Wendy Whelan, a great NYCB ballerina, once said that Forsythe's choreography was the hardest thing to dance for all of her 30 years on stage. Honestly, when i was younger i couldn't say what was so special about him. Now i see that the way he hears music and uses space is one of a kind. I absolutely love Sylvie and Adam in this. Thanks for posting this great rendition.
I saw this live. Her phrasing and timings made me agasp. It's not only about the gift and the extension. The question is HOW. I hold her accountable for losing the real lust to go to see the ballets these days. I obviously still go. But this was another level.
It's literally impossible for any dancer who shares the stage with her to shine. She sucks all the light and oxygen out of every collaboration. She's that good!
I believe this is the point. For many years this choreography appeared to be a piece of abstraction to me. But now i can see a story of relationship between a ballbreaker and a lapdog guy. In the beginning, he tries to approach her (but gets kicks for it), then he starts mimicking her movements, and finally he starts wearing the same clothes as hers. Or maybe i's just my immagination?..

She's magnificent!. I can't say how thankful I am for this upload.
My God, those legs! One immediately starts choreographing.
Watching this is like meditation. They make it look like a total improvisation.
