    Rocky going through cancer treatment is emotional as hell. My Dad is going through the same thing he's coming home today from the hospital so this just hits close to home for me and really reflects alot of people going through cancer it's a battle and I'm proud of everyone who has overcome or battling cancer happy the film was able to highlight this and hopefully motivates people going through the same thing. Glad you loved this film the 2nd is my personal favourite just not sure if a third film is needed but hey i know many people said the same about a third Rocky film and that proved us wrong lol

    It’s hard to find a long running series pull off a “passing of the torch” storyline so smoothly. This is one of those rare instances when they nailed it. It honors Rocky’s legacy, Apollo’s and builds a new one for Adonis. Creed 2 is a solid follow up to it as well.

    Crazy thing about the times Adonis was knocked out during the beginning when he was in Lil Duke's gym & then in the finale, he actually took those shots and was really knocked out. It's insane to think about what people will go through to make the film more realistic

    • @sage7980
      @sage7980 Před 2 lety +13

      I still find that crazy. Michael B Jordan wanted it to look just as real as the director but everyone was still afraid. After the knock out Michael was so happy that he survived a full on punch from Tony Bellow he started bragging and asked Tony if he really hit him as hard as he could. Tony laughed and said maybe 50% power. That’s when Michael realized what these boxers can do.

    This movie turned out better than I ever expected, as a lifelong Rocky fan. They really did make a modern Rocky story while still making it part of the series. I love how the movie all comes down to one sentence, "To prove I'm not a mistake." Echoes that Rocky in the first film wants to prove he's not just a bum. And when that Rocky theme finally plays it really feels like they earned it. Creed II comes a very close second to this one, and even adds more layers to one of the Rocky films...

    They really should've directly acknowledged the events of Rocky V in this one and used it as Rocky's reason for being wary of training anyone again. I mean, you _can_ look at it that way if you want (if you happen to remember part 5), but they never just come right out and say it. Didn't have to spend a lot of time on it. Didn't even have to speak the name Tommy Gunn if they didn't want to. Just something along the lines of "Hey, ya know... the last time I tried this manager thing, it didn't turn out too well." And he could've shot back with something like "Yeah, I know. But this isn't last time." Boom. Past events: acknowledged. Moving on.

    Yes, Mary Ann. Twice. Unlike Ryan Coogler, I was paying attention when they said "Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed" and "Creed's never been knocked down before." So yeah, twice, in January and November of 1976.
    In Stallone's script for "Rocky IV," he answered the "who won the third fight" and the answer was... no one. They both hit each other with the punch we saw, realized it was stupid and they hurt, and quit. As they're leaving the gym, Rocky says, "Can I ask you something, Apollo? Did you have a brick in your glove." Apollo laughs and responds, "Stallion, I was about to ask you the same thing!" Personally, I think that's a better follow up than it being a real fight.

I’m glad they didn’t kill Rocky off and they didn’t Luke Skywalker him either. My favorite scene is the last corner break when Donnie admits he wants to prove he’s not a mistake and Rocky tells Donnie he loves him. ❤️. The Rocky theme kicks in for the first time. This composer Ludwig Goranson won an Oscar for Black Panther and he does the entire seasons 1 and 2 of the Mandolorian. He’s won two Emmy’s for that. When you finish season 1 of the Mandolorian check out the Galley the making of season 1 Mandaloran. There are 8 episodes and one episode is all about Goranson and the music. There is also a great discussion by show creator about George Lucas’ view of the dual of the fates and it will change how you view Episode I the Phantom Menace. There is also an episode with a round table of the actors and Carl Weathers (Apollo himself) is participating. He’s so awesome and so humble when one of the actresses talks about how much she learned from him.

    One thing that adds to the authenticity of both "Rocky Balboa" and "Creed" (and "Creed II") is the use of real-life boxers and boxing personalities in the film. In "Rocky Balboa," Mason Dixon was played by Antonio Tarver -- who was the light heavyweight champion of the world at the time. In "Creed," Danny Wheeler is played by Andre Ward -- former super middleweight and light heavyweight champion and one of the best boxers of the last 20 years. And Ricky Conlan is played by former cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew. Add that to the Mike Tyson cameo in "Rocky Balboa" and the appearance of Michael Buffer and the HBO Boxing announcers in both movies and it gives the modern films a more realistic feel... and it definitely helps to make "Creed" something VERY special.

    I tell anyone who’s a fan of the Rocky movies to give "Million Dollar Baby" a watch! Another boxing movie, in a lot of ways it’s different than the Rocky movies but in some it’s a lot alike! The main character has the same heart as Rocky.

    Don't like how they say rocky should have thrown in the towel even tho Drago pushed the ref away as they fought so it wouldn't have mattered 🤔

    The guy who knocked him out in Dukes gym at the beginning who was rated #2 Pound for Pound is played by an actual a boxer named Andre Ward. Andre Ward is the last male boxer from America to win a Gold Medal in the Olympics (2004). He was also ironically ranked as the actual #2 pound for pound boxer right behind Floyd Mayweather in the real word when this movie came out. Although him and Floyd could never fight because Andre Ward is about 3 weight classes heavier then Floyd. Ward dominated at 168 pound Super Middleweight moved up and achieved wins over the most dangerous Light Heavyweight(175) at the time and retired undefeated. Some of the clips in the movie are from his real fights. It was amazing for boxing fans to see him in this. A master of his craft.
    The main villian/opponent is also played by a boxer named Tony Bellew. Not as highly regarded as Andre Ward but a very good champion at Cruiserweight(190).

    Let Apollo win!?!? Apollo was the one who trained him and brought him from the dead. He didn't Stop, that's different when you're talking about a fighter, He QUIT! Pick him up brushed them off. Adrian gave Advice to fight, but go out and start a fight 9 out of 10 your getting trashed and in the emergency room. But the with direction and the right instructor You can beat your opponent.
