Many people look at him as a daniel jones,Andy dalton, ryan tannehill,Jimmy G type of QB. Bro is so underrated big Kirko
Kirk cousins had a very quiet good year. I remember in week 11 he was at 24 TD and 3 ints and like nobody was really talking about him. Individually 2021 has been his best season.
Individual stats donât really matter yet when he retires ppl gne roll back around to those numbers
It seems like a mental thing with him. A need to win game heâs just not doing that. Iâd say he plays it too safe but that could be on Zimmer. Itâll be an interesting year especially with the nfc this open
@@Sdemmy980 except Zim was literally telling the Press that he needed Kirk and Klint to be aggressive and if Kirk threw a pick then so be it.
Zim understood he needed more out of the offense and Big plays were the only thing the Vikings offense was good at hence the good QB stats, but the stats that show why teams win like 3rd down percentage and sustained drive times, the vikings were 26th in 3rd down and were 32nd the worst in the NFL at sustaining drives.
and this was with ZIm pleading in his pressers for Kirk to be more aggressive.
@@johnkeith8619 yeah itâs hard to tell what actually happened in the locker room. Players openly talked about how awkward it got. Iâve been saying for ever, how is throwing a 50 yard pick worse than 3 and out. Stafford is a great example of how risk and reward works but to be fair last year had to do mainly with defense. Kirk played bad on clutch games but ultimately that defense blew it over him. Zimmer loved running the ball and always has I hope this yearâs better with the nfc being wide open
@@johnkeith8619 then the next week kirk threw an interception and zimmer blamed him for losing the game⊠zimmer was simply too hard headed and out of date, blamed the players too
Every year Kirk is usually around the top 10 spot, sometimes top 7. Thats better than 22- 25 other starters at QB. No one said he's Brady but he's one hell of a lot better than he's made out to be.
From a Vikes fan, he may not be the answer, but he's definitely not the problem. Especially last year. Our defense pissed away so many leads.
This. And thank God we got a new coach cause Zimmer singlehandedly tanked our chances of making the playoffs last year.
Can't blame everything on defense if you watched games last year they got interceptions for Kirky and he just can't get it done.đ©
I noticed that too. I always felt like the Vikings scored a lot of points, but would still lose the game and that falls sorely on the defense
fr tho i go to my grandpa's every weekend and we get PISSED off but im glad u said this!
@@hueyang5943 their offense was 14th in points and 12th in yards. Thatâs a over average. Their defense was 24th in points allowed and 30th in yards allowed per game.
Heâs one of those QBs we will look back 20 years from now and ask why he couldnât achieve more team success despite his great stats.
I'm still wondering why NOBODY talks about the Vikings defense/special teams. Kirk Cousins isn't the entire team
hes like rodgers but far worse with better players
@@ajburrr When the defense is constantly on the field because you lead the league in 3 and outs you can't blame them too much.
@@2Evil2Hope if you lead the league in 3 & outs with 2 star receivers and a top 5 back thatâs a QB issue. Obviously, play calling probably is awful but a good qb converts those 3rd downs. One of the best offenses nfl ever seen scores eight points in the Super Bowl 2007 patriots 18-0 score 17 points against the Giants
I agree, take Tom Brady for example; played in a gimmie division his entire career with the Patriots. Dolphins, Jets, and Bills had No teams so they were easy non-injury scare games that improved his chances of getting to the play-offs. More injuries you have, more likely you're gonna get beat. I don't see Tom Brady as the GOAT, and quite frankly his GOAT status is just hype. Not saying he's not a good quarterback, he's just been on good teams with good coaching in a gimme division. Kirk on the other hand, just hasn't had that luck.
@@zay_gzs5635 Do you know how to end a sentence? Did you forget that a period exists?
The thing that everyone fails to mention when they bring up the 2020 season and the 2021 season is that the defense lost us most of the games these past two seasons. The offense did enough to win the games, but the defense would give up the victory somewhere in the last two minutes.
I'm truly glad that Cousins is our QB. Now that we have a HC that gives a fuck about him, I'm excited to see what our offense does in 2022. SKOL!
Yâall shouldâve did what the Rams did but Iâm not sure if Kirk cousins is good enough to win the other defense hasnât been great but Case Keenum has gone farther than this man
@@zay_gzs5635 Case Keenum took us farther thanks to having Stefon Diggs, young Adam Thielen and the number one ranked defense that season. Our 2017 defense was insane. That's why Case hasn't had success anywhere else.
Kirk has proven that he's capable. That 2019 playoff game against the Saints, IN New Orleans was unreal. Yeah we lost to the 49ers in the divisional, but they had the number one ranked defense that season and went on to almost beat the Chiefs in the SB đ€·đœââïž
Our offense isn't what has lost us the majority of games, it has been our garbage secondary leaving wide open passes all season long. Plus having a weak as hell pass rush thanks to injuries.
KOC has been here for only a few months and our defensive roster looks just as good on paper as our 2017 roster. Possibly better thanks to the scheme switch.
Zimmer had too much of a dictator role when he was HC, and he didn't want Cousins at all, so Cousins wasn't allowed to be a QB and a leader of the team like other QBs in the league, so now that KOC is here, we will hopefully be seeing even more out of Kirk. If over the next two seasons we don't win the North and have a good amount of success, then I'll agree to moving on from Cousins, but I need real evidence, not just what the NFL analysts say without ever watching Vikings football đ€·đœââïž I respect your opinion though
@@TheAfroNinja712 he has never proven he can win this BIG games you really need. Very few times. To. Many. Excuses. You canât count on one hand. Go back to his Washington days. Dude is always surrounded by talent but when the game is on that line he always will outthink himself into a mistake. He cannot beat good teams man. And then itâs always an excuse for him. If you just WATCH him, he will shrink. Iâve seen him get drafted. Was optimistic at first but it just those big game and moments that come up short. Puts up good stats tho. Is a nice guy. Just sayin. He has to prove it. You canât just give it to him.
@@ryanjackson8176 I've truly never understood the whole "Wins = a QB stat" thing. Every part of the team counts towards the win/loss column. Same reason why Stafford never won a playoff game with the Lions but then wins a SB the second he's on the Rams, it's not because he just decided to be good when he went to LA, it's because this was the first time every part of his team was great.
His first season wasn't anything crazy impressive, but the past three seasons he's done great. Idk what else you could want from a QB that regularly gets over 4,000 yards a season, 30 TDs and single digit INTs. If you're not getting wins from that, then maybe the QB isn't the problem..? đ€
Everybody forgets to look at the bottom ranked defenses that we had the last two seasons, and the fact that our OC had the worst playcalling ability the Vikings had hired in a loooong time last season.
It's easy to look at a team and point at the QB when the W/L column looks how it does, but when you actually watch the Vikings every week, you know that it's not Cousins that had ruined the Vikings đ€·đœââïž
This is the first time that the offense will be built around Cousins' strengths and not have the HC bitching at the OC saying we need to run the ball 50 times a game.
And to say Cousins can't win big games is ridiculous. Especially after beating the 13-3 Saints in NO as the 10-6 underdogs in OT in 2019. That was just one game we won that was important, but it was incredibly important at the time. So that narrative is ridiculous to hear. Not saying he's perfect but damn people talk like he's a bottom three QB.
@@TheAfroNinja712 you canât compare him to Matthew Stafford first of all theyâre not the same in talent at all. Second of all Kirkwood has been on far better superior teams with more talent than Matthew Stafford so you cannot compare. You can break down the stats and all you want to but when you look at the primetime numbers and games against winning teams he has a losing record. You can break it down all those paragraphs you want to but at the end of the day we all know he is just a good quarterback who shrinks under pressure.
I remember at the end of RG III's first year I was telling everyone I would trade him and keep Kirk Cousins. This guy is seriously underrated. He is Top 10 in league for sure. I maintain he gets so much hate from the football world because of his low draft position and people refuse to see him as anything other than a low rounder who got lucky. He's a baller. Not his fault his teams defenses are almost always ranked 20th or lower.

It's just a shame that Cousins success is measured by the defense's failures.
So many close games were lost in 2021 that could have been wins, had the defense been able to stop anyone.
Cousins would orchestrate unbelievable scoring drives, late in the game. Just to have the defense piss it away.
Zimmer's defensive prowess was an abysmal failure when he lost the ear of his players.
Kirk is already changing his narrative, 9-2 so far with 7 game winning drives this year! He's the reason Minnesota is winning this year!
Kirk was clutch in almost all of the games last year and the defense gave up more points than we put up usually making it come down to the Last possession... and the play calling was conservative at best with the 26th rated offensive line and 22nd rated defense maybe 28th it's really terrible.. Zimmer threw a wrench đ§ into the offensive scheme we should have seen..
Exactly. I get tired of the " He doesn't elevate the play of his teammates" and shit like that. How's he supposed to do that other than to drop the ball on a dime anywhere on the field and give HIS guy the best chance to catch it like he does? Stat wise he was doing his job better than 22 or 23 other QB's with a coach that did all he could to derail Cousins.
If you have to have someone else elevate your play then you need to GTFO.
If he's so clutch, why didn't the Vikings make the playoffs, even though they're letting in more teams than ever before? I mean if they came down to the last possession, clutch players win.

Right, because not even making it to the expanded NFL playoffs is the true sign of greatness. Do you know how many Denver teams John Elway dragged to the Super Bowl? Cousins sucks. Period.
@@encycl07pedia- it shows you didnât watch a single Vikings game last year.
I have watched Cousins play ever since he was RG3's backup on the Redskins in 2012. I am a Washington fan so I have seen most of the games he played when he was here. I feel Cousins has always been good. He moved the ball extremely well, but if there was any knock on him when he was with us it was that he often struggled with making the touchdown passes. He struggled with a short field. We had good players on offense so it wasn't his supporting cast holding him back, hell he had Sean McVay calling his plays also. But anyway, I feel he has always been a very good quarterback, I wish we kept him. But the problem with how much attention he gets I feel is from the fact that most of the time he is not very flashy, that's what a lot of people out here love. Not me, I want a reliable quarterback, but most people seem to love the running quarterbacks who makes a highlight play when they run with the ball. Whoop dee do is what I say to that, lol.
@@rf5390 I think cousins biggest strength especially since heâs been in Minnesota has been his redzone ability. I donât have any numbers to back up my claim but more often than not heâs scoring tds instead of kicking field goals/turnovers. Some of his biggest issues still stem from not having very good protection especially right up the middle immediately after the ball is snapped. Heâs not elusive or incredibly mobile so heâs not going to run for a a bunch of yards but heâs smart and tough so he knows to live for another play instead of just throwing it up all Willy nilly.

Yeah. That 3-yard completion on 4th and 8 was legendary...
â@@encycl07pedia- *butthurt cousins simp "that was the defenses fault! It's not his fault he threw the ball short of a first down because of the defense" đ
Cousins career so far is similar to Stafford. Stafford was seen as not being very special and a garbage time god to pad his stats for most of his career until he got to the Rams. Cousins is much more accurate and doesn't have as strong of an arm, but overall I think he is better than Stafford. When it comes down to it, the Vikings have not had a good coaching staff, good O line, and their defense has deteriorated every year since they signed Cousins. The win/loss record is not his fault. It is a product of bad coaching/bad defense. I'm hoping the Vikings new head coach will get it right. As their roster is right now they have to win shootouts and you can't do that by running on first and second down every time you have a lead. That kind of strategy only lets the opposition back in the game. The Vikings could have been a playoff team the past few seasons if the coaching staff had kept the foot on the gas on offense to put the game away instead of trying to keep the game close and have a shoddy defense win it.
Stafford has the qb mentality. Big difference.
@@Prag11 what does that even mean? Cousins is a competitor. If you look at his 4th quarter performance stats from the past season you can't tell me he isn't. He runs the offense well and performed well under McVay's offense when he was with Washington. Cousins has only gotten better since his time in Washington with his accuracy and his turnover ratio.

"he isn't a top 10 QB, but the tier just out side looking in..." There are only 32 QBs, so if he is not top 10, he is middle of the pack - average. I think the consensus is the he is above average (but not elite). Exactly where you placed him, not ridiculously underrated. The problem fans have is not his ability, it is his pay. He is not elite, he can not carry the team, but he is paid like it. That means the team can not afford to surround him with the talent HE needs to make a run. So the Vikings are stuck until they dump him, or he takes a pay cut (HA!).

Before anyone starts shouting or throwing sharp objects, put yourself in Cousins' shoes. If you were given a fully guaranteed contract, and you have a family to feed, would you refuse? (Anyone who dares mention Tom Brady, get out, you clearly do not know that Brady is NOT the primary breadwinner of his family.) The real villain that deserves the blame is former Vikings GM Rick Spielman, cause if not for him drafting that fully guaranteed contract, maybe this would have been a non-issue.
Heâs not underrated to the guys on the Vikings paying him. If he took a pay cut then he could be in the conversation for underrated.
Youâre my favorite quarterback I wish I was a good quarterback like you, my friend always Youâre my favorite all the timeâ€â€đđđąđźđ đâ€â€â€â€â€
Ko punch đ is going to make us a high flying offense and a new revamped defensive scheme with 2 of the best pass rushing Animals in the world đ
Lmao yeah that didn't age well
Well put, people where so quick to rag on him last year when we had the 31st ranked defense in the league and a suspect O line at best. I'd even wager he breaks top 10 QBs if only at 10.
Kirk Cousins isn't escaping the narrative that he's a quarterback who can't win, unless he at least gets Minnesota to a Super Bowl. Those who like criticizing Cousins will find his failures and ignore the accomplishments. Cousins was very good last season. The Vikings had the fewest interceptions in the NFL, and it wasn't because he was checking down. Cousins' AY/A (adjusted yards per attempt, a Pro Football Reference stat) was 8.1, sixth in the NFL. His Pro Football Focus passing grade was fourth among all quarterbacks. He gets blame for the Vikings not making a deep playoff run, and some of that is justified. He also wasn't responsible for a defense last season that gave up yards in bulk. He's typecast as a QB who isn't good enough to lead his team anywhere. Unfair or not, that's how he'll be remembered unless he and the Vikings change it.
Defensively, the Vikings will be shifting to a 3-4 look with new coordinator Ed Donatell, a 31-year NFL veteran, though Donatell said the team will use multiple looks up front. The Vikings defense had surprisingly cratered under Mike Zimmer, finishing 30th in yards allowed last season, but there's still talent. It starts with safety Harrison Smith, who O'Connell called "the perfect player for the defensive structure we want to play," in terms of versatility and disguising coverages. There are a couple of impact pass rushers in Za'Darius Smith and Danielle Hunter, good interior defenders and a solid inside linebacker in Eric Kendricks. There will be a transition period for the Vikings defense but perhaps the changes will have a quick and positive impact.
~ctto~
Also add in he's had a new offensive coordinator every year since being with the vikings!
Just because you made this video, hes gonna go 8-8-1
No 7-10 max
if that it won't be because of him
You like that! You like that!
One of the best offenses in the league year after year n he can't win the games that matter ! Much less a playoff game! He's really good but there a thin line between really good n great
Vikings about to give this man a 4 year $160 million fully guaranteed contract.
I hope they do, it'll help the division
As a Vikings fan heâs pretty fairly rated. He has never won shit so until he proves heâs a winner heâs nothing
Yeah definitely because I don't really hear anything about the Vikings the only thing hear is about is Justin Jefferson and also I dont know what the issue with the Minnesota Vikings as far as being Super Bowl Contenders
He's consistently just above the Dalton line. That's actually good but not great.
And remember kids, football is a TEAM sport.
Youâre blind if you think Andy Dalton is even close to Cousins
@@takedownTony6 no not now. Maybe a few years ago. I'm referring more to the concept of the Dalton line.
@@alikaostermiller ohhh ok well no heâs good not great but to say he is Average is not giving him full credit. Heâs fringe top 10 and top 15 but not 15. he threw 33 TDs 7int with the 3rd highest Passer Rating only behind AR and Joe Burrow And PFF(which doesnât grade in stats but on a play by play basis) also graded him out at 88 which is better than Matt Stafford, Derek Carr, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Dak, Joe Burrow, and pretty much everyone else not named Brady,Rodgers and Herbert. In no way Am I saying heâs better than everyone up there but all the numbers point to good-great. Andy Daltons best year he threw 33TDs and 20 ints đ€·đœââïžItâs really night and day. Did you know Kirk cousins Orchestrated 4 game winning drives this year and it wouldâve been 8 if not for 2 game deciding field goals misses, a dalvin cook fumble and a 3rd and 18 allowed by the defense. His offensive line Ranked 26th out of 32 teams and defense 28th. Just go look at the stats and they will all point to him being pretty good I just challenge you to actually watch a game.
@@takedownTony6 yea that's my point. Above Dalton line = above average and might win a few play off games. I guess you said the same in a more complicated way.
Why?! ....1) Night Lights makes him freeze up, 2) He's only a "9-5" guy, according to him, 3) He's afraid to run for the goddamn 1st Down, despite the field being Wide TF OPEN!... Want me to continue????
As a Vikings fan, I have absolutely no problem with Kirk being our starter for the rest of his career. He was 33-7 with Zimmer and Klint Kubiak calling plays⊠Iâm excited to see the outcome with a coaching staff that actually wants to score points.
This guy is the best QB we have had. If the Vikings don't make the playoffs with a SB winning OC Coach calling the shots and a guy who can play as good as Rodgers in Rival games i dont know what else can be done. Vikings have everything they need to win.
As an Eagles fan, I have no problem with you starting Cousins for the rest of your career, because that's a guaranteed win anytime you play the vikings in prime time. What happened Monday night?
@Steven Hadley. I am a Vikings fan but I agree totally with you. Kirk sucks on MNF and in games in prime time TV
ââ@@TimesUp777but but he finally won some close games. Dude FINALLY lives up to his hype a little and people want to put him in the hof
commenting in november 19,2022 and the viking are 8-1 and just beat the best team in nfl right now the bills. This video is a hundred percent correct.
Yeah that 4th down pass short of the first down said differently
The biggest problem I always had with Kirk, is that he's not clutch. If you put the ball in his hands to make a game winning drive, 9 out of 10 times you'll be handed a loss.
Really depends who you are playing he does good against shitty teams
Youâre either dumb or lying. Because he has 20 career game winning drives and 13 4th quarter comebacks had 3 this season alone (and put them in position to win against the lions, Cardinals and bengals) but it was his fault cook fumbled, we missed the field goal and the defense allowed the lions to score with 0 seconds right?
@@charliebaldanza7691 the bengals are shitty team? Game tying field goal drive, put them in bengals territory in OT before cook fumbled and never saw the ball again. 2 4th quarter drives ending in a lead or the win against the packers. Game tying touchdown drive to go to OT against the ravens. Kicker missed chip shot field goal to beat the cardinals after Kirk drove us down. Shall I go on? 3rd 18 against the chargers, first down game over. This is all from this season. It took barely any thought to prove you wrong
Kirk cousins led the nfl in 4th quarter touchdown passes when down by one score. Thatâs the definition of clutch. You buffoon
Except last year when Kirk led like 10 game winning drives
If we get are defense together and and O-Line that can actually protect Cousins we'd have a great season, and kirk can show hes real colors but without the Defense and O-Line idk
Being as I am Viking fan and also a Chicago Cubs fan. I can give a little perspective on Kirk Cousins and how it relates to the Cubs.
While it's true that Kirk Cousins stats are eye popping. And comparing them to Rogers and Brady. He is right there with them. Incredible numbers HOF worthy.
But he's a company guy. He doesn't go out of his way to lead his teammates. Wich isn't bad. He's just not as likely to get a lot of support from his teammates. They don't see him as their leader.
How that relates to the Cubs is actually it comes from their TV broadcaster in the booth Harry Carey. He said while talking about Barry Bonds one time.
Barry is probably the best power hitter in the league. Meaning the he was the best power hitter at the time. He talked about all his other abilities as well. Then Harry said, " You know getting a lot of Home runs is always good. But it's not how many home runs you get that makes the difference. Its when you get the home runs that makes the difference."
That describes Kirk Cousins. Because if you dig deep into his stats you'll see he is like Stafford. To where a good portion of his stats come in trash time.
He's not getting the home runs at the right time.
Hopefully, and I feel like 2022 - 2023 for Kirk will also be like Stafford and he will finally win it all. With the new coaching staff the Vikings have in KOC as head coach. I would hope he not only win the Super Bowl. But win Super Bowl MVP. That by the way won't be an easy task being as he has JJ and Dalvin Cook on his team. Because both are capable of taking over the game.
Respect for typing that out
I am a Vikings fan but you are insane if you think the Vikings are winning a Superbowl this year. The defense sucks like every other year and there is no way we could beat the Bill's or Chiefs even if we got EXTREMELY lucky somehow and even made it to the SB
Brady had 24 TDs over 4k yards in his last year with the PATs.
Fax
Skipped the part where former teams in WFT told reporters how Kirk is aware of his numbers and what consciously pad his stats.
Yep, and he's still doing it. Casual fans think he's top 10 or even top 5 because they don't realize how many times he goes for the safe throw regardless of whether it gets a first down to keep his completion percentage up
Zimmer kept runnin the ball but kirko chains still most consistent qb last 8 yrs.
Everyoneâs thing with him is âheâs not clutchâ same thing they say about Rodgers, but as soon as you actually look at context of games and not just box scores, that narrative falls apart. Heâs orchestrated plenty of game winning drives just for the other team to have a quick shot at one too and succeed, or his team to fumble or allow a free rusher or something. He literally won a playoff game in OT using just his arm in NO. People that hate on Kirk, and ESPECIALLY those who think Dak is better (Dak is what Cousins haters think Kirk is) just donât care enough about football to be informed
Solid stat machine. That's it.
Kirk has to show us now he has everything it takes to be a top Q B
Minnesota has all the weapons. Kirk Kuzo, JJ, Theilen, Cook, Hockenson, Reagor, Osborn, a good o-line and d-line, Za'Darius, The Hitman, Pat P, Kendricks, Hicks, Hunter... the list goes on. Solid team that could beat any team in the NFL. There's no team in the NfL that I'm like....they are going to smoke the Vikings. None. They have every piece they need to make serious a run at it and smoke anybody that they play. They just have to execute and get 'er done. SKOL!!!
Arm talent? Yes. He can make pretty much every throw. Problem is, he often times has a deer in the headlights/terrified look on his face when heâs pressured. He doesnât appear to be composed in the situations that matter, more often than not. And that often will lead to the constant check down that has been a big part of his game. Now, you can argue all you want that itâs âcoaching/schemeâ and that could be a part of it in some situations. But âin between the earsâ is what most of the time separates the best from the rest unless you have some sort of insane athleticism or play making ability. Unfortunately for Cousins, the single biggest problem for me is his decision making in pressure situations more often than not, is not good. He looks flustered, scared, etc. Itâs not like heâs not capable of making any plays. He does at times. But itâs the amount of times he shows us that âwhat do I do nowâ look that to me doesnât cut it. And any time someone wants to highlight a game winning drive or something he made, to that, Iâll just point to when he lined up behind the guard instead of center against SF. Thatâs maybe the most embarrassing play possible from a guy who is your highest paid âleaderâ. If we can see it as fans, best believe the players arenât blind to it.
Vikes need a o line I can't remember last time they ever had a good o line
