds is the length of title fights today and how long the fight against Dixon would have been had the title been on the line.

    The spinoff that nobody saw coming.
    Very much on par with the first and last Rocky films.
    I knew that Apollo had a couple kids (boy and girl) that were in Rocky 2.
    Pre-release, I thought that Adonis was one of those kids.
    But as the child that nobody knew about was a big surprise.
    Loved the writing and direction by Ryan Coogler, who got the job for Marvel Studios' Black Panther after the film's success.
    B. Jordan gives a great performance with a good cast around him.
    The script, camera work, choreography for the fights, etc do not dissapoint.
    Stallone as Rocky just endures more and more.
    He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in this movie.
    The 2nd time he'd ever been nominated for the role and won the Golden Globe for it.
    It ain't over till it's over.
    Wait till you see part 2.

    In 1982 the rounds in a boxing match were shortened from 15 to 12. The reason being a Korean boxer who died in the ring and studies showed that the brain becomes more prone to damage after the 12th round. Most of Rocky's fights went 15 rounds because of the time period he fought where Creed's follows today's rules. Rocky's fight in the last movie went 10 rounds because it was an exhibition.

    • @Jason-bk3nl
      @Jason-bk3nl Před rokem +1

      @@tragicpsycho3349 Rocky Balboa is one of the most iconic movie characters of all time, and for good reason. From his humble beginnings as a small-time boxer to his rise as a champion and beloved public figure, Rocky has captured the hearts of audiences around the world. There are many reasons why Rocky Balboa is the greatest movie character of all time, and here are just a few of them.
      Firstly, Rocky is a character that people can relate to. He's not perfect, and he's not always the hero. He's a flawed, complex individual who struggles with his own demons, just like the rest of us. But through it all, he perseveres and never gives up. He embodies the spirit of determination and hard work, and inspires us to believe that we too can achieve greatness if we put our minds to it.
      Secondly, Rocky is a character that transcends time and culture. Despite being created over 40 years ago, his story still resonates with audiences today. This is because his struggles and triumphs are universal themes that we can all relate to. Whether we're watching Rocky for the first time or the hundredth time, we can't help but feel inspired by his journey.
      Thirdly, Rocky is a character that represents the underdog. He's a working-class hero who defies the odds and proves that anyone can achieve their dreams with hard work and determination. This message is particularly relevant in today's world, where many people feel like they're facing insurmountable obstacles. Rocky shows us that we can overcome even the toughest challenges if we believe in ourselves and never give up.
      Lastly, Rocky is a character that has had a profound impact on popular culture. He's not just a movie character - he's a symbol of hope and inspiration that has inspired countless people around the world. From his iconic training montages to his memorable catchphrases, Rocky has become a cultural touchstone that will continue to endure for generations to come.
      In conclusion, Rocky Balboa is the greatest movie character of all time because he represents the best of humanity - determination, perseverance, and the belief that anyone can achieve greatness if they set their mind to it. He's a character that we can all relate to, and his message of hope and inspiration will continue to resonate with audiences for years to come.

  • @coldbluddjp
    @coldbluddjp Před rokem +7

    I remember It initially bugging me upon my first viewing that Rocky lost their 3rd fight, but then quickly coming to the conclusion that it made complete sense due to how much love and respect he probably had for Apollo by that point. His heart could never fully be 'in it' for a full blown, knock down, drag out war like their initial encounters. NOT to say Apollo wouldn't have given him one phenomenal bout by any stretch. But that the landscape between the two - especially on Rocky's side of things - changed so much for the better. His respect for Apollo was ALWAYS there even when they fought back in the day... but throw in an almost best mate/brotherly love in to the mix...
    I LOVE seeing new fans get so involved and invested in these amazing characters I grew up with the same way I did. And the Creed movies have been such a great evolution of the Rocky legacy. Great movie and a great reaction as always. 🤙

      I have to disagree. I think because of his profound respect and friendship with Apollo, he would always give everything he possibly had in a fight with Apollo. They were both great fighters. In the time of Rocky 1-4, most World Championship fights were 15 rounds. In 1982, Duk Koo Kim of South Korea challenged Ray Mancini for the WBA lightweight title. The fight was competitive for 12 rounds, but Mancini knocked him out in the 14th round and the challenger never woke up. Kim died four days later. After that, they started shortening title fights to 12 rounds. The reason the Balboa-Dixon fight was 10 rounds is because it was an exhibition, not for the title.

    My Grandmother passed away from cancer when I was 13. It was the first time I had ever been alive to witness the death of a family member, it shook me so much.
    3 years later my mother nearly died from blood loss, she was saved by the grace of GOD. The doctors even said that she was saved by a miracle, they kept trying to draw blood from her, and all they could get was water. I didn't know how serious it was, until my dad explained it to me.

    I wasn't crazy about the Creed series, to me they just felt like weaker versions of the Rocky series, nothing really stands out on its own. I think there was a way of telling a good story without making it seem like a carbon copy. I'll watch Creed 3 but my expectations are not high at all.
