- Enoch Rutherford (1916-2004) plays "Lost Indian" at his home in Grayson County, Virginia. Alice Gerrard took me and Linda up to visit Enoch in March 1987, for the first of several wonderful sessions we had with one of the most powerful, driving clawhammer banjo players we've had the opportunity to play with. I'm on fiddle, Alice is on guitar, and Linda is on banjo-uke. Linda also made the recording and photo.

Glad to hear banjo playing that is NOT FOR THE FAINT AT HEART
It's refreshing to hear a banjo who ain't ashamed of being a banjo.
🤩
The Iron Hand of Enoch Rutherford. Played with him many times. Miss that sound.
Thanks, Brad. Takes me back to many years spent at Galax Fiddlers Convention. My family (father's side) is from Grayson County.
Great to hear more of Enoch Rutherford.

So good!!!
This is great, Brad! I remember listening to him at Galax and he was so good.
God damn that banjo is right by the fiddle's side every step of the way though. That's a banjo uke?! Sounds like they played this song together a thousand times.
wooo hoooo
Sounds a whole lot like Cherokee Shuffle, don’t it? Love it
