    Ever since Elden Ring the shadow the erdtree's first trailer, I have had many questions about the DLC Lore, the biggest of which being a Secret That Was Right In Front Of Us! And we are going into exactly that in today's video. I really do hope you enjoy this manic episode as we discuss some Elden Ring DLC Lore Speculation!
    We also talk on the channel about more of Elden rings lore for example: The Zamor Hero's, The Zamor ruins, Shabri , Hyetta, Irina, roundtable knight vyke,vyke the dragonspear, elden rings fell god, elden ring giant lore, fire giant lore, elden rings biggest secrets, The eternal city, edgar and the madness around the curse of the world being shattered, I also try not to stray away from fromsoftwares other games, I love them all so much, if you would like to see more lore feel free to check out the playlist link bellow explaining the lore of fromsoftwares games.

    Most of the events of Elden Ring and due to the of Queen Marika the Eternal and her Demi-god offspring's, Ranni, Rykard, Radhn,
    Godwyn the golden, Malenia and her scarlet rot and Miquella the unalloyed/ saint Trina,
    its also theorized that Melina is the gloam eyed queen an emperyan like Ranni, Miquella an Melania.
    To give you a more in-depth look at the content we do look at elden ring DLC, Elden ring dlc lore, elden ring dlc news, elden ring dlc leak, Elden ring dlc explained, elden ring, elden ring lore explained, elden ring story explained, elden ring explained, elden ring lore, Elden Ring Secrets, Elden Ring Analysis, Elden Ring Theories, Elden Ring Story Breakdown, Everything You Missed In The Elden Ring DLC Trailer ~ Linked Worlds, Demi-Gods And More, Elden Ring DLC Trailer, messmer the impaler elden ring, Elden ring miquella dlc lore.
    Elden Ring is set in a dark fantasy world called the "Lands Between." The world was created by the Elden Ring, a powerful object that has been shattered, leading to chaos and turmoil. Players assume the role of the "Tarnished," a character who has been exiled and embarks on a quest to restore the Elden Ring and bring order to the world.
    The game features a diverse cast of characters, including gods, giants, dragons, and other mysterious beings, each with their own motives and agendas.
    Elden Ring is known for its intentionally cryptic and enigmatic storytelling style, where much of the lore is left open to interpretation and speculation. Players need to piece together clues, engage in speculative discussions with the community, and make their own interpretations to fully understand the lore of Elden Ring and its intricacies.
    Elden Ring is also an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by FromSoftware, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that players start with a linear opening but eventually progress to freely explore the Lands Between, including its six main areas, as well as castles, fortresses, and catacombs scattered throughout the open world map. These main areas are interconnected through a central hub that players can access later in the game's progression-similar to Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls-and are explorable using the character's mount as the main mode of transport, although a fast travel system is an available option.

      1 of 3 Possibilities as to who that actually is. 1. Is that's the actual Miquella, and is trapped there and picked the Player to free them. 2. Is it could be Marika's First actual Husband, Brother, or Father. 3. It could be 1 of the Members of that Family that had owned that Castle Maris where you fight Elmer the Bell Bearing Hunter (guy that has that Thorn wrapped Armor and possesses the Maris Executioner Sword). Will be interesting to find out, though I'm sure it'll raise even more questions.

    Tarnished Archaeologist has a great video on the Nameless Eternal City. He posits that originally, it was above ground in the part of North Leyndell that is now a giant sinkhole. It lines up with Lowet Leyndell too, as its architectural style is definitely Noxian, in the same vein as places like Sellia and Ordina.
    The theory is that the Nameless Eternal City/Leyndell saw a schism in belief between the Numen’s worship of the sacred tree and the moon. While the NEC is definitely more aligned with the Nox’s worship of the Night, Lower Leyndell shows ample evidence of tree worship in its iconography. As a side note, the site of grace that has the Omenkiller lurking outside is also the only Deathbed we can find outside of the Roundtable Hold, showing its deep connection with Erdtree worship.

      Its funny because I never once gave thought Marika's parents, let alone her father.
      I've never considered Marika to be an Empyrean; I always imagined her to be a normal human who was somehow chosen by the Greater Will and transformed into its vessel to fight and rule in its name.
      I've considered that gods can come about in two ways. They can be humans or other beings chosen by Outer Gods and slowly converted into their immortal vessels or they can be born as Empyreans, already claimed by a god before birth.

She left Placidusax for the Numen Lord, then she was murdered and made into a weapon, and whomever murdered her would likely have been the cause of the state he's in now. @@brandonwilliams4050 It seems to me that Marika the "Eternal" had good reason to strike the previous gods from the history books and obscure her own rise to godhood. • @davisiotta489
      @davisiotta489 Před měsícem +6

      @@briannenurse4640 an even crazier theory, this old man is Placidusax, Farum azula does not follow a linear timeline giving room for all kinds of temporal paradoxes, this old man is actually the human form of placidusax and perhaps not the main body of the dragonlord but in true an extension just as Margit is for morgott, this body was killed placidusax no longer has contact with his goddess and therefore does not know what happened to her and still awaits her return, Malekith killed her so that Marika would become the new vessel of the Elden ring and started the age of the erdtree, this is the reason why several of Marika's descendants are linked to dragons as she herself is half dragon, Godwyn became friends with one and started the dragon cult, Morgott and Mogh have characteristics from the crucible and we always attribute this solely to his descent from Godfrey but what if this comes from both parents through Marika's draconic descent? Godrick also seems to try to link his own lineage to dragons, Rykard became linked to serpents and these creatures are also linked to dragons as well as Messmer who seems to use dragon communion and the serpents he carries may be part of his own body, Miquella and Malenia have wings similar to the seath from dark souls, which could indicate that these two are also technically speaking dragons without scales, the biggest evidence of this for me is that Marika, when we meet her at the end of the game, is literally made of stone, further solidifying this idea of her being half dragon

    I think it was Marika’s ambition (either deliberate or a side effect of being parasited to force godhood) that was her undoing. The Numen probably saw her as a traitor. Marika the Eternal became a god and oops… the Numen Eternal City god Lord of Night, the Dark Moon who guides the stars happens to go missing (along with the other gods - you see many references to ‘waiting for the return of lord/god). Numen retaliate with Ranni’s help after she meets the Dark Moon (wherever it was hiding/trapped - Renalla probably betrayed Radagon by taking Ranni to meet the Dark Moon), killing Godwyn, the Scion of the Golden Bough and thus killing the future of the Erdtree. In actual grafting no scion = no new growth. Thus clearing the way for the return of the Lord of Night Dark Moon and The Age of Stars. Basically the ushering in of other ages is replacing what Marika and her invasive golden growth overtook and consumed.

    7:40 The truth really, Numen and scions of the eternal city are the same. Nameless eternal city is actually lower Leyndell. Its the missing area near the front main gate. After the Numens betrayal against Marika, them killing Godwyn, caused Marika to cast them far below the lands between. That why Godwyn's body is below as well. Siluria, the crucible knight is down there as well to keep a watch over any remaining Numen and dispatch them. The numen's themselves can't be trusted at all. Even their deal with Ranni fell through as they are searching for her as well near the end of her questiline, killing Blaidd and Iji. the old guy in the dlc is interesting, but its obviously a sword similar to the Relic sword and the sword of Milos and expect it to be wielded by the deathbed companion shown. i agree that deathbed companions are numen, esp considering we find the Deathbed set in the Numen settlement in Leyndell and we find that Fia detests the Golden Order who betrayed the Numen. i think its a little schizo, the ghostflame connection, since we know that the ghostflame sorceries were essentially lost to time until rediscovered by heretical sorcerers. deathblight is a later development to the practice of death sorcery after the death of godwyn which was well after the loss of ghostflame and the Death Rite. I think Fia though is responsible for bringing this syncrenicity between the old Death Rites of the Lands Between and the newer Prince of Death's blight, because she clearly wants to bring back death and all of its importance to Numen culture that Marika tried to do away with. i anticipate finding a lot about Numen culture including the deathbed companions in the dlc.

    Interesting. 3 cosiderations:
    -The ruins in Godwin's area is the part of Lyndell that fell down, it coincides with the deep chasm between the main entrance and the inner walls. A chasm that was not there previously the first defence of Lyndell, or else in the cinematic they would not have defended that side. All of this has been showed by Tarnished Archeologist
    -Also thanks to TA, we know that Marika changed a previously funerary rite (depicted in statues like in the chapel at the start of the game and under Storm Castle) to a birthing ritual, also converting the tombs function to erdtree burials (the urn with ashes reminding of previously Ghostflame cremations), that supports your theory.
    -Lastly, why the man should be Marina's father and not a first husband? Maybe is he the betrayed one from whose body Marika plucks gold in the other trailer!

    I quite like the bone theory. I've seen theories that the Elden Ring was 'born' when a god died, and I think both theories can be easily consolidated such that the Elden Ring itself is made of the bones of gods.
    The significance of the spine is quite interesting as in humans, spinal fluid contains 'pluripotent' cells, that have the potential to become many different types of cell essentially, like less potent stem cells. It would stand to reason then, that the spinal fluid of the gods would contain 'cells' with a lot of potential for forming complex 'life'.
    Now I'm wondering if runes are derived from the spinal fluid of the gods. I'm also wondering if the golden sap that the erdtree used to produce is essentially golden spinal fluid from a source like this golden spine we see in the trailer. Incidentally, the shape of this golden spine looks as though if it continued to grow, it would vaguely resemble the elden ring itself.
    I've definitely just slipped my tin foil hat on now, but the cells that these pluripotent cells in humans become are essentially different types of blood cells, our blood essentially comes from our bone marrow, and we know blood is very significant in elden ring, miquella even uses their own blood to try and grow the Haligtree. Perhaps if Miquella has used spinal fluid, and watered the tree with the raw, pluripotent cells instead of the product of them, they would have succeeded

    The ants are based on a real kind of ant called the honeypot ant. They have special members of the colony that are brought tons and tons of food and store it inside of her abdomen to keep it from spoiling. then when the colony doesn't have much food they go to these ands and the ants with the food share it with her hungry sister. So it wasn't just a single ant overfed. It was an ant using her body to store the food for the others of her kind. Meaning the concentration of all that food was a numen rune. additionally regular ants drop... well, a *lot* of runes per individual. At least for regular enemies at that point in the game. So that might be a connection too.
    Not sure how this all fits in your theory. It might mean something, might not. Love to hear your thoughts though.

    • @AgentSapphire
      @AgentSapphire Před měsícem +1

      @@theemeraldgecko310 npnp! Yeah and your theory really got me thinking maybe the runes WERE the ants food. and that bloat was a single numen rune. And the ants got a little bit of runes when the food was shared. Since one honeypot ant can feed dozens of her sisters. The "honey" (it's nectar or other sugars mixed with water. Not literal honey) isn't digested because its in what is called a social stomach. Which is how ants carry a lot of food back to the colony. They feed their sisters and their queen via trophallaxis which you can think of like how a mother bird might feed her babies. But instead of the actual stomach its an internal pouch for storing extra food specifically for feeding other ants since they can't all go out and forage.
      I think the big question now is why do these ants behave like honeypot ants? Since runes can exist just... on the ground out in the open. Why don't they store runes like that and then eat them? Why does a specialized ant have to hold onto all the food and feed the colony with it? It seems strange that they'd need to store it like that.

    • @theemeraldgecko310
      @theemeraldgecko310  Před měsícem

      Maybe there’s something volatile about this type of runes? If you look at the numen rune, it’s actually a different shade of gold than the other ones in game, the numen come from a different land and a different age so that might be why!
      Maybe they ran out of food to ear and the numen runes were all they had left to eat, then as time went on their bodies adapted to the point they could only digest that certain type of rune? It’s a really interesting topic, you’re super knowledgeable about this stuff, thank you so much for sharing you’re knowledge it’s super interesting!

    • @AgentSapphire
      @AgentSapphire Před měsícem +1

      @@theemeraldgecko310 I'm glad I could share some knowledge. I'm not an expert I just really like ants so a bit of googling might unearth some stuff that I didn't mention.
      Or maybe the runes around here all once belonged to the numen. So when the ants bring the food back to the storage ants to hold in their social stomachs they ended up holding so much it becomes a complete numen rune. Essentially all the runes in deeproot were ONCE a part of the numens but have since broken apart and scattered all over the place and been picked up and scattered again. Ants are mostly scavengers after all.
      And when one of the ants completely fills her social stomach to act as food storage there are enough of the numen's runes in one place to combine into a proper Numen Rune (item). The alternate color of the rune is because it's not a single numen rune. Its probably thousands of different ones all pressed together into one "complete" one made from a messy chimera of runes that belonged to different individual numen. So they are very delicate compared to other runes.
      (had to edit to add that last part because it didn't go through apparently lol)

    I can't remember the whole theory, but if I remember correctly Jack The Mimic has videos about Miquella purposefully plotting Godwyn's death in order to creAte Deathroot and the Prince of Death. I have a few thoughts on this. If Messmer does happen to be a secret triplet of Miquella and Malenia, and the adult figure in the Haligtree statues embracing the little twins IS Godwyn like some people theorize, then I believe Godwyn would have been close enough to Marika and the triplets to be one of the few souls that even knows of Messmer's existence. Perhaps this is why he was assassinated, why Miquella would want to create Deathroot. Godwyn's deathroot can travel underground in the LBT to find traces of this forgotten Demigod, thus uncovering the realm of shadow to lead Miquella there. Throwing in your theory that Godwyn is communicating with the Old Man in the DLC, then we have w more solid connection to how he's able to find the Shadow Realm by following the old man's pain. I'm not sure I believe this, especially if the Shadow Realm is not physically connected to the LBT, but it's fun to consider since I want more Miquella and Godwyn storyline.
    I do very much think it's possible Old Man is Marika's daddy, but I don't think I have enough to personally subscribe to that yet. He's definitely someone she used to have ties with though. The Shadow Realm definitely seems like a pocket dimension where she hides everything she deems too dangerous, blasphemous, or useless for her own realm.

Butterflies, The Shadow of the Erdtree is giving me strong mirror dimension vibes; the untold behind the scenes story we've all been craving. my unhinged theories include the possibility that Trailer gramps was Marika's daddy.
    that's when i am right there with you until i turn left like this:
    Miquella's eternal youth curse and the passionate obsession around death, dying and decay in the game is unambiguously imp*lied. i think Marika the Numen woman became a child carrying womb-man forced to set off to find a safe "land" to give birth to a life that might've ended up been taken from her under ambiguous circumstances while she lateron got tree'd. there hexists also a myth version of Marika the Goddess that has been used to coerce people into obedience following manipulated folk-lore. whether the baby i mention was Miquella, i don't think. the timeline is f*ked up as is. i do however not think of Messmer, or Mesumeru, to have been one of her direct empyrean kin - the lore seems to imply femm* bodied beings, Messmer not her literal child but in the metaphorical "all are Marika the Eternal's children" sense. for some reason the way he speaks smugly, the pronounciation of "Mother... " etc sounds tremendously sarcasm pilled.
    is he ... a brother?
    on a not really related note what i found a VERY intriguing note by gameplus/the alchemist the other day was on the banners behind Marika statues/icons. he showed the one in a Messmer scene where an early version (?) Marika holds a baby child, and i noticed the upper arc of the banner is not visible in that depiction. also it's i think it's a rare version of Marika holding her arms in an angle lower than shoulder levels. curious if you have any thots on this!

    The Elden Ring existed before it became associated with Marika and the Golden Order, and its previous incarnation included death. I think it's more likeky that Old Crusty was Elden Lord to the Gloam-Eyed Queen who was then defeated by Marika. The Gloam-Eyed Queen was associated with ghostflame and black flame. Marika probably appropriated the Elden Ring, created the Erdtree (possibly from the remains of the Crucible), removed Destined Death and then veiled the Land of Shadow. Marika probably had an affair with Old Crusty and that's when Messmer was born (and possibly Melina).

    Perhaps the culture the is "buried" in the shadowland had their own death customs. It would be possible that deathbed companions were a big part of them. As for the old man, he id definitely of import, as all the characters that have in-game portraits, but calling him marika's ancestor is pretty far fetched. Perhaps he was the prevalent figure prior to the arrival of the golden ones. Explaining why he is tortured like this. The connection you make between ghost flame and the eternals is valid, but going from that to the fact that deatblight and death in general will have a presence in the dlc is a stretch.

    no one's pointed out that the golden thorn going through the old man is actually penetrating through his skull, neck and then out his chest - the darkened back body implies he's wrenching it from having been embedded into his head - but the actual golden thorns are not physically attached to his body rather it's just impaling him. you can tell because his knees are shown in light - implying that he's bent over - meaning the thorns do not actually reach his chest - rather as close as his sternum but then down by his knees.

    I have been wondering if the statues of Elden John were this guy, that Marika may have seduced and had a child with to try and take over like how Radagon does with Rennala. The statues near mohg are missing the legs in a similar way, the statues had a hair made of roots or something, but Mohg's area has some ritualistic flames. I feel like that person used to guide ancestrals and perhaps others to the sun realm, until Marika veiled the process. But she may have made the sun realm the fallen realm somehow, almost everything about the sun realm has to do with hollow undead, and the shield of the sun realm implies that it's foundation has "collapsed". Both symbolically in that an empire and it's god have fallen, and literally in the sense that extreme gravity caused the collapse of the sun realm, with eternal darkness, which looks like a black hole, being reminiscent of some great destruction that took place. Farum Azula got hit by a meteor that people still debate was the elden beast or astel. But I'd argue it's the meteor that Mohg's palace is standing on, it is still burning and at the center of destruction in both Nokron outskirts and Caelids crater swamp. In fact all the roots in Caelid look like they blasted out of the ground, away from the crater. And it happens that Caelid is a hotspot for hunting probably meteor wounded dragons. Another thing is the sun always shines in Farum Azula, This either means that Farum used to or still does, orbit the lands at the same time as the sun. So if the sun sent a meteor at any point, it would hit Farum directly in the center. But it does not prove an Astel has nothing to do with it, it could. But this power sent from the sun could be the same power Hyetta mentions what was borrowed must be returned, the same power the fire giants "borrowed" to fight and still lose to Marika somehow, and the same power Placidusaax is awaiting the return of. Except Marika put the fell god in a prison until it became the frenzy god, and experimented on it trying to control it. Every attempt failing besides one experiment of controlled bursts. By using the fell god in a controlled burst, Marika avoids being consumed. This controlled burst, I believe, is Radagon. Knowing she will turn into Radagon, she manipulates his feelings to get him to do what she wants, pushing her own agenda even while someone else.
    I saw a post of someone who hallucinates trained their dog to greet people, it made it so if the person hallucinated, the dog would act strange when the person told the dog to greet them. This person was able to use an outside perspective, to maintain control of a situation and do less things they would do while hallucinating. I believe Marika is very smart like this.

      @@theemeraldgecko310 lol sure! XD well, as one of Marika's echoes says "The Erdtree Governs all. The choice is thine.Become one with the Order or thyself of it." Makes me wonder... what if Marika actually planned it all knowing that the Golden Order was corrupted? what if by including your theory... Marika actually was against the Greater Will? Everything was set in motion right at the beginning. I mean... have you ever wondered why the blacksmith and Rodericka lose their memory when the Round table Hold is burning with the Giants's Flames? Something tells me that is the answer for Melina as well... Not minding who she trully is, I think Marika burnt her with the Giant flames in order for her to lose her true memories and guide you through the path becoming own Marika's purpose.
      Marika found out how they were all at mercy of the Greater Will and the Two Fingers. How the "great tree" was corrupted and parasited by the Golden Order as an outside force. Becoming what we know as the Erdtree today. That would give even more meaning to your theory. The fact that the DLC casts the shadow of the Erdtree could mean that it in fact could be it's true form and so the golden sap absorved for whatever organism and/or entity the Greater Will represents. Therefore complementing your own theory... what if the Deep Root Depths actually exist in both realities? As for the Crucible been the primal form of all existance and the must ancient one, could actually have it's own "Eldin Ring" form. It's own power. The man with the sword for bones.
      Anyways this goes deeper as no one has mentioned the trully evident alliance Between Godrick and Mohg or, at least Varré knowing that you were coming and I have proof of this XD. (Isekai style). If he knew then Marika did as well. So in order for all of her plan to work she had to cast Godfrey away or would retaliate and probably stop you before you could even reach the base of the Erdtree.
      It all reduces to Marika knowing they were manipulated and doomed to the Greater Will's force. They were brainwashet in to believe that all crucible life was inferior. That every single curse including the omen should be destroyed or cast away. Morgot and Mohg been those who suffered the most. And so Marika chooses to destroy the Greater Will to any cost. No matter what you Tarnished choose. She is willing to leave her own, her people and the Lands Between fate in your hands. Ultimately she knows that whatever you choose is what they all deserve.

    So I do think a lot of this is wrong, but it's still really good! Both the idea that these folks are Marika's parents, and the idea that the Deeproot Depths might be the original settlement of the Numen are super interesting.
    First, as other folks mention - that's not crusty old man's skeleton, it's some kind of branch or tree sapling.
    Second - Astel took away the sky of an Eternal City when he first came to the Lands Between. It seems likely that this nameless eternal city is the one that was destroyed, as it's also the only place in-game with eternal city architecture and no false night sky.
    Third - The Eclipse is definitely connected with Godwyn, but I think you have causation backwards. Castle Sol appears on the Sun Realm shield and Sol means "sun." It was probably dedicated to the seat of the sun until Godwyn's death, and is now associated with the eclipse - an event in which Godwyn's soul can be returned. Sol worships the eclipse *because* they worship Godwyn and the eclipse knights, not the other way around.
    Despite all that I think you're on to something. Numen can be translated a bunch of different ways but one is "divine will" or "divine mystery." It's not insane to think that they 1) came with the golden stars/Elden Beast, and 2) settled at the base of the tree. In addition, the lady in the painting is holding her belly the way pregnant women are often portrayed in old art. The idea that these are Marika's parents, settled at the base of the Erdtree/crucible after arriving along with the Elden Beast, or even that the man portrayed could *be* the Elden Beast, is interesting and worth some thought.

Miquella wants to find her promised lord (Tarnished) to that will deliver the pieces (Great Runes) needed to restore the natural order, thinking this will cure Malenia along with all the pain in the lands. Miquella was born and can wield Radagon's hammer to reforge the ELDEN RING.

Also maliketh isn’t marikas half brother. He’s her shadow given to her by the greater will, like blaidd to ranni. Also (again) the land of shadow we’ve been told is where marika and likely the other numen first set foot. And the ships in the blue area in the trailer are what they took to get here. They look just like the ships on the obelisks we light in the siofra river. They have a story carved into them telling about the coming of the numen. By this theory, Ghostflame is the remnents of the Black Flame of Death that the GEQ and the Godkin once wielded. Now all those who Live in Death can access this weakened version of what was once the Black Glory.

    Those are not the old man's bones. He's been skewered by something golden - you can see it coming out under his rib cage (cage not gold) and sticking out of his face. I think a great question is what is that he was skewered with and why? (edit: I see comments below about it being an erd tree sapling... that's cool... why?) It's golden, so it's after when Marika brings in the golden (?). Did Marika kill her own father?

    I really liked this video, but I think you would gain significant insight into the Nameless Eternal City if you hit the "switch to above ground"-button on the map and ponder the city planning of what's above.

    I'll just wait for the dlc to come out for facts.

    The broche is St. Trina, similar to the iconography on the ghost flame torch and the sword.
