I had mono at 19! I would never wish it on anyone!!!! Three+ months out of work and in bed, not being able to eat or drink because my throat was on fire! And the exhaustion!!!!

I had mono at 14, all I can remember was not going to school for 2 months, laying in the floor swaddled in a comforter with a blower (from the heater) blowing into my comforter. I slept the entire time. I don’t even remember going to the bathroom lol. I couldn’t even be bothered to talk to my 1st boyfriend of 4 weeks. When I was diagnosed they took an ungodly amount of blood and all color left me, my lips were white, and I passed out a little. I have been fatigued ever since I had mono.

I had mono at 20, at a time when the virus causing it had not been identified yet (fall 1993 I think). The research was at the "this COULD be a virus, we're looking into that" stage.
I had overinfected tonsils that did not respond to antibiotics, that led to the eventual diagnosis. I was sick for around 6 months - I "peaked" at Christmas, which was good, cause I went to my grandparents for the holidays and grandma cooked for me. I was so tired I was unable to cook for myself (ie buttering a piece of toast was exhausting, I had to take a break before starting to eat it).
After 6 months I was able to function again, but it took a whole year after that to get to the health I had before getting it.
And to this day, my energy levels are very low. Not enough to qualify for CFS, but enough to make work almost impossible for me.

I got mononucleosis at age 50. Menopause and mono are not a good combination! I was in bed for about two years with chronic fatigue syndrome. Four years later I am starting to feel better.

Was just diagnosed this last year and it explains a lot. I have fibromyalgia chronic fatigue syndrome REM sleep disorder and chronic infectious mononucleosis. Couple that with IBS and you have a recipe for A life of pure living hell.I wouldn’t wish this on anyone and it is simply horrible. I just turned 53 still get my period but things are starting to change and I also think I may be going through menopause. I can honestly say I’ve never felt so bad in my life. And I fight just to do daily activities going to work keeping my job and taking care of family. My heart goes out to those people who deal with this every day because I truly understand what you’re going through

I was diagnosed with Mono like a month ago. At first, I felt bloated, my tempature was a little higher and I had a few bumps in my groin. Doctors did some tests and they came back negative, but as the time went on, I was feeling so much worse. Everytime I swallowed, I was feeling an increbly sharp pain in my throat. My whole neck was swollen bcs of lymph nodes. My mom took me to the doctors again and they diagnosed me with Strepthroat. I finally felt relieved, cuz I thought I finally knew, what’s wrong with me. After I had taken all of my antibiotics, my doctor ran some blood tests for me, just to be sure, there is not anything else. And after a week BOOM, my diagnosis arrived. Yeah, I feel a little sad from time to time, bcs I cannot do any hard physical activities, so I cant engage in some sport events, but hey, the more I rest, the faster I recover. So pleeease ppl, dont take It for granted.
If you are currently struggling with mono, I wish you the fastest and painless recovery. Sending so much love from Czech Republic

i had mono back in february of 2023. it was the most severe sickness i had ever contracted. i had a variety of symptoms, such as immense fatigue, fever, headache, chills, body ache, sore throat, and chapped lips on top of it. luckily i only had it for a week but i kind of rushed getting back to school because i was already so behind on assignments 💀 the fatigue aspect of mono still remained however and wouldn’t go away for countless weeks. thank god mono’s just a one and done infection because i’d detest having to go through it again.

I just was in the ER last night and the Dr is checking me for Mono, results will be back in a few days. However, I think I have oropharyngeal cancer. My symptoms are sore throat longer than 3-weeks, bleeding tongue, white in back of tongue, hoarseness and clearing throat.

I have mono currently and if you feel under your neck near your chin you should feel bumps if you have mono. Should be very obvious when you feel it searching for the bumps.

Nope. 30 years ago, Covid was not a thing. When I had mono, I had not had a vaccine of any kind in 15 years.
Honestly. You need to educate yourself a little more before screaming crap like that.

I recently just had mono. I am still experiencing some effects of it. My advice to those who are suffering. A cool washcloth on your forehead, cough drops, warm lemon-ginger tea with honey and cumin, staying hydrated despite the throat pain, icing your swollen lymph nodes, sleeping when you can. That is all you can do.

Being in the position of feeling like hell and feeling like you can't do anything about it is a pure test of the mind. Strength is shown in enduring something like this. It's important to not lose sight of all things being temporary. It's important to think of the abundance of good days that are ahead of you.
