very detailed video.give this man a round of aplause and a rise.
Another very good job explaining. Well done. I'm learning.
Glad to help!
I appreciate the pride you take in the work as well. Great job
Thank you!
It's great to see. Just got fired from my restaurant job, after I cleaned their hood by hand for 14 an hour. Fire protection guy was in last week; said he had twelve restaurants, 600 apiece. So now I'm looking into getting certified. Already have a truck. 🤞
Thank You Kindly for all of your knowledge very detailed and professional. I am truly excited to start my new endeavors with this field.
I had to opportunity to train with Dustin. He is an excellent guy to train with. Thanks Dustin!
Using a phone to take pictures of areas you can't see is a good idea,I've done it myself a bunch of times
Wow so professional. I take care and pride in your work. It's a fascinating video. I never wondered how industrial kitchens clean hoods. But you don't just clean you check and understand what you are dealing with.
Amazing video thanks
Impeccable quality and care put into this clean.
I have a few issues with this cleaning as well and I am curious what your issues were. I take so many clients from this company! This process and the method of downstreaming in general only works for one out of maybe 10 hoods.
Learning a lot keep up the good work.
You're taking upmost level of pride in your work bro. You just earned my respect.
Thank You. We try hard to be very thorough and professional.
Great job!
Wonderful videos! Thank you so much!
Yes Sir!! Glad we were here to help. Please give us call for products and supplies
I decided to look into this process while I have a crew hitting three of my stores tonight. Much respect to your craft, and somebody better give this guy a raise!!
Thank You Jeff
That was a really good informative video, Thank you sir!!!
Glad it was helpful!
I love your videos. Very thorough and informative. Excellent for any new hire to watch a few times over.
Thank you! We appreciate the words of encouragement.
What chemicals do u use for heavy carbon
Great job
Where can i get tha gun
Great video.
I've been working in kitchens for over 10 years. So help me God, the rag and mopstick is an amazing idea for cleaning the back wall behind the equipment!!!
Thank s sir from India
Wow!! Thank you for commenting. So glad we can help those in your country
This was insanely helpful! I work as an HV/AC technician, but haven't got any experience cleaning vents and hoods. Asian grease, like you said, seems to require SERIOUS strength chemicals, and I've seen lack of maintenance burn out motors repeatedly.
Glad we could help
عمل احترافي و جيد جدا☺️
He's so cute 😂 a great teacher
Thanks!
Great videos! 🙌 You did such a good job of explaining every step. Nice job. I’m still curious how the chemical comes out of the gun with one tip and not the other?
It has to do with the venturi effect and the pressure difference between the tips allowing the soap to come through or not. It is much more complex than this but this is a simplification of it.
These are great kitchen exhaust cleaning videos, would love to see a first service with some scraping. Dustin is a real professional, if he ever wants to move out to LA tell him to give us a call.
I am so glad to hear! Thank you for the kind words. He is very good at what he does. We are very lucky to get to work with him.
I was curious, is it possible to have a one man crew and do this work by yourself?
@@Henry-nr7ll It has been done but it is not easy
@@Henry-nr7ll I’ve done it it’s very possible specially if there’s only one hood and fan and it’s not to dirty
@@Henry-nr7ll yes but it gets old fast!
I buy my chemicals from hoodfitter n it works but I been wanting to go with something stronger for those heavy jobs. Glad I decided to check your vids out.
Take a look at our Green Beast powerwash.com/shop/detergents/kitchen-exhaust/v502-green-beast-kitchen-grease-cleaner-degreaser-2-lbs/
We use caustic chloride
draining with a pre-filled hose is a smart trick - avoids having to suction with mouth!
Whatever they pay you, its not enough brotha. Great video! Just bought your asian grease solution, been looking for something tougher than super doug
Thank You. We are here to help
It's important to get good at what you do
I do hood cleaning I have always used sodium hydroxide and Sheila shine do you know how the degreaser and shine you use compares to that and also is the shine oil or water based
Another helpful video. One question though. If you caulk the gap afterwards doesn't that make it difficult to put your plastic in on the next cleaning?
It can
BEAST
Great video! Ive been approached by a restaurant owner on cleaning there vents i was just wondering do you need permits, certificate s for inspection through the state? Just wondering since you put a sticker up.
Great vids! Hey what's the go with the rags on the back of the hood? Is that where you've pegged the plastic and the rags are to stop is ripping or something?
Thank you! The rags are there to jam the plastic so it doesn't fall during the washing process. It acts like a wedge. The rags are also good for protecting the plastic from the putty knife when he is jamming the plastic.
What about the riser air ducts how will you clean it?
Looking on the page to find some equipment and I see the set up in the van. What pressure washer do you have in the van ?
Great vid guys. Do you ever get complaints about the noise working so late?
It does happen occasionally
What pressure washer of GPM do you need to clean those types of fans and does the electric pressure washer will work?
Those two parts already made me a certificate professional, Thank you very much.
I would not go more than 5.5 GPM. Glad you enjoyed the video!
@6:28 the NFPA requires that all upblast exhaust fans must have a access panel,in order to reach backside of blades. Good way to sell it to the customer Just a FYI
Yes Sir!! Thanks for sharing the tip
do you clean the filters or is that the customer's job? BTW. I really appreciate what you do man. It has been super super helpful
We encourage the customer to clean filter daily or at least once a week. Other wise the filter will to function properly.
Which pressure washer are you using? I think that everything else is linked.
Is there a smaller pressure washer you would recommend for someone just getting started?
where did you get the wand you spray with?
I run a fire protection business where we do suppression systems and we are getting ready to jump into cleaning hoods, what is the recommended pressure washer on yalls website.
how are the lights fine while you guys shooting the water ?
even they are waterproof light ..?
Bro where can I get the magnetic scraper to clean the duct ?
how long does it take you to clean a hood on average?
What do you charge to do a full system like this. Hoods fans ducts
Hey bro where you get the mop sticks from ,i cant find them on the website?
how many pressure guns do you use?
why people gets mad when you charge 600 dollars for a good quality job like this?
They don't understand what it takes to do the job right.
how long do you let the chemical sit for?
what psi is your pressure washer?
Which equipment to use if there is no access to clean with normal cleaning machines
what is the model of hot power washer you used?
I would love to see how fs-100 works on Asian grease
We definitely want to do a video in a Asian food restaurant soon!
Take a look at OD-100 it is specifically formulated for Asian grease powerwash.com/shop/detergents/kitchen-exhaust/od-100-asian-kitchen-grease-fighter-16-oz/
what psi do you use bro?
They always show the easy jobs. Try showing one with excessive sticky grease buildup.
Hi great job. Can you tell me what psi washer is needed.
We normally run 4000 PSI at 4 GPM, hot water
what size is that wand
how much cost a service like that?
So I see you guys don't put 4" fan blade access in the bowl. 2 reasons. 1: "how you spray the back side of the blade"Get the back side from the 4" access. 2: 5 gallon bucket to catch run off, dump down duct so it's not going on roof!
What state are you guys located at?
Put your goggles on man!!
What do you do with all the grease/water in the trash can after you finish?
We usually pour it down a floor drain or the mop sink. Ask management first if they have grease traps for their drains. Most restaurants do, and see they have a preference where they want the water to go.
Good afternoon,
I recently got certified to clean commercial hoods and I wanted to know if it really takes more then one person to do the job. I have a contract already pressure washing and these hoods are typically small, more of the fast food restaurants. (Southern Cali)
Thank you 🙏🏽
Who certified you? Learning how to do the cleaning is very important
Good evening!
Sorry I never noticed you had messaged me but I got my certification through MFS in Florida and I’m actually working now for a company called HOODZ and I’m learning alot with my trainer which he’s very meticulous with his work. I’m taking a lot of pictures of my work and just figuring out how to present myself to new potential customers.
Thank you 🙏🏽
Where can i get this gun/the longer one you have and the rrest of the stuff you been using like longer hoses ect.
All these products can be found at Powerwash.com!
Hello sir i just started this line of work. Lets say the customer already has caulking between back of hood back wall. Do i use tape if there is no tuck points or do i tear out the cauking and make my own tuck points? Replacing the caulking after cleaning of course.
Congratulations! It's great to hear that you've decided to start his line of work! In this case, if there are no tuck points, you can use heavy-duty magnets! We sell some on our website powerwash.com/shop/griploc-magnets-with-basket-8-sets/
And if you want to learn all the tips and tricks for kitchen exhaust cleaning we recommend taking this course from PowerWash Academy: powerwashacademy.com/events/kitchen-exhaust-cleaning-boot-camp-4/?
Thank you I appreciate it. I'll order some today
So, why do you skip cleaning the filters or is that on a routine basis?
Customers are responsible for cleaning the filters no less than once a week.
Can you tell me which is the powder one that works very good too please thank looking the one you use is liquid
I mean the chemicals you use
Green Beast, V-502. Here is a link powerwash.com/shop/v502-green-beast-kitchen-grease-cleaner-degreaser-2-lbs/
NFPA 96 is the only certification you need to do this work?
Technically you do not need a Phil Ackland Certification to do this work but it helps with the learning curve and credibility. It is like having your truck worked on by a guy who knows cars vs a mechanic that has his ASE Master Truck Technician Certification. Although both might be qualified to do the job, it gives the clients a little more peace of mind knowing you have been certified by a credible third party outside yourself.
Do you have a link for that angle adaptor?
Please give us a call at 1-800-433-2113
Do you guys wash the dirty rags to reuse after a job?
Yes we do
donde puedo conseguir el magnetic scraper ?
lo puedes conseguir en driploc
Is the baffle filter cleaned as well?
The restaurant staff should be cleaning them daily, every couple days or once a week based on the grease accumulation. This should not wait until the kitchen exhaust cleaning service is performed.
The only thing is, I’m having trouble with pricing. How would y’all price single hoods and fans to two or three hoods and fans?
It varies. Most systems like that will take 2 to 4 hours depending on kitchen volume and the type of grease. Decide what you need to make per hour to be profitable per hour then multiply that by the number hours it will take to do the job. That will give you the price you need to charge.
@powerwash can you please make a video on pricing as this would help a bunch! 🙏
You didn’t show any scrubbing or scrapping. Is it mainly spraying the chemical, leaving it on and spraying it off and if it’s still dirty repeat? You showed magnetic scrappers but didn’t use them in this video.
I depends on the amount of grease in the system. Scraping is recommended for heavy accumulations.
I cannot find the fs 502 in your website. I want to buy some
Here is a link to an equivalent product powerwash.com/shop/detergents/kitchen-exhaust/v502-green-beast-kitchen-grease-cleaner-degreaser-2-lbs/
hello, what is the price of the service you do in this video.
It varies but on average it goes from $500 to $1500 a location
How is he able to change from chemicals to water on that wand? Also, when is heat used?
The downstream injector that sucks chemical from the bucket only works when the back pressure is lowered enough to activate it. By switching to the black "soap" tip on the gun, it has a bigger orifice, which in turn lowers the pressure and allows the downstream injector to pull chemical.
@@bnagnew34 nah brother I use a downstream injector with a dual lance and can control it. He is using 2 separate soaps/acids on the same gun without going to the rig. Either high pressure soap or something.
@@blakeengland7784 He said he's mixing the two in a bucket and drawing from the bucket. What you are saying could be done though if you had say a dual barb injector with remote shutoff valves running separately to each barb. You'd just have to have two separate remotes. I've never tried it that way so I don't know what kind of mix percentage you'd actually end up with, but in theory you could do it.
Y’all need jrods
Where can I find that 45' tip?

Does the filters not get cleane? Or the wall?
In the restaurant's that I have worked in the hood filters got pressure washed with a degreaser solution.
Great Question! It all depends on what was agreed upon with the customer. Usually we do not clean the filters and deal solely with the exhaust fans, hoods, and ducts.
Does one need to be licensed to do this and how consistent is it to get jobs ?
Great question! You technically do not need to get licensed, but this line of work has a lot of liabilities at a higher risk. Without the proper training, you could be putting yourself at risk. Getting certified will help with your credibility when bidding for jobs because it shows the client that you know what you are doing because your certification is through a credible source. We do the Phil Ackland certification at PowerWash Academy if you are considering getting certified. The number is 877-798-6722
@@Powerwash thank you. I’ve worked for a hood exhaust cleaning company so I understand the job, never understood how to be allowed legally to perform such jobs as I understand there’s codes that should be followed to certify the cleaning to nfpa standards. Will look into it. Thank you.

Exactly what type of grease is asian grease? Lol just curious.
It is produced from cooking with peanut oil in a wok. Very hard to remove
It's more sticky than regular grease and it likes to clump up as well hot water is definitely needed for it to get it all off
This is all old school cleaning & I'm so glad that I've figured out a different way of cleaning , I use no machine & no harsh chemicals, and I only need plastic to cover up the deep fryer unit only ! I've been cleaning Hoods now for 20 years !
